Okay, I know some of you may be like "Whaa?" but hear me out on this one.
Both are about girls stuck in a political battle between kings.
Both have two (or more) love interests fighting over them.
Both have feelings for two characters.
Both are historical (duh).
And they both have main leads who are humanly flawed and aren't always the best people - which is understandable in this era and time.

In the mid-17th century, the Manchus take over sovereignty of China and establish the Qing Dynasty. While nationalistic sentiments start brewing within the martial artists' community (jianghu), the Qing government immediately imposes a ban forbidding the common people from practising martial arts. Fire-Wind sees the new law as an opportunity to for himself to make a fortune and offers to help the government execute the new rule. Greedy, cruel and immoral, Fire-Wind ravages northwest China with his army, killing thousands of pugilists as well as innocent civilians. His next goal is to attack Martial Village, which houses a large number of martial artists...
- Both are historical dramas that start off really happy. All the characters are really close at the start and are friends/family.

- In both dramas the main characters brother is behind all the death and destruction.
- Both dramas have a lot of death where several of the main characters die, especially a lot of the good guys.
- The FL in both dramas has to go through a lot of hardship, mostly because of all the men in her life. She goes from a happy and carefree teenager in love, with friends and family, to a person that loses everything and everyone at one point.
- The ML in both dramas is from a high position but doesn't hold much power compared to many of the other characters. He also falls for the FL first.
- SH has an open ending whilst CMARS has a closed, bittersweet ending.

When a total eclipse of the sun takes place, Go Ha Jin is transported back in time to the start of the Goryeo Dynasty of Korea during King Taejo's rule. She wakes up in the body of the 16-year-old Hae Soo and finds herself living in the house of the 8th Prince Wang Wook, who is married to Hae Soo's cousin. She soon befriends several of the princes and meets the ostracized 4th Prince, Wang So. Although knowing she should not get involved in palace intrigues over the succession to the throne, she inadvertently becomes a pawn in the struggle, as several of the Princes fall in love with her.
One of the main leads in both dramas travel back in time by falling into water, but Go Princess Go puts an extra twist to the concept with it being a guy waking up in a girls body, which kinda adds another dimension to the ensuring love story. However, neither lead seems to be overly concerned to have traveled in time and neither tries to intentionally (yet) change any course of action in history (such as e.g. Faith) while being perceived as a bit weird/too freely spoken by the other characters. Moon Lovers is more visually stunning while Go Princess Go relies on some sassy comedy.
Both dramas incorporate modern elements, Moon Lovers seems to be big on modern themed music while Go Princess Go tries its hand on more visual and modernized outfits & settings.

Both are historical dramas, that take place in the palace. There are politics and intrigues involved.

- They both fall in love with the FL first and would do everything to save her.
- The MLs have a close relationship with the emperor.
FL
- Both FLs are naive and childish initially, but they become strong and independent women.
- They go through hardship and that experience will sharpen them.
- It takes some time for the FLs to fall in love with the MLs but when they fall, they fall hard.
