Best watched mindlessly, with the analytical aspect of your mind shut off.
I believe that entertainment is best appreciated when it's kept varied - when there's a balance struck between engaging with genuinely artfully crafted media and media that exists mostly for the fun of it. I'm not saying that this show is trash; rather, my perception of it is that it's at its most enjoyable when it is being watched without reading too deeply into things and looking for profound meaning.Smile was done kind of dirty at the beginning. I understand that she's supposed to be innocent and a little childish, but... this is a plot revolving around college-age adults. The pigtails, huge glasses (although cute), and ESPECIALLY the squealing at the beginning of the series at every possibly wrong moment are all, combined, quite overkill. These traits also make Smile appear unsettlingly young considering the topic of the show and I really feel they could have been changed. Thankfully, this is only really a problem for the first handful of episodes and Smile grew on me a lot afterwards. Also, her outfits... I need them.
Liz is an interesting character, I guess, but hard to get behind because she's not really given a proper redemption arc or anything considering the mess she causes. Kyro is kind of in the same boat with her on that note (and who tf kisses someone and gets their hopes up only to then say "yeah I'm not really feeling it"? I know that's his character, but... dude). And I actually really enjoyed Badz from the beginning. He's pretty charming in a natural way and genuinely has good chemistry with Smile (Kyro's and Liz's was alright by comparison, nothing special really), so his relationship progression with her seemed natural. I also have to say that I liked that they made him act a bit awkward and dorky around Smile. Sure, he may be considered handsome, but I do feel like that added touch of clumsiness made him more endearing and realistic as a character.
I find it interesting that when it came to Badz and Smile's relationship, while the focus stayed with them in the present moment - what present circumstances are bringing them together, basically - the focus of Kyro and Liz's relationship seemed to be centered more around past (often rather sad) life events that naturally brought the pair closer together. Neither is necessarily better than the other, I just found this difference in approaches interesting.
The acting was fine, but I feel that Badz's actor - Tanutchai Wijitvongtong - shone best in his role. It's almost like he was being himself even while playing his character and it worked great. Kyro's actor, as well as the actresses cast as Smile and Liz, weren't bad, but I simply felt that Tanutchai's performance was strongest. Supporting actors also did a decent job (though I do wonder if Onnie's actress wasn't given enough proper direction), but some minor characters is where the acting got a little weird (I'm looking at you, guy who stole Liz's purse).
Will also note that the opening theme of the show legitimately sounds great and I actually would never skip it. I also appreciate that they also got people who could actually sing to fill the parts that needed singing.
Some notes on the less good stuff: I feel that the directing was a bit off for some of the actors in certain moments. They all seem to do a good job, but I suppose they were pushed for more excessive expressions of their characters' personalities (like Smile at the beginning of the show or Onnie throughout most of it).
The show also has like 6 different background music soundtracks that they reuse and while it's kind of funny, I can see that it could get very easily more annoying as one progresses through the show and has to hear the same score over and over. I also wish that they'd turned the volume down a bit on those tracks.
On numerous occasions, the show suffered from audio issues. I saw two or three scenes in which a character's mouth would move but I'd hear no dialogue. Additionally, I'm assuming they were on a tight budget or something and couldn't get boom mics or whatever because whenever characters would hug, the dialogue would get really muffled - probably because all the sound was being recorded by small mics on the actors' bodies. I'd also sometimes hear wind hitting the mics, and during that one scene towards the end where Liz cried as she performed, the dubbed-over track they used - though it sounded nice - did not reflect that she was actively sobbing as she sang. A bit goofy but still noteworthy.
And I'm still surprised they let Liz's actress just... dye her hair like that mid-shoot. Seeing her hair change from brown to black during basically every scene nearly gave me a seizure. It's crazy that they didn't even try to hide it.
Also, I'm not sure what the situation is like in Thailand when it comes to topics of sexual harassment/assault, but the writers would put moments that depicted such events in like... every episode. It was odd and they didn't handle the topic well, either. I get the feeling this was just more mediocre script-writing rearing its mediocre-looking head rather than a cultural difference, though, because even Badz did some iffy stuff like once or twice during the drama's runtime - and he's supposed to be the "good guy" lol. Just wanted to point this out.
As a final note: if any girls out there are reading this, if you have a friend like Onnie, maybe mull things over a bit. Because anyone who tries to control who you love and who makes you sign an agreement where only you get repercussions if you break it is unlikely to be a very good friend to you. There's nothing wrong with having friends who are there only for when you want to have fun with them, but I'd be wary of letting them too close into your life. They're not necessarily bad people, but the last thing you want is to have other people using your vulnerabilities against you for their own benefit.

this drama is quite unexpected
It's not really the kind of typical dramas I watch and it had a lot of twists. I could never guess how it would turn out until the last episodes. overall this is a good binge watch for a weekend. the leads are very eye candy. this drama is a overall rollercoaster, it made me happy, angry gave me second hand embarrassments and what not. it's very open minded. at first i thought 12 episodes weren't enough but 12 episodes all it took to portray the story so well. I don't think I would re-watch this but it was great as a first time watch.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Iv'e seen Fon and Mond in several other dramas but ho boy the chemistry between them is in another level just magical , bring out the best of them , it's like they meant for each other,(for acting at list:)) They both were boring actor, but now after this drama i like them both together they glowing, and should have just play together again i will be so happy and i think a lot of fans will also.
Story 3/10
Not original generic, very boring, girl rent a boyfriend so she can learn to catch another man heart
same old typical story at the end she fell in love with the rent boyfriend, and this story were in all language : Japanese, Chinese, south Korean...repeatedly
but here it's a lot worse, there are part that not make any sense and even dangerous from a women perspective
Smile getting almost raped couple of times but nothing happened to her emotionally and nothing happened to the criminals...not police, not jail hints, nothing they run a way free to rape another girl and she acting like nothing happen second after it. it's disturbing because it's putting women as a n object and that most men are evil , if she dressing short or going out at night a lone she is at risk.
The only good thing is their parts of two of them together, you can watch the all drama in one hour if you skip the others, they are lovely and cute so it's fun to watch to pass the time.
Episode 10, 11 are waste of time, not convincing at all, they drag the story too much and it's not flowing
The acting is so so it's ok...music is very boring no good in any way, cliche

SOOOO, This drama is such a roller coaster. Basically the girl who has a crush gets the boyfriend of the other girl and the other girl gets the girl's crush. It's veryyy veryyy juicy. I screamed and screeched so many times watching the first few episodes but then it lost me in mindless and tasteless nonsensical romance that morally would earn a slap or 2. The main male lead Kyro is a jerk that is very selfish and the singer female lead is also very immature. Instead of talking to her boyfriend she decides to get another guy to make him jealous. The male lead falls for her but claims he doesn't want an immature girl. It's very annoying. Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Every one wanted two at a time..no one seemed loyal to each other
Though story started really well..but I had to drop it ...
It was draggy
If smile lived kyro..she wouldn't be attracted to badz
If badz loved Liz he wouldn't be jealous of smile being with Kuro
If kyro loved Liz..he wouldn't kissing around girls
Surprisingly badz confessed to smile just after his breakup whereas he was soo much heartbroken when Liz brokeup
No one seemed sure of each other until very last
I don't know if it's fine with other but not with me

So ive watched my share of Asian dramas and this is one of the worst.I feel bad for the cast as the acting wasnt that bad. For me Liz and Pyro were the saving grace of the show. Both had good chemistry and their scenes togther we quite sweet. But the storyline was something else. It had good potential but it came across so boring and i regret watching it to be honest. So many holes in the plot and the fighting scenes were horrendous. If you are looking for disappointment then this is the show for you! If you are looking for a good drama...move on!

Aye Sarunchana, even younger actress, who nevertheless has proven she can portray grown and sensible characters ('Friend Zone', 'Friend Zone 2') portrays a girl who is already taken. Her boyfriend seems to never be there when she needs him, though. She does catch him feeding her clear lies.
The plot goes crazy since episode 1, where the girl with looks of Fon Sananthachat decides to hire a "boy for rent" to teach her how to be seductive with men, so that Lee Thanat's guy won't refuse her again. We can see her in a sequence wearing no glasses and tiny shorts & top, which only reveal that her body is tiny also, like a middle-schooler's. Also, she's to PRACTICE how to win guy's heart... with somebody else.
Meanwhile, Aye Sarunchana's taken girl also decides to hire "boy for rent", as she figures she doesn't have to be guilty for it. Unfortunatelly, no one hires Victor Chatchawit, who is there only as a intermediary. Mond goes shirtless for most of the episode 2-3, still he cannot quite compensate, and I actually prefer him dressed, LOL.
I must say I ceased to understand the "plot" soon. Also, I had no idea who the endgame couples are supposed to be. Usually, all it takes is to scroll at Cast & Credits on MDL and click "View All", usually the couples are listed nicely next to each other. But here, we have girls next to each other and boys next to each other. It all gives me kinda similar vibe as 'Friend Zone', like "we don't care whether this looks like romance line for you, let's just try and put together these two, then these two".
We then watch the... er... couples? That's where the problems starts. One couple is Mond & Fon. He's there for her as "boy for rent" to help her out in romance department & also protect her, because she gets almost molested after being shown at stage at a club, where everyone could see there's nothing much to see on her, still one of the guys follows her and tries to molest her? (A weird and unconvincing scene, if you ask me.) While he actually dates Aye Sarunchana's character, but he has to broke up with her because he can't really be there for her, blah blah blah... It's all so not enjoyable watch. I was willing to give the chance to 'Friend Zone', though that was also not enjoyable for the entire 1st season. But, not again. I find this entirely dumb, to be honest.
Fon Sananthachat isn't cute, she is weird 25 year-old with a 15-year old body. I didn't cheer for her with Mond, I didn't cheer for her with anyone. Aye Sarunchana's character cried most of the 3rd episode and I honestly was tired of her couple line with Mond's character already, too. Should she get together with Lee Thanat, instead? He portrays a guy that seems to be too much above it all... And I don't even like these two together, either. I don't really care what happens. And if I don't care about it now, I don't need to waste my time 9 more times.
Someone obviously thought the 'Boy For Rent' sounded cool and had interesting concept, but what of it? It's not like they could really rent a boyfriend. It wasn't about sex, either. Honestly, I didn't get what it was about.
