So campy but so fun
I legit laughed out loud so many times watching this. It's a really hilarious drama with great acting. It's very campy but very fun and very re-watchable. The romance was surprisingly cute! Zhao Lusi continues to be amazing in everything she's in. I did feel that the second half of the show lost a bit of the magic though because of the plot stuff... and the whole 'it was all just a dream' gimmick left me kind of disappointed. I also wish we saw a bit more of what their modern day ending was like.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
How good this drama is?
If you are new to fantasy dramas then this drama is the best choice for you. It has Action, Adventure, Mystery, Love, Romance, Comedy, Suspense.What it doesn't has????First time I rejected this one because I didn't know how to watch this type of dramas but but but this one changed my view completely.
If you are doubting about this drama, let me say you, you should try to watch this drama. Even if you reject it today you will again come to see tomorrow... Love you

This drama first caught my attention with the shorter number of episodes than most
c-dramas have and second with the plot as I
was curious about the city where women
were superior to men in terms of social
standing. But I liked how in the end it was
addressed that both the cities had its flaws
when it came to gender norms.
The costumes in this drama were different
from the ones I've seen in other historicals
and so beautiful! I really liked all the collars
of the dresses and the various layers and
colours of these outfits. Qianqian looked so
gorgeous in her red dress and Chuchu was
awesome in her warrior clothing (I'm still
wishing for an redemption arc for her š),
Han Shuo looked a bit bland for my tastes
but he was very handsome in the modern
setting at least.
I loved the main leads's relationship
especially their cute bickering scenes at the
beginning but somewhere around the latter
half they were treating each other badly with
some forced kisses taking place but at the
end everything was good again. I honestly
don't think that the drama needs a second
season but if it ever comes out, I'll watch it. I
just hope that they will keep the historical
settings .
My final rating for this c-drama is 8.5/10.

Unique, funny, romantic: all in one!
turns out third time IS a charm! just finished this :)pros:
- SIZZLING chemistry between the leads: nothing more expected from the king and queen of creating chemistry (srsly, ZLS and DYX looks good with each other and everyone they work with)!
- great acting: wowow the whole cast was great at their roles! no awkward acting at all :) LS is so cute and DYXās cute gaze <3
- unique storyline: i tend to immensely dislike isekai/time-travel/āit was all just a dreamā dramas (hence it took me so many tries to get into this) because it sucks when they return to the real world and itās just like.... whatās the point of the drama, but this is an exception! riveting plot with a good balance of comedy and angst :) also the feminist element of the plot is really refreshing.
- intense romance: loved the main leadsā romance. ML was so whipped by FL, so cute! both were very loyal to one another by the end. not very many kisses and the ones we did get werenāt very āpassionateā though :( but i think the other interactions made up for it a little :D
- the costumes were lovely. could tell the budget wasnāt that high but i think they did a good job with what they had.
- the script writing was so good! funny, snappy and not too convoluted. ML had killer romantic lines and FL had such funny modern day lines too!
cons:
- a bit draggy in the middle: FL took her time to finally accept she had fallen for ML and it got annoying so i skipped a few bits in the middle. admittedly, while i did love the couple in the end, it took me a while to get into the romance bc of how dismissive the FL was towards ML for so long.
- ML forcing himself on the FL in the latter half was not it. it was so OOC for him, even in context he was doing it in.
- FL was a bit brainless at times. i understand she was trying to get out of the script and all, but like she should have given up way earlier lol
- i get the ending but also, we need an explanation. it wasnāt terrible but it was a tad rushed. why did they travel together? how did they have the same dream? is the world the FL is in also a script? they wrapped up the romance well but they left so many plot questions unanswered.
overall, 9.5/10. this was such an enjoyable watch and i so recommend this for both romance and comedy :) i am a bit worried though bc i donāt think this needs a second season, more of a special episode or smth? iāll put why in a spoiler below lol

This drama has it all!
This drama was simply perfect. I signed up at MyDramaList just to be able to write this review. I've watched loads of k-dramas and quite a few c-dramas, and this one simply had it all:Good romance (good chemistry, cute scenes)
Action and plot twists (not one episode was boring)

Comedy (the drama made me laugh out loud many times)

This one really is a gem! I applaud the writers for making every single episode exciting. This drama became one of my favourites instantly. Even if you're not a big fan of period pieces (like me), this remains a must watch!

Sangat lucu
Ini adalah drama romance terlucu yang saya tonton. hubungan antara main lead dengan female lead sangat baik. Ding yuxi memliki ketampanan yang unik. Saya awalnya takut ini akan menjadi drama dengan romansa yang berlebihan, namun ternyata tidak. kisahnya benar benar lucu dan tidak berlebihan benar benar natural.Music opening OST sangat baik, sangat enak didengar terima kasih

Review for Zhao Lusi (ā¤ Ļ ā¤)
I come to write this review for Zhao Lusi. She is my faviourite actress ever. Her acting skill or maybe her own personality is so natural, engaging , interesting and makes me laugh. This drama is for her and she also achieves this drama!I've watched this drama nearly 10 times. Everytime when I'm not happy or down in life, I open this drama as a background music at home. Then I feel at ease. Everything is not a big deal in life. We can smile , laugh and feel love.
When I'm writing this review, I'm also watching her new drama on airing "Who Rules The World". Her feeling is totally different in that drama which is amazing . I read the novel many years ago and read it again recently. She is exactly the female character stepping from the novel. When I've heard this drama will be on airing on Netflix, I feel so excited for her. She's only 23 years old and her career is developing so quickly in recent two years. Which means she can get more rescources and produce more excellent dramas! Congratulations!
Overall, it's a very good, relaxed and funny drama. This setting of female and male is unique in Chinese Ancient Dramas. Very Interesting and thought-provoking. Thanks to the writer wrote a good script! Love Happy Ending!
ps. I love the all the clothes of Chen Qianqian. They are all so beautiful and perfect for Zhao lusi! I think they are also suited in modern times. (*^ā½^*)
