Yu Ran and Ji Ye try to feed Asule but he's still timid and distrusts them. The emperor announces to Wu Yi that he is planning to abdicate the throne to a wiser successor. A banquet is held for the big announcement but all hell breaks loose when the imperial guards begin massacring everyone in the palace. The Li army comes to the aid of Wu Yi and there is all-out bloodshed. Yu Ran and Ji Ye try to leave the palace with Asule, but the violence triggers something within him.
