Not a favourite thats for sure
I glanced at some other reviews so I'll also preface this by saying I havenât seen Something in the Rain either. I randomly decided to watch this after not starting anything new for a while after fishing Rain or Shine. If I'm remembering correctly, I believe I saw it suggested as a drama I'd like if liked Rain or Shine.Unfortunately the mundane mood I enjoyed in my last drama felt annoying in this one. There were so many food scenes. Like I get that ppl eat and eat out and maybe it's a cultural thing too, but it felt excessive here. Like I saw more eating than action.
The drama felt like it dragged on and on and took me a while to finish because it was so frustrating. For instance the FL takes forever to break it off with her bf like more than 8 eps. I also found her annoying tbh. In fact most of the characters in this were annoying and not really memorable besides the ML, his friends, and family. Tbh the only thing keeping me going was seeing more of the son and my stubbornness to finish it at least.
I also found that I only laughed twice throughout 16 eps which sucks đ€Ą
The ost is also super repetitive to the point where I got annoyed.
As someone who loves sharing kdrama with others this is one I don't deem worthy of showing to my mom.
I'm glad I'm done it and I don't plan on a rewatch ever.

Kinda flat
First the good, the OST is quite good and I still listen to it...particularly the Rachel Yamagata songs. Beyond that, it's a monotone exercise in melancholia. Appropriately, most of the scenes are rather dark as if electrical lighting outside of the pharmacy maybe, doesn't exist. The characters seem to sleepwalk through their scenes wallowing in their minor yet seemingly intractable problems. There just never is any change of pace or real energy to liven up the show. Conclusion: cheaters, aka Jeung In, are just unlikable like that
Went into this series right off the back of SITR and mainly for the sake of Hae In. I didnât have that huge of expectations but this still managed to disappoint.The story seemed like it was put together last minute and no amount of good acting could save the nonsensical plot, lines and actions of the characters; particularly the female lead.
Jeung In was portrayed as this strong, decisive confident person while in reality she was just self-cantered, self-absorbed, and anything but decisive.
And her inability to communicate properly was the cherry on top. It made any attempts at trying to portray her character as this private, independent kind of person who keeps to themselves fall flat as all she only managed to appear as was defensive and childish.
From her being passive aggressive to her EX instead of just breaking it off completely to her continuing to still meet up with him after each âbreak upâ; being all moody screaming at him one day and inviting him to wine and dine the next, and dear lord donât get me started on the cheating which for some reason everyone avoided calling it that. Making it seem like her actions were justified and instead shifting the blame to the male lead.
Speaking of which, Ji Huâs character I did not mind but at times his relationship with his son seemed.. off and yet again I blame it on the bad writing. His feelings for Jeung In were unjustified as she was nothing but rude to him. Was he just desperate? I donât know. Their whole relationship didnât make sense; how they jumped from liking one another to being crazily in love, none of it made sense.
As for other characters, her older sisterâs inability to just get a divorce and get it over with just annoyed me. I get it societal pressure and what not but, yet again, it must be the poor writing âcuz I did not feel none of it. As for the youngest sister, even though a lot of people seemed to like her, I couldnât. She was imposing and immature and the way she kept on stalking that dude was just creepy.
Each and every episode was basically the same thing. The plot didnât go nowhere. Characters would meet, converse in lines that, despite the good acting, felt extremely shallow, argue about struggles that were very difficult to relate to when you couldnât make sense of the plot and that was pretty much it.
And while SITR was not my cup of tea when it comes to k-dramas, it was a well-written show and I overall enjoyed it. The fact that OSN was by the same director was even more disappointing.
Using the same themes and âconceptsâ like the osts for instance. Has the show been more well-written I wouldnât have minded it, but as the episodes continued it felt just lazy.
As far as realism goes, they did get one thing right. People who cheat are damn unlikable.
But to give credit where credit is due, and after finishing this drama (skipped forward a lot of it), The female lead acting in silent moments; or when nothing seemed to be happening i.e. having food, lazying around the house was very natural and I honestly was impressed with a lot of these âjust hanging aroundâ scenes.
Yet again, the acting was never the problem.

Naturally, this will draw comparisons to Something In The Rain. Similar backroom staff, same male lead, similar vibe in the story but this plays out much smoothly and has a way more satifying ending. The love story is heartfelt and relatable even if you're not in the same situations. The ordeal with the parents and side characters is more bearable and fleshed out. I like that there was no real villain. Ki Seok's character is bullish and arrogant but in some way, he's still down to earth and you can feel for him at times despite the character's stalkerish tendencies. The marriage proposal was wonderfully laid out. It was so casual yet loving and perfect. Getting the kid to do it for you - a magical moment. The acting was super strong and nuanced. I can't rag on any of the cast for their performances. Whether it was the leads or the side characters, everyone had a distinct, interesting character. Everything seemed to natural and seemless. I had no probably parashuting into this world and accepting the characters for their choices.
The soundtrack might cause a few debates. The song list is limited but the songs are memerable and add to the scenes they are used for. That's all that's required.
I think the re-watch value is in the Jung Hae-In and Han Ji Min chemistry and on-screen relationship. Every scene is worth watching with them in, from the beginning of a reluctant friendship to a blossoming relationship.

"We could still be happy"
There are some dramas that you just don't watch for mere entertainment instead they make you think, leave you speechless and leave an impact on you even after days of completing it. One Spring Night was exactly that for me.After watching the first episode itself I knew this one was going to hit me hard emotionally. I am not saying this drama was perfect because well, it's not everyone's cup of tea considering the fact that it's a slow burn and has minimal humour. But the way it portrayed the lives of some imperfect people perfectly was enough to get me hooked.
It tackled some of the very hard pressing problems of living in a prejudiced society in an extremely realistic way that every viewer might just find it relatable at one point or another. The main focus was obviously on the relationship between the leads but the inclusion of family traumas and taboos like single parenthood, infidelity, domestic violence and male chauvinistic pride in the plot as heavy and loud backdrop will make everyone sit up and take notice even if one doesn't wants to.
Coming to their take on relationship and intimacy. Oh, it was such a beautiful journey to watch. I could probably feel them fighting their emotions but at the same time also surrendering to it. As problematic as it seemed, it was dealt with absolute care. The romance wasn't rushed at all. The leads took their time at resolving both their inner and outer turmoils one by one (as it should be) while also acknowledging and accepting their feelings for one another. I mean every plot arc hits so close to the heart in this one. Which just shows the realistic and mature efforts put into it as a whole.
Cinematography was so breathtaking that every scene can be screenshoted and put up as wallpaper, no kidding.
The background music can come off as a little repetitive at times but that's only because the music matches the vibe of the drama perfectly and Rachel Yamagata's voice is so soothing that I couldn't possibly have complaints in this department.
At some moments you'll wish to fast forward this drama but control that urge, know that you're gonna miss out on its essence. This drama unapologetically sets its own pace and I had a wonderful time following through each and every second of it.
Also, bonus points to the writer for creating such independent, fierce and strong willed female protagonists. You hardly see that anymore.
So if you're tired of watching them cheesy rom-coms and need something close to reality that pulls on your heartstrings with great plot and even better acting, this one's probably it.
I gave this drama an 8.5 rating initially but considering the fact that it keeps replaying on my mind at random moments, I had to do the needful.

What makes me fall in love with this show is that it doesn't dilute the intensity of character progression with plot and is paced perfectly. There are times when the main leads just sit and do nothing, it makes you think and understand what is going on in their heads and how they are feeling. The OST fills these silences perfectly. I can keep rewatching the conversations between the main leads forever. The side characters are fun and play a good role in supporting the main cast.
This drama is simple, beautiful and satisfying. I hope you give this a try.

I was not watching it at first because I already knew that it is going to be a very slow story. The plot seems very interesting to me so I started watching it but âŠâŠâŠâŠOverall it was good but slow and last 3-4 episodes were torcher to watch
Firstly
Lee Jung In and Kwon Ki Seok relationship creep me out. He was not her boyfriend but a stalker. How many time she try to breakup with him but he still keeps following her and still talking about marring her is ridiculously uncomfortable for me to watch
Secondly
Lee Tae Hak [Jung In's father]. Who want a father like him? He forcefully want to marry her second daughter for his personal benefits then when he get to know that her first daughter is assaulted he still forcing her to not to get divorce
These two points were very uncomfortable but it is good to watch female lead to stand for herself and she chooses her own path and fight with these two creepy persons in her life and find true love. Shin Hyung Seon [Jung In's mother] is a very nice character who struggle for her daughters to get them their rights.
I am really disappointed they did not do anything with Kwon Ki Seok in the end. He really needs some learning of ethics but he still got a nice end

it is the show number 1 for me and I do not see when this might change
I think I was lucky to start my introduction to Korean dramas from watching this show. It started my obsession with kdramas and, though I only started to watch kdramas from the Summer 2023, I already probably watched close to 100 of them and can state with confidence that OSN is my number one show. I come back rewatching it many times. Too many.I am actually surprised that it doesn't have the rating it really deserves. To me, it is the drama that most close to real life. Or, let's say, the life I would really like to see for myself. Main characters are just amazing, their personalities, their life values, their loyalty - they are just my dream friends whom I would like to know.
What I like most about this show is the consistency of all the characters - they do not change their views depending on a situation, they definitely have core values and that it makes the show so solid. FL is just such a strong person - she definitely went through a lot of struggle about her relationship with her bf, but once she realized what she really wants, she was so consistent in pursuing it, so refreshing from most of the kdramas where main characters act sporadically and make their own decisions without talking to their other halfs. ML is also adorable and loyal - and the chemistry between them is off the charts.
OST is also amazing. It's a little bit cheesy to have the same music played at the most important moments, but despite that it gives me goosebumps every time :).
All the support characters did such a great job - it just so awesome. I often skip interactions between non main characters but not in this show. The story of the older sister of FL is so touching.
The only minor negative in this show for me was when ML was interacting with FL's ex-boyfriend and saying that he won't let slide whatever that ex-bf was doing. But nothing really came out of those "threats". It was kind of lame. Another unnecessary scene was when ML was very drunk and said something he would never said if he was sober. I think they made it too dramatic - there was nothing there imho, but again - that was not a big deal.
Overall, I rewatched this show many many times - too many I guess, but it is such a nice story every time I think about it. I do not think I will ever experience the set of emotions I experienced when I watched it first time.

Parce que de lâamour, oui, il y en a, et pas quâun peu, mais de la romance, point du tout !! Pas miĂšvrerie, pas de guimauve, pas de vile morue qui vient se mettre en travers, enfin rien de ce qui fait le drama de base ! MĂȘme pas lâhabituel « je tâaime mais je te quitte » dâailleurs les hĂ©ros se lâinterdisent : ne te sers pas de ça pour me quitter ! jâĂ©tais aux anges !
Lâhistoire est ancrĂ©e solidement dans la rĂ©alitĂ©, les personnages sont parfaitement crĂ©dibles, les situations tout Ă fait vraisemblables et rĂ©alistes⊠en CorĂ©e !!
Parce que chez nous personne ne considĂ©rerait comme une tare horrible dâĂȘtre un papa cĂ©libataire qui Ă©lĂšve parfaitement avec lâaide ses parents un amour de petit garçon de six ans ! Mais il semble quâen CorĂ©e, il aurait mieux valu quâil le largue dans le premier orphelinat venu ! Alors si quelquâun qui connaĂźt la CorĂ©e passe par lĂ et peut mâexpliquer cet Ă©trange phĂ©nomĂšne je suis preneuse !!
Lâhistoire est donc ancrĂ©e dans le rĂ©el corĂ©en, car le pouvoir de la volontĂ© paternelle sur des enfants adultes et indĂ©pendants financiĂšrement nous paraĂźt Ă peine croyable, et la force contraignante de lâopinion des autres et la puissance de la norme que cette opinion gĂ©nĂšre est quand mĂȘme difficile Ă comprendre pour nous, mĂȘme si câĂ©tait comme ça chez nousâŠau XIX siĂšcle!
Mais ce drama est avant tout une histoire de femmes ! Ce sont elles les moteurs puissants de lâhistoire, les trois filles qui, chacune Ă leur maniĂšre, se battent pour pouvoir vivre leur vie et non celle quâon veut leur imposer, (dâailleurs peut-ĂȘtre que la 3Ăšme a ramenĂ© sa libertĂ© de parole de France !! ), les mĂšres, qui, gardiennes de la tradition et du « comme il faut » vont laisser leur amour maternel prendre le dessus et leur ouvrir le cĆur. Nâoublions pas les amies de lâhĂ©roĂŻne, drĂŽles et solides au poste, comme la pharmacienne patronne de Ji Ho, une une sorte de vraie grande sĆur, Ă la fois sage, encourageante et lucide !
Par contre, on ne peut pas dire que lâimage donnĂ©e des hommes soit Ă leur avantage : bornĂ©s, butĂ©s, lĂąches, brutaux, vaniteux, arrogants, que ce soit les pĂšres ou les jeunes, ils sont affreux, mais heureusement il y en a trois qui sauvent lâespĂšce. Le pĂšre de Ji Ho, plein de bon sens et de gĂ©nĂ©rositĂ©, le copain que se fait Jae In, capable aussi de voir plus loin que « ce qui se fait » et de comprendre que « câest lâamour, idiot !" comme il le dit Ă un copain , et le troisiĂšme le meilleur, câest Ji Ho, lâhomme quâon voudrait toutes pour amoureux ou pour fils, ou pour gendre suivant les Ăąges !!
Alors pendant 16 Ă©pisodes on va voir Jeong In et Ji Ho se battre contre les autres mais aussi contre eux-mĂȘmes, car on leur a appris que leur amour ne pouvait ĂȘtre quâimpossible, ils doivent commencer par se convaincre eux-mĂȘmes avant dâaffronter les autres !
En mĂȘme temps on dĂ©couvre la problĂ©matique du divorce, de la violence conjugale (et jâai bien lâimpression que les CorĂ©ens sont en avance sur nous quant Ă pĂ©nalisation de ladite violence ! ).
Les dialogues sont excellents, avec ce quâil faut dâhumour, les personnages parfaitement Ă©crits, parfaitement interprĂ©tĂ©s, les situations sont prenantes, touchantes, Ă©mouvantes, attendrissantes⊠car pour une fois ils sâaiment, et ça se voit !! Il nây a pas juste le premier baiser et aprĂšs câest Ă peines on se prend la main pendant 16 Ă©pisodes. Non, lâamour est lĂ , bien lĂ , on le voit et on sourit malgrĂ© soi tant câest communicatif !
LâOST est superbe, il y a mĂȘme Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, donc pas de hurleuse (ha ha ha ! )
Que dire de plus que : REGARDEZ « ONE SPRING NIGHT » de toute urgence !!

I think what makes this show and SITR a bit different is that it takes out the abnormal, the "other worldly" aspects out of the picture and SLOWS IT DOWN. This forces the drama to find emotional highs and lows, conflicts, and character development elsewhere like in realistic social issues, duty vs desire, and a realistic romance. I love the scenes where they sit and do nothing sometimes not even looking or talking to each other BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS IN LIFE SOMETIMES. When reading music the goal of silence is to carry the tension and this show does just that. In the silence the viewer is forced to think about what the character's might be thinking about and creates a tension through just silence itself.
The OST itself reflects the simplicity and beauty of the drama. A lot of people have complained at the short and often repeated songs. I think that the OST is brilliant because it accentuates normality; life is normal, repetitive, and quiet most of the time. Now some songs individually I think could have been written better but the soundtrack as a whole I thoroughly enjoy.
Most dramas take you out of your world to take you into theirs and that's what makes it enjoyable and fun; but this leaves a dissatisfaction when you know that it's not real and it would never happen in your life. This drama and SITR takes you out of your world and into a world that could be your neighbor's or your friend's or maybe even back into your own world. I might not have that same 'high' of riding the lows and highs of most kdramas but I am confident that I will have left this show thinking that it seemed real and that it could happen somewhere in the real world even in mine. That's what makes this show exciting and fresh.
