It is good drama. I sometimes like watching sweet love stories. The plot is very abstract for me, because I can't imagine how parents can force their childern (adult children!) to marriage, because of own selfishness.

During watching this drama, I noticed how each of the characters have changed. There are also lots of funny situtations, so I wasn't bored. I was angry at Mae Ri, because she could't make any decision, but except of this, she's ok. Jang Geun Seok's charm is the biggest adventage of the drama. He is great actor in every production.

Fizzles out

This actually has a really good premise, even with all the cliches — disapproving parent, generational secrets, amnesia, cohabitation, contract marriage, etc. I felt like it actually started out really endearing, especially because the main male lead wasn't the typical cold and abrasive character, but was rather playful, fun, and nice to people who deserved it. I also liked the second female lead was nice and reasonable.

As the drama went on, however, it started to feel like we were reliving the same plot over and over the characters either became static or got worse. The entire drama was driven by the disapproving parent and even the music and the drama sub-plots seemed to take a backseat. The potential generational secrets fizzled into nothing, and both second leads just became irrelevant and horrible. I also just could not stand the second lead in this, so the fact that the love triangle was dragged on for so long (and mainly by external factors) was really annoying.

Our two main leads also just seemed to lose their identities, especially the FL who started off so strong — optimistic, yet able to stand up for herself and be mature. All that went away when the parental figures started to take up more screentime, and any plot elements just fell flat.

Ok..so it's Jang Geun Suk so we watched it..and then..**sigh**..Just imagine it took me weeks everytime I watch 1 episode and that's when I'm too bored I don't have something to watch. You can't imagine my frustration ..as you see..I'm only 2 episodes away and still didn't finish watching the drama. So what's the main problem? It's the story itself..the plot..c'mon! I kinda don't understand it, every episode is like the same old story..nothing that will make you excited. The actors were ok in terms of acting but Jang Geun Suk and Moon Geun Young just don't have that chemistry that I'm looking for and that just added to my frustration.

Well, the two main male actors are great everybody knows that *_* ! The story is about a girl struggling between a hot rich businessman guy and a hot poor musician guy. I liked the mood but no big suprise about the scenario. Cuteness but a lack of suspense. The sweet deep voice of Jang Geun Suk makes everything more beautiful, it lacks a little something in this drama to be really good. A shame...

I really like Jang Geun Seok and Kim Jae Wook and I had heard good thing about Moon Geun Young, so I started watching this with high hopes. And those three certainly didn't dissapoint! They were awesome.

Unfortunately, the story was lacking at the start and downright awful and ridiculous at the end. The dialogue wasn't awful, but it was like there was no character development at all and the choices the characters made were illogical and obviously only to create some dramatic effect.
It didn't; it didn't make me excited for the next episode, instead I found myself thinking:'I have to watch ANOTHER episode without a proper plot?!' But the three people in the love triangle are so charming, that it made it at least watchable. But I certainly do NOT recommend this show.

The idea was great. I'm a huge fan of Jang Keun Suk and Moon Geun Young. And the first four episodes were more than amazing. After that, though, it started to slowly go downhill... I'll admit it, I gave this show two shots. The first time I stopped watching it because I sensed I'd feel too bad for the Director, the second male lead. The second time was because, when my friends started watching drama, this is the one they chose, and so I decided to finish it. I couldn't. The story began to lack and some events were downright dumb. From what my friends told me happened afterwards, I don't regret the fact that I didn't finish it. However, this drama was my first. And though I didn't quite enjoy it, if it weren't for this show, I would've never begun k-drama. Maybe in the future, since I was already drawn into manga and anime, and some had recommended k-drama, but still... I give props to Marry Me Mary for that.

The thing about this drama, is that it had so much potential to be great, and didn't live up to it at all. The actors/actresses were great. Chemistry, talent, looks...it was all there, but the writing dragged it down too far to be redeemable. I was so excited for this show in the beginning, because I couldn't get over how. darn. cute. the leads were, and that holds true, they are adorable, but it wasn't enough to watch the whole 16 episodes on. I enjoyed the chemistry between the 3 leads, and I hope that one day someone else will write something worthy of their skills and they can have a 2nd chance to be adorable together on screen and actually successfully give us something really good to watch. There were some moments I really enjoyed still, and on the whole I think the reason why I consider this disappointing and give it a lower score is mostly because of what could have been.

This is my number 1 most favorite Rom-Com. It's musical (the OST's are all legendary). a totally different Jang Keun Suk after his previous roles (from 2009 and below).
I love JKS's hot, rockstar, artist image and how he fell in love with Mae Ri unconditionally. He played as a poor, starving musician that focuses his heart for music only (not like his other chaebol or rich man roles).
I didn't cry, it didn't contain heavy drama and crying scenes. Definitely a feel-good KDrama. This one made me head over heels with Kang Mu-Kyul (JKS); I've loved him so much more than Hwang Tae Kyung <3

Jang Keun Suk made the whole drama work for me, LOL

well i watched this drama because of JKS oppa and he obviously didn't disappoint. i liked this drama so much better than You're Beautiful.

in terms of story, i think i've almost forgotten almost entirely of what happened in the first half because Mary's character annoyed the hell out of me. the way she was intrusive to Moo Gyul's home and was physically clingy towards him made me feel like i was drawing blood from my eyes out of frustration LOL. i bawled my eyes so many times at the way Moo Gyul kept tolerating her when i would've literally just kicked her off to the curb, LMAO. but it's after ep. 8 specifically that the story has really drawn me in, when the two were handcuffed due to the prank by Moo Gyul's bandmates and how they finally owned up to each other's feeling that they kept on suppressing and denying all this while. so my favourable marks towards the story has obviously got a lot to do with the second half of the drama.

if i make any sincere attempt to detach Kang Moo Gyul's character from the actor JKS who played him, then i can obviously make a fairer assessment. he obviously does comes across very prideful at times. like when he went to Jung In's house one time and saw Mary trying out wedding dresses because she was instructed to, and she walked in her high heels to chase him, but he literally didn't stop to look at her. Jung In was the one who followed Mary, gave her his jacket and walked back with her when she had blisters from the heels. times and again such scenes happened where we can see Moo Gyul is the stubborn one and Jung In is the more gentlemanly one, so we as viewers started to wonder whether Mary would be better off with Jung In rather than Moo Gyul.

but throughout the story, i think the drama has also quite successfully laid bare the deeper parts of Moo Gyul's personality and how she's slowly melting his ice-cold heart or changing him to be more warm-hearted. this was probably the part i enjoyed the most while watching the show, the showing of his sensitivities and vulnerabilities worked on me, and i could relate and empathize to his character and childhood abandonment trauma deeply. by the end of it, that factor definitely determined my high level of enjoyment in watching this drama.

i definitely believe the low rating is caused by the way all three set of parents are written in this drama that comes across very absurd and despicable. Mary's father forces her to marry the son of a rich guy because he wants her to live a comfortable life, Jung In's father forces him to marry her because of his own undying love for Mary's mother and Moo Gyul's mother is literally a parasite who comes to him and goes whenever it conveniences her. but when i think back, the writer is not entirely wrong to make the parents this despicable because they do give motive to the story and happenings in the entanglement in the lives of their three children who got caught up in this mess.

without the parents' absurdities, Mary would not have pretended to be married to Moo Gyul and Moo Gyul if not as broken as he was, probably would not have found himself tolerating Mary's bullsh*t better LOL. and Mary's father is not entirely wrong to persist in wanting Mary to marry Jung In, after all, he's well mannered and well-to-do, someone who can secure a comfortable life for his daughter which he hasn't been able to do as a father, and when he finally fell in love with Mary too, that's literally game over for Moo Gyul, LOL. honestly i think Mary is a really lucky one in this case because her first love is someone who's fully committed to staying loyal to her and can steadily make a name for himself because he's so talented in what he does. first love rarely ends well as her father himself puts it and especially true for someone who's as novice as her in a relationship, because people do get blinded in love and ignore any red flags that may come their way.

all in all, i think this is the kind of couple that's really bound to last. it's the kind of drama that i feel has quite successfully build the case for a realistically well-matched couple, such that the drama ended not exactly at a fairytale romanticized ending but one that realistically say, "yes they are different, yes they still have issues that lead to childish breakups but as they mature more, they will also love each other better and that's how they'll survive this relationship until old age". ENDS

as for the music, the four songs that Jang Keun Suk himself sang that are I WILL PROMISE YOU, HELLO HELLO, MY PRECIOUS and TAKE CARE OF MY BUS are all outstanding, kekeke. i have them on my replays, the songs are really good and obviously I FCKIN LOVE HIS VOICE AND CHARISMA ON STAGE.

i'll definitely re-watch this at some point. definitely one of the better romance dramas out there despite all of its problems.

The best part is the music

I started watching this drama for Jang Geun Suk. He was one of the first actors that really got me into watching kdramas, so I pretty much tried to watch everything he was acting in. And of course, sometimes, that was definitely a mistake. The one thing that grabbed my attention about this drama, was the music. I listened to it even after it ended and it stayed with me even if the story and characters faded.

This drama is your typical romantic comedy. It's cute, at times funny with plenty of eye candy. It follows a similar plotline from other Korean dramas. Over the top comedic first-time encounter between the leads, that follows into a rich boy and poor girl fake marriage contract. And now you have two very different people stuck together and all the family the problems that ensue because of it.

For this type of drama, one doesn't really expect stellar writing, but it should at least keep the viewer engaged in a plot that makes sense. You get strung along from one ridiculous scene to another without much logic to it and find yourself watching these characters going around in circles, dealing with unreasonable and selfish parents. You're definitely not missing anything if you skip this.

Surprisingly good and sufficiently complex

9/10 is my rating. This is a 2010 South Korean romantic comedy drama with 16, 60 minute, episodes. It is also known as “Marry Me, Mary.”

Wi Mae-ri (Moon Geun-young) grew up in a tumultuous environment with a father who was frequently in debt and hiding from debt collectors. One day, while working odd jobs to support herself, she hits a pedestrian, Kang ul (Jang Keon-suck). Kang ul is a talented but struggling musician and reassures Mae-ri he is ok and won’t sue. Having trust issues she follows him and relentlessly persists he acknowledge he is not hurt and won’t sue in writing. Having a young single mother who was absent until she needed something, Kang ul quickly noticed a kindred soul when he realized Mae-ri’s living situation. Needing a place to stay he invited himself to Mae-ri’s and a friendship developed. While running from debt collectors, Mae-ri’s father, Dar-Han (Park Sang-kyung) runs into an old friend. Turns out it is a friend, recently returned to Korea, with whom there was an agreement for their children to marry when of age. Mae-ri's father sees the renewal of the agreement as a win win he can pay back his daughter by giving her a secure future with a wealthy and handsome husband and becoming a part of the family, his old friend will pay off his debts. His friend’s son, Byun Jung-in (Kim Jae-wook), always does as his father wishes. However Mae-ri has no intention of having an arranged marriage. Her friends and her concoct a ”fake” marriage with Kang ul just as her father counters her resistance by forging Mae ri and Jung-in’s signatures on a marriage registration. In order to persuade his daughter to do what he thinks is best for her Mae-ri’s father proposes a deal: for 100 days Mae-ri must spend time on a schedule with Kang ul and Jung-in and decide who she will marry at the end. Her father is confident she will choose steady and charming Jung-in over a struggling musician. Jung-in was promised investment by his father in his company so he is determined to win Mae-ri. Soon fake love becomes all too real and Mae-ri’s decision not so simple.

Spoiler ? I liked this overall. The romance was cute and it was well acted with great character development. I so strongly liked the second guy it was really difficult to watch as I could see in so many ways that he was a better choice. The fathers were pretty over the top and I thought Wi Mae-ri’s father, in particular, was a bit heavy handed given what his daughter had put up with from him. Kang Ul’s mom reminded me of some people I have known. She was an immature mother who leaned too heavily on her son for financial support. It kept me guessing until the end and even then I was a bit surprised.

I considered myself a Moon Geun Young fan, because I think she has an incredible talent for acting today. But it occurred to me to see My Little Bride and this drama at the same time. No more Moon Geun Young for me.

I loved Kim Jae Wook deeply for his half-Japanese in Coffee Prince, for his ganache in Antique Bakery, for his incredible role in Bad Guy, in Voice ... the sweet character of Temperature of Love ... And here fades worse of what he did in Who are you.

Kim Jae Wook is like a kaonashi (Sen to Chihiro No kamikakushi) begging affection ... I was sorry to see him like that. His acting versatility is incredible ... it really hurt to see him like that, and his horrible hairstyle.

I hate this drama. I will regret forever the time I lost seeing it.
