Let's go team!
It has been a year since I watched this drama, and I still have very positive feelings about it, which convinced me to finally write a review. I'm not sure why it took me so long to finish this drama. At the time, I think I was distracted with other shows. Once I finally dug in, I couldn't stop! If you love shows about friendships and teamwork this show is for you! If you love gaming, with the aforementioned, then move this up your watchlist!I really loved how Team Happy became a unit, the gameplay in the show was incredible, and no romance was ok! Even though handsome Yang Yang is the lead, it was nice to see him not play the ideal boyfriend, but instead a leader who finds himself struggling after getting kicked out of the league. His team of "misfits" were a perfect challenge and the resulting camaraderie was infectious.
Season 2 -- I really hope the entire cast returns with Yang Yang. It won't be the same without them.

Amazing sports series!!!
I would like to begin my review by saying i have seen almost 120+ korean dramas and i am new to c dramas, so I am exploring and hunting for new c dramas every other week. By now I have seen some 8 c dramas and among those most of them were sports based dramas. As this drama wis on Netflix it was easier to spot. I don't know why but I stopped watching drama after 12 episodes. I kept it hanging for many weeks, and I glad I gave it a chance to finish this series. My god!!! what a drama, a true sports drama indeed. This is the only drama where there are is no love bullshit and kudos to the writer where he has shown that a man and woman can be friends , colleagues, can become strength to each other by have no extra feelings. I was so glad that this series remained true to the theme till the end.It was all about "GLORY" and I loved it and I would not have mined if there was more of this.
Ye Xis's journey was very satisfying to watch. All the characters did justice to their roles. I would highly recommend this drama.

Watch this of course because of yang yang ^_^. But in the end fall in love with the story... :DNever expected can be excited to the typical game drama like this where there isn't love involved at all. Kinda hoping in the sequel there is a little bit love action between Ye Xiu (YX) with Su Mu Cheng (SMC) or Chen Guo (CG). My choice kind toward YX with SMC :D.
Really love how cunning YX when try to recruit his team mate. Expecially when he recruit Wei Chen. Love how YX can give the space that needed by his team mate even though he need them in reality. Love how talkative Huang Shao Tian is, he is so funny... ^_^. Quite impress how brave SMC when she leave her team mate in the middle of the competition.
This is the second time Yang Yang cast as the best gamer in the drama. Quite curious is Yang Yang really good at games or what... B)
Re-watch: Love to re-watch it from the begin to the end :D

Kickass Beats, Teams, & Gaming Feats!
The switch between irl with gaming sequences made this a unique and very fun viewing experience. The music was so expertly added that I found my investment so much higher from how hyped it got me. I appreciate that the sage leader had clear moments where he too was learning from his team. It's hard not to fall in love with the whole cast and be rooting for their success!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Story. Since I never heard of the novel. I have no idea and expectations. But I enjoy the build up of the story. They have the right amount of flashback and cheesy since that makes the scene not boring.
I love the chemistry between the characters and how they grow from episode 1 to finished. Never thought I will enjoy a series that doesn't revolve in romance, crime-thriller thingy. For a non-gamer, I learned something that made me wanna try playing something online. ;)
Music 11/10. All my feelings were intensify because of their songs. I still hear the music playing in my ears.
Give this a try and you'll never regret it.

Boring & overrated!
7+ is overrated! This series is boring and I kept skipping some parts. Although I still love Yang Yang. Maggie Jiang's acting is lame and flat. I think the only saving grace is the presence of Yang Yang although it didn't help much. The story is like a work of an intern with an average grade. It did't captivate me. The only reason why I reached episode 26 is because I skip most parts of the story. Even then it took me more than 3 months now to reach this episode - it is this uninteresting. There is a lot of insignificant and dull dialogue, the story is too ordinary without climax. I am greatly disappointed because I had high expectations.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
the chemistry between the main characters is noticeable and very important resulting in an enjoyable experience.

i liked it!!
i have never seen such gaming dramas.i was aout to drop it but as i went on watching and as i started understanding abt i was hooked.
ye xiu(yang yang) was really a master in it. he was really very clever and had a very good knowledge of situations in the game and outside the game.
the caste was amazing.i liked every character and the friendship it was showed in it.
i just wanted to have a romantic angle in it atleaast in the end. because there were 3 girls and i wanted to know that who is the one which suits the ML but its still fine as it showed a proffession.
now as at the end i understood every part of the game i want to see a season 2 to get a good and better ending.

Yang Yang as e-sports gaming idol
Perfect e-sports drama conveying the feeling of playing with a new e-sports gaming team starting from almost scratch.Yang Yang playing veteran gamer Ye Xiu and his team, friends and foes are excellent. Friendship and dedication, dishonest competitors who try every underhanded ploy to destruct the sapling guild XingXin, and upright opponents that stay frends outside the game, but no romance, no kissing.
This adaptation makes me want to perhaps also read the webnovel it is based upon. (There is a donghua about the story too, but I have not checked it out yet).
Production includes excellent game animation which illustrate the Glory gamers' view that "Glory is their world", even if staying with it could be short-lived.
The music is addictive, although the OST only has four songs.
Worth rewarching.

fast-paced and energetic pop-culture series
the series is suitable for younger audiences from about 10 years old to 30+ years old age group familiar with anime, manga, online games, pop culture, and activities involving sports-like teamwork. this series revolves around the struggles, efforts, friendships, and reconciliation of the past and present of the main protagonist whose career path spans 10+ years as a professional esports player. one key thing about this series is the focus on the present moment, reconciliating the past with the present, and how that affects the near future that will become a present moment.this series also tell the stories of struggles, efforts, and friendships of many other supporting players mainly in relation with the main protagonist. the series blends life acting with CGIs, and it consistently enriches the CGI stories with fast paced dialogues that are generally written well, and also energetic comments by the commentators/players/audience. it has a relatively fast paced stories and plots that deal a lot with personal decisions, social support/motivation/encouragement, overcoming obstacles, trusts, jealousy/envy, camaraderie, and hope and faith.
i was initially hesitant whether i want to start watching this series because i had the mindset that i might be sorely disappointed if the series fail to deliver a balanced good stories, good performances and balanced CGIs. but in the end, i am glad that i overcome my hesitance. another mindset that i had when i started watching this series is that there might be a romantic and romance competition/betrayal kind of plots in the series. but there were not. and that is a real welcome for a CDrama.
i think the director, the screen writer/s and the CGI team/s did a dedicatedly excellent job trying to balance the real life acting with the dialogues and the CGI actions. the CGIs felt complimentary to the real life acting. the quality of the CGIs is good, and the way the dialogues and how/where the CGIs are used to tell stories in the virtual setting are also good. this is also in part enhanced by the energetic and fitting background music/sound/noises. one of the strengths in this series is the arrangement/selection/editing of the background music/sound/noises.
the costumes/hair-style in this series are inspired in part by manga and in part by modern and pop culture. the props, set design/structure, and environment are definitely urban and current. it is a good thing that the series as a whole does not attempt to introduce futuristic mumbo-jumbos.
another thing i really like about this series is that the producer/director/screenwriters do not attempt to make this series about good versus evil, or about nasty characters. they do the characters as human and as humane as possible -- with shortcomings and strengths, but most importantly with the capacity and ability to overcome shortcomings and become a better person.
criticisms:
the actors acting are not all excellent and consistent. many of the supporting actors acting are mediocre and unconvincing. a few of the supporting characters can be annoying and unconvincing at times. sometimes there are scenes when the set or the ways the set are captured can feel a bit bland and off. i feel that some characters could have been given even stronger/better plots, dialogues and character developments, for example, Su Mucheng, Guo Guo, Luo Ji. somewhere in this series, internet addiction is mentioned very briefly. i think this is a real concerning issue that is intentionally ignored or not focused on by the director/editors/screenwriters.

Love it
The story is awesome, the acting is awesome, the music is awesome. I watched this series some years ago, but only found this site not so long ago, so recording all my watched series.I actually came to watch this because I really love Yang Yang's acting. The show is quite awesome - in my opinion - and the storyline is cool. Although the total episodes is abit long, but the action is there. This is one of the really few series I have watched without any romance element inside it except a world of gaming and competitiveness. The entire cast did a great job bringing this series to life. I would say Yang Yang is even more interesting in this series, especially when I only found out later that he plays twins.
The OST for this series is fantastic! I love every single song in this series. I would say it was paired beautifully.

Yang Yang's Best C Drama
Firstly, I just want to mention that I'm not a gamer at all and no nothing about esports but I learned a bit after watching this Cdrama.I can admit that I'm a fan of Yang Yang but I don't overly stan him hard and I don't like all the dramas that he's in. Sometimes I find that his acting is the same broody, main romantic lead. However, I really like him in this one. This is probably the only drama where I've seen him smiling and laughing the most and still have those serious moments. This is also the only drama I can recall where he's seen eating desserts! I like that Yang Yang plays a quiet and serious leader but he doesn't go into an overly broody persona. His character, Ye Qiu/Xiu wasn't overly strict or dramatic. Even when all that hype about why Ye Qiu left Team Excellent Era, it kept on the down-low without the truth being revealed.
I also like the fact that the King's Avatar avoids any romance. Seriously, the fact that there's no romance, really keeps the story focused on just the creation of the new team, Team Happy. There isn't any distraction of romance which makes the storyline even better. (However, I wouldn't mind if Dilraba made a cameo appearance in S2. Reprising her role in "My Glory" and makes a comment that Ye Xiu looks like her husband! That would be so funny!) But back to the King's Avatar, there just a lot of friendship build-ups, some conflicts and resolutions.
The way the story flowed from live to gaming (anime) was really smooth. The anime part was always interesting, sometimes comedic and often times exciting.
The only drawback I had was with the women in this show. I wasn't a fan of the women. Tang Rou's character was so annoying and every time she lost, the story always went in a direction like she couldnt handle it. She always sulked off like a real loser. Even at one point, another player says, "She's having a breakdown." Go figure, only a woman character gets described that way. Chen Guo, the manager was the most annoying of them all. I just didn't like her acting. I didn't find her strong enough to play the role that was expected out of her character. I just wanted to cut off the tails, (braids), in her hair. Ugh. But overall, I do think that the writers never gave any of the women a stronger vibe and there's only 3 of them out of the whole drama. Some of the guys were a bit annoying as well like the reporter kid, Little Moon, and An Wen Yi. It was very hard to like them.
Overall, I think I just like that fact that it's mixed live and anime. There are a few dramas like that but this is the only one I've actually enjoyed watching. They keep it simple in terms of gaming, and no over the board drama. This is one of the few dramas I go back and rewatch whenever I can. The OST seem really fitting and they played it at the right moments.
I hope that in the 2nd season, we will see the same smiling Yang Yang, more stronger women and more exciting anime.
