For the Love Of An Angel!

All in all, this is an exquisite story about love, loss, sacrifice, and forgiveness as an angel finds himself in love with a woman and whether or not a love such as theirs is even possible. This lends much of the intrigue to the story about how an angelic being can condescend to human love, or if it is even possible.

Despite the fact that much of ideals and beliefs surrounding “God” and “angels” is medieval and extremely primitive, the story still manages to work, as long as you can suspend your disbelief. The best series I’ve ever seen about angels is “Highway to Heaven,” a landmark American series that saw angel, Jonathan Smith, going around trying to spread a little love and life on his missions.

This series is very “Old Testament.” We have a vengeful, jealous “God” who demands obedience and who has no problem exacting punishments. Only a person with ego, who creates a “God” in his/her own image, could ever possibly conceive of a “God” filled with human ego. This is another reason why “God” can never be found or understood through books and scriptures—books and scriptures that were written by men. However, for the purpose of this story, you have to allow yourself some leeway, knowing that God, Herself, is getting a serious kick out of this interpretation!

Angel Kim Dan is given a mission—a last mission—for interfering in human affairs by saving a human woman, Lee Yeon Seo. He’s given exactly 100 days to help her find love, or risk oblivion. The first handful of episodes are highly comedic, as we quickly find that Lee Yeon Seo is a rich, spoiled, conceited brat who is colder than glaciers! She barks at her house staff and doesn’t seem to have a shred of happiness. Part of the problem is that her eyesight was taken in a show where she performs as a ballerina—one of the absolute best in the business, due to her ability to bring tremendous feeling into her performances.

As always, there’s far more that’s going on than meets the eye, as we quickly find out that Lee Yeon Seo’s twisted aunt is plotting to take the “Fantasia Ballet Company” away from her. Little do either of them know that her aunt’s sociopathic daughter, Geum Ru Na is plotting something far darker and more sinister!

Not only is Kim Dan trying his best to eek out a morsel of feeling from the cold Yeon Seo, but he’s also having to protect her from her crazed family members. On top of that, we have Ji Kang Woo, the new artistic director for the ballet company who brings his own tragic past with him. Ji Kang Woo is a fallen angel who was condemned to live as a human being after the loss of a human woman who looks remarkably like Yeon Seo. Of course, he quickly becomes obsessed with Yeon Seo, as well as bringing his bitterness and anger to bear against “God” and all of the angels. As soon as he finds out the truth about Kim Dan, their rivalry heats up, and Ji Kang Woo does everything to try to convince Yeon Seo that a life with Kim Dan is impossible.

The first half of the series plays out much like the “Taming of the Shrew” in which Kim Dan is constantly trying to find some way to like a fire under the ice princess. Of course, it becomes apparent that they are in love with each other, after a few “back and forth” scenarios. You know the kind I’m talking about. She confesses her feelings. He flees. He confesses his feelings, and she stays…until she finds out that he’s an angel, and then she tries to flee (despite the fact that literally saves her life and doesn’t even get a shred of gratitude for it!).

The last four episodes or so are pure gold as Kim Dan races to find a way to become human, and Yeon Seo also finds herself on her knees in a church begging, demanding, and pleading for something to be done. Neither refuses to let go of the other, and neither will allow the other to be sacrificed so that the other may live.

At one point, Kim Dan is told that it’s a sin for an angel to love a human. I couldn’t help laughing at the sheer absurdity of such a statement. Angels are all about love! And by the time the series ends, it becomes painfully obvious that Kim Dan succeeded in his mission: Yeon Seo has, indeed, found out what it means to love, and Kim Dan also finds out the joy of loving someone as well. A sin? The only “sin” is suggesting that this is in any way, a sin. It’s amazing how often people attempt to make something wonderful and loving into something bad and impure.

There’s a sweet backstory that was especially poignant, in which we find out that Kim Dan was actually Yeon Seo’s childhood friend, and that he died trying to escape his abusive father. Yeon Seo is heartbroken when she finds out, as she’d always hoped that he was alive somewhere—completely unaware that Kim Dan is that soul.

I’ve said it in so many reviews, but it has to be said again: Shin Hye Sun is simply a marvel to watch. This woman has such range—she can take on any part and make it her own. This is the first time I’ve seen her play a cold, spiteful woman, but man, she nailed it! And then, just like a light switch, we see just how easily she taps into the reservoir of love and feeling. Her emotions are so powerful and heartfelt, that you feel them as the viewer.

I must say that Kim Myung Soo (Kim Dan) was her equal. Playing the playful, light-hearted angel to tapping into those baser, human emotions, and dealing with potential loss easily matched Shin Hye Sun’s. Perhaps that is why their chemistry was unmistakable and why it worked so well. I think I could have easily watched these two for another ten episodes.

I especially enjoyed the fact that this relationship was balanced. None of these silly mind games, or one chasing the other while giggling and saying, “No, don’t!” when they don’t mean it. No parental interventions either. It doesn’t happen often enough in K-dramas where two adults can simply love and show their affections. It was more refreshing than I can say, and I was very grateful for it.

I’ve always enjoyed the ballet, and I wish I’ve seen more performances than I have, but I also loved the music and dancing in this series as well. It truly is a magnificent art form that doesn’t get as much notoriety as it deserves.

If you’re looking for a series that feels like cuddling up with a loved one on a cold night in front of a fireplace, then this series should definitely work for you!

I love this drama SO BLOODY MUCH ✨✨??

This drama was so adorable, fun and easy to watch. You can really get hella invested with the main leads lives and their rs. The whole enemies to lovers trope was sooo nicely executed without making them too cliche or basic.
my HEART AND SOUL was super into the main leads rs during the entire drama and I cried buckets when they were apart. Like the writer really had no problem in making me cry to the point where my eyes were puffy asf the next morning. 💪🏻😭💪🏻

Other than the crying, I didnt really like the second ML cause i just found him annoying but on the other hand the second FL was an interesting and likeable character. The struggles she had growing up and her development was nicely played out. In the end i was rooting for her happiness.
Altogether i think this drama is definitely a nice and fun one to watch. Totally recommend 👍🏼👍🏼💕💕

**no spoilers here - don't worry **
Well now....there sure are two camps to this drama. I think what's impt is that both camps watched the whole thing....(at least most from my scan of the comments).... I already like the female lead since My Golden Life and everything since...so I knew I'd like whatever she did here. She is reliably great.

Lee Dong Gun should just stick to ML roles. He is such a good actor and so good-looking that any part where he's not the lead isn't taking advantage of him. Except one - in Queen for 7 Days, he blew that character off the screen.... As far as I am concerned there were 2 male leads there. In this drama, though, he was in a regular 2nd male lead role . Every step of the way, I just kept thinking he has so much more potential they could add to the story. No harm, no foul though.

Finally, "L" was the refreshing component for me. I already have him on my Up & Coming Fav Male Actor's list. This drama is his best so far and showcased a whole new set of acting dimensions. He's so talented in this that from here on, he better not be in anything other than a male lead role. And he's the only male character I can think of that makes sense and looks phenomenal in a pink suit. I love his one song he made for this show too. It hits home everywhere its used. Beautiful. https://youtu.be/RCjtm1x0kLw He brings so much to that table as an artist and is super handsome to boot.

Then ending for me....too interpretive. I *think* I get what happened but am second-guessing myself. I think they should have been more crystal clear here...no need to creating all thispost-drama angst. In this case, I'm not upset about it enough to rip the writers a new one, but I am feeling a little deflated. Is it worth watching?...absolutely YES. It's a good story with good actors and good acting. Is it the best I've ever seen? Nope....but I loved watching it and was compelled each week to watch the eps. Enjoy if you haven't watched yet.

Top 5 miglior drama visti

My comfort kdrama

Watching this heartwarming K-drama, you'll experience a rollercoaster of emotions. From joy and laughter to frustration and tears, the series captivates viewers with its compelling storyline and well-developed characters. Each episode is a carefully crafted blend of humor, drama, and emotional moments that resonate deeply with the audience.

The casting is impeccable, with each actor perfectly embodying their respective roles. Their performances are so authentic and nuanced that it's easy to forget they are acting. They bring their characters to life in a way that makes you feel their joys and sorrows as if they were your own. The chemistry between the cast members is palpable, adding an extra layer of depth to the relationships portrayed on screen.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this drama is its ability to connect with viewers on a personal level. The storylines are relatable, often reflecting real-life situations and dilemmas. This relatability fosters a sense of attachment, making you invested in the characters' journeys. You find yourself cheering for their successes, sympathizing with their struggles, and eagerly anticipating each new episode.

The production quality is top-notch, with beautiful cinematography that enhances the storytelling. The settings are visually stunning, and the music score perfectly complements the mood of each scene, further immersing you in the narrative.

It's not just a show; it's an emotional experience that stays with you long after the final episode. The combination of a compelling script, talented actors, and high production values creates a drama that is both entertaining and deeply moving. It's no wonder that this series has garnered such a devoted fanbase. Somehow, I found myself incredibly attached to this drama, and I'm sure many others will feel the same. It's a must-watch for anyone looking for a show that is both heartwarming and profoundly impactful.

Angel's last mission: love

I am so happy that I found this drama, Shin Hye Sun is amazing actress (it is so impressive that she learned ballet for this role), chemistry between leads was very good, the story was perfect for happy and sad moments and I am very satisfied with the ending.
I wish that more people would know this cause it's really worth watching.

Angel’s Last Mission is a good light romcom that brings up a love story between a human and an angel. There’s character development throughout the drama for both leads and some supporting characters. Although there are some plot twists that could eventually separate the leads, they remain steadfast to their intent on loving and protecting each other, their chemistry is nice but not strong enough which makes some of their the romantic scenes dispassionate. Although at the end the main leads end up together, the ending feels rushed and unimpressive since it doesn’t deliver the emotions of a reencounter brought up through devoted love and sacrifice. Overall, the drama has some weak elements but it is entertaining.

First, a warning: I am a sucker for the nice leading man. And since this is still, apparently a hard thing to find in K-dramas (that or I am very unlucky in my choices), any series that has that already scores a ton of points with me.
Now, let us get to the review of Angel's Last Mission: Love.

The story arc and character development of Lee Yeon Seo and, in contrast, the steadiness of Kim Dan’s character – always happy and optimist – was what made this series for me, what got me hooked and invested. Both of their characters were endearing and enjoyable. They completely won me over (even if Kim Dan’s main assets were a little lost by the end of the series, with the explosion of melodrama).

The way their relationship was built, how it shifted over time, how they became closer to each other was the highlight of the show, in my opinion. My favourite aspect of the drama. Yeon Seo and Kim Dan have amazing chemistry and the way they developed feelings for each other felt natural and believable.

Now, the not so good… I did find that the story became too melodramatic towards the end and I found the motives and plotline of the Yeon Seo’s aunt and Geum Ru Na were a bit simplistic and the characters a bit two dimensional. And, when they tried to give a new dimension to the aunt character, I also found that her plotline ended up being confusing.

Other positive points of the series for me were Geom Ni Na and Archangel Hoo characters. They had compelling and interesting stories that had me invested in them.

Archangel Hoo and Kim Dan’s relationship as well as Yeon Seo and her butler’s relationship were also a big plus for me – I loved their interactions!

I decided to watch this just 5 days ago and was able to blast through the episodes in the shortest time possible. The main plot was okay. I disliked the fact that they used one-dimensional evil characters to drive certain parts of the story. I also didn't like the laundry list of rules angels supposedly follow in this world, but I did enjoy how the film delves into the philosophy of the existence of evil and the existence of an omniscient and benevolent deity. The film assumes a world where God and angels definitely exists, but also asks poignant questions that people ask all the time in the real world.

As for the performances were good but one of the reasons why I even began thinking about writing a review here was because I especially gravitated towards Shin Hye Sun's portrayal of Lee Yeon Seo, the distressed, handicapped but eternally grumpy ballerina who has all the power but living through a world that clearly no longer wants her - including her extended family. I first saw Shin Hye Sun as Woo Seo Ri in Thirty But Seventeen and already noticed her undeniable charisma, but she was EXCEPTIONALLY MESMERIZING as Lee Yeon Seo. She literally carried the whole series and stole every scene she's in.

On the other hand, L as Kim Dan felt like he was playing a side character for the 1st half of the series - almost as if his sole purpose was for comic relief. His was almost child-like next to Hye Sun's performance, but he did show some promise in the later episodes. He also looked a lot younger than Hye Sun, so that didn't help to establish him as the male lead next to Hye Sun's stoic and electrifying Lee Yeon Seo.

If you hate the fantasy plot or any other aspect, I'd still recommend this drama solely for Hye Sun's performance. She will hypnotize you. She will make you mad. She will make you sympathetic. And she will make you an overnight fan. After this, she has become my #1 Korean actress when it comes to acting chops and now I'm eagerly anticipating her next project.

The cast and OST deserve as 10!

L did a great job once again!
Shin hyensun looked like a real ballerina and what else, man this woman is really talented as hell.
The story was great though the cousin plot seemed a bit bland or unnecessary, you can watch this drama just for the main leads.
The chemistry is what i lived for! They were so cute together and thank god the ending was the way it ended.

Shin hye sun was phenomenal in this piece, her performance brought life and excitement to the drama. The drama centers around a blind ballerina who has the privilege of seeing again due to the death of someone she loves and encounters a man who is an angel that helps her to love not only others but herself. This drama started out really well not so much as it ended. The storyline is indeed creative and the perspective of the arts not in music but dance was really refreshing. I loved the perspective of the director but the screen writing not so much. The music was good enough but it would have meant so much more to the scenes if it was better. The characters were carefully thought out and brought to life by great actors, but the chemistry was much more expected from the main leads. I really enjoyed this drama and you can to if you watch it!

No words could describe how I love this drama. Almost everything is perfect– from the acting down to the story, characters, and OSTs! Angel's Last Mission: Love easily became one of my faves mainly because I really like the acting and how I easily got attached. There were some moments when I had to hold back my tears, this drama touched my heart. Shin Hye Sun never disappoints! (same is true with the other actors but SHS just stood out to me). Also the chemistry was off charts! They were really cute like puppies when together but also fierce when faced with conflicts. Power couple! I aso could feel each moment thanks to the OSTs. “Oh My Angel” is my ultimate fave among them. Overall, I really had a fun watch. The actors portrayed their roles really well and the story, although not so extraordinary, was well delivered also. My favorite side character has got to be Archangel Hu, he's adorable too! There were minor issues I had with the last episode and some confusing moments along the way but overall, I liked how it ended. Just perfect ~
