Not the best or the worst E-Sports drama
7/30/2021After watching "Love O2O", "Gank Your Heart", "Cross Fire" and "Go Go Squid 1", this is my 5th e-sports drama. "Cross Fire" is my favorite out of the 5 shows. I have "The King's Avatar" and "Go Go Squid 2" on my Watchlist. I would rank this drama in the middle of the group. This drama has a stronger focus in the romance department than actual competitive gaming. It also spends a lot of time on the e-sports fan base/social media/online forums.
Many commented on the romance between the leads. And it is true that Xu Kai (ML) is just as handsome as everyone says. I am a fan of him after watching him in "Arsenal Military Academy" and am looking forward to watching him in "Ancient Love Poetry". He plays a very different role here, and he did a great job. I know this is an adaptation of the book and I read that his "horny" character was toned down in this show. However, I still felt that it is a little out-of-character for this cool, calm and rational Captain to suddenly become this lovable, clingy and somewhat cheesy boyfriend. I just find his Jekyll/Hyde personality a little uncharacteristic. But if the novel is like this, I guess it's really no fault of the drama and scriptwriter. This is my first time watching our female lead. I think she did an OK job, as I do find some of her facial expressions a little wooden. I don't find the chemistry to be especially strong between our leads, except for ML's loving gazes. Chemistry is OK, but not amazing. I enjoyed watching their slow-burn romance before they got together, than when they are together (it got somewhat cringey). Luckily, their kiss scenes (surprisingly there are quite a few) are believable and nice, and not the fish-kissing in "Love O2O". The secondary romance seems a little more realistic, we don't really see their romance much, compared to secondary romances in other rom-coms.
A common theme in e-sports dramas is the amazing friendship and camaraderie between team members and rivals. It's not an exception here. You will grow to love all the team members, even those from rival teams. They provide comic relief and for the most part, things didn't get too negative or dramatic. The friendship between FL and2FL is also great to see. I still don't understand why 2FL is so rich. We have somewhat supportive family members for most members and there isn't anyone too annoying in the show.
Gaming graphics are amazing in this show. I am not sure if these are original animation from the actual League of Legends games, or specially created for the show. But it's not doubt that the graphics and the music are amazing. It's different from the actual actor being in the games such as "Cross Fire" or the coding in "Go Go Squid". For a non-gamer, I do find it a little difficult to follow the gaming scenes.
I do have a minor criticism and wished the scriptwriter has added. Since FL is the first female pro gamer, I wish they would have followed her journey to encourage other fellow female gamers. I would love for her to be a role model. Unfortunately, for most of the drama, the show focuses a lot of gender bias, putting her down through online comments and social media. I know that's an important part of her journey as well, but I wish the show has cut down on some of the social media stuff, but empower her to do more for the industry.

Light-hearted drama that brings smile on your face.
Who doesn't want to watch a light hearted drama after working on assignments for whole day. Yes this is the one your looking for if you are stressed or need something to improve your mood.Things I want to address
1. Female lead is mature and smart. Solves her problem without being a crybaby.
2. Male lead looks cold in beginning but actually is a warm hearted person.
3. Chemistry between the leads is appreciable. No unnecessary scenes.
4. Second lead couple are both capable and their story is harmonious.
5. Their whole team ( cat, k, fatty, manager, Cheng's brother and former member) along with main leads have beautiful bond in the story.
6. No antagonist who plot against main leads, so no stress.
7. Gaming scenes are shown very well in a way you don't get bored.
Conclusion: There are many e-sports dramas that try to include romance and comedy in their genre. But I think Falling into your smile did justice for e-sports rom-com.

A must watch c-drama this 2021!
I've really fallen in love with the smile of Lu SiCheng (Xu Kai) in this drama ? I always wait for each episode to be updated and ever since at the very beginning it never failed to satisfy me, especially to the characters that they're playing and also to the actors and actresses. At first my intention is to watch it because I am a fan of both Xu Kai and Cheng Xiao but I got really obsessed and keep on watching it like 3x in a row now! I hope there will be a season 2 of this drama or they will collab again in another drama. Please! Please! Please! Don't waste the chemistry of this two! ❤️?❤️Tong Yao ❤️ Lu SiCheng x Smiling ❤️ Chessman!

Real Gamers don't fit a stereotype
I absolutely loved this series because it didn't stereotype the gamers, the female gamer was both girlie but a badass. They made sure to showcase her strengths but also showed her integrating into the team where they both learned from her and taught her new tricks. Each of the gamers were unique, with different strengths and they made sure to show that none of them were the "unstoppable, god gamer". They each had to rely on each other.I thought it was soo good to see the main male lead be the one who had the "emotional" break that lead to the group surrounding him to show support. They also showed a strong female who was the one who was rich and she stood up for her love.
Each storyline of the supporting characters were cute and I felt like each one contributed to the story, instead of just being filler.

Love this Series! Can easily Replay Constantly!
Lead, supporting actors, production and graphics team...VERY GOOD!!! I enjoy this series from beginning to end. There are no episodes or scenes that feel unnecessary. The natural chemistry with the cast throughout really feels like you were almost viewing reality TV BTS moments and not plain acting. You can see the tension and gradual growth of the romance budding with the two leads which is even more enjoyable because it does not feel scripted. The funny moments between lead and supporting actors seemed off script, but just right. Love the graphics and OST! Seriously, I hesitated for a while before adding for review. However, I am very glad that I did. It has been a while since I have seen a drama that I don't mind rewatching multiple times. WELL DONE!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
At first, I only started watching it because of the ML (I'd seen him before in Arsenal Military Academy and liked him), and I didn't really expect to like it, because I think watching video games is boring and it was really long compared to all the other dramas I've seen, but I was pleasantly surprised! Some things I liked about it:
-The acting was really good, and the reactions of the team members were just amazing!
-There was some really good background instrumental music that I liked.
-There was a lot of good comedy, and the singing parts were hilarious!
-The romance was cute and really just worked well for this drama
-Lu Yue was an amazing character that I am sure all of you will love
Some not so great things:
-For people who don't understand the game that they play it could be a little strange...I did watch this not understanding how it worked, and it was ok, but some people might not like that
-There were a few gaming scenes they could have cut down a lot...so it doesn't get as boring for people who don't really like that sort of thing
Overall it was a great drama and I really enjoyed it!

Heartwarming and a bunch of flower boys
Honestly, I gave it a try to watch this drama because of Chengxiao but got surprised because of the whole male cast, lmao. If you are looking for a drama that will spoil your eyes because of its cast, then this drama is super recommended.Actually, I just started watching C-drama and romance drama isn't my thing, so I didn't have any expectations. I thought the drama would be filled with romance like the previous c-dramas that I've watched, but no? And it turned out to be "my cup of tea dramas".
I really love how they sent every message in this drama. They talked about gender equality, where some people underestimate women for things that they thought only men would understand.
It also talked about dreams. Those players want to chase their dreams despite the fact that they didn't get support and were opposed by their family. The only thing that they can do is prove that they didn't choose the wrong path.
I like how they pointed out fans' behavior. Some fans will throw hate to someone, even think that the support that they have given is enough to interfere in their idol's private life. Also, how people use mental health as an excuse because of her wrongdoing. That's a picture which also happened in real life.
Romance, dream, family, friendship, trust, even relationship between idols and fans, you can find it in this drama.
The matter is in me. I didn't understand the game, so I couldn't be excited T-T but it's still fun to watch. Fortunately, after 26 episodes, I could finally understand the game.

Spoilers Alert!!!After I finished watching this drama, I felt so sad and happy at the same time. Watching the glittering eyes of Tong Yao (Cheng Xiao) and Lu Si Cheng (Xu Kai) I started to flutter in the ending. Cheng Xiao had managed to keep up the the sweet and strong nature of Tong Yao. While Xu Kai has also done well portraying the cold, strict and handsome Lu Si Cheng. The chemistry between this two opposite in nature people was amazing. I was charmed by seeing their chemistry. Just hoping that they will soon release the poster of Falling Into Your Smile S2 with the same cast. Cross-fingers ?

Why you should watch Falling Into Your Smile
Falling Into Your Smile was the first c-drama I ever watched and I fell in love with it the moment I started watching it. Since it was my first drama I kept wondering whether I would like it or not but Falling Into Your Smile exceeded my expectations and I will never regret watching it. It is an e-sports drama so a lot of the drama is about the game and the gamers. I never knew that there was such a thing as e-sports before and I have never been into gaming but I still found the drama very interesting even though I knew nothing about e-sports at all. They explain about the game quite a bit so you don't feel completely lost. The director shows very well how a pro-gamers life is and the different problems and criticism that they go through and receive. The drama gives a great message about how gamers are not computer addicts like many people think, you can see how passionate they are about their career, and my respect for pro-gamers has grown through watching Falling Into Your Smile. The friendship and the relations between the groups and team members were shown very well and they also showed how parents are not supportive of their kids becoming gamers and the story just felt very realistic. The story wasn't dragged on and was fun to watch.Every actor did a great job with their acting and they showed the emotions of their characters in such a good and natural way. I'm still wondering how the director found so many handsome and talented people to act in his drama. Everyone was just so handsome, even the only two female leads were so beautiful and they all were just amazing at acting. Everyone did great with the acting and I have nothing to complain about.
Falling Into Your Smile was written in a way where you can never get tired of the story. I personally have seen this drama multiple times and I still find it equally fun and entertaining to watch every time. Falling Into Your Smile is a great drama to watch if you want something that is not too long but is still entertaining with some comedy, friendship and romance. This is a drama I would recommend if you are new to c-dramas and you want something that can give you an idea of what c-dramas are like. This was my first c-drama and after watching it I just got obsessed with c-dramas ever since and i think others will also be if they watch it, this drama is definitely worth the high rating. Both people who like gaming and those who know little to nothing or don't like gaming will equally enjoy this drama.

Simple concept, absolutely beautiful execution
Falling Into Your Smile is a cute, simplistic but extremely well made romcom. It is a treat to watch, especially for those sweet, aww-worthy moments. The story is very well-balanced between romance and gaming. Although there are quite a few e-sports dramas now, having a female gamer gives it a fresh angle and the prejudice and struggles Tong Yao goes through sound very true-to-life, especially hearing about Chine's netizen culture. The romance moments are so sweet. There are quite a few blink-and-you-might-miss-it-moments and flirty verbal moments that I think are much cuter than the obvious staring into each others eyes for 5 minutes while the music plays scenes.
I liked our leads well enough. I appreciated how importance is placed on Tong Yao skills as e-gamer and dedication. The actress is really good at playing cute, which I've found through extensive drama watching is not as easy as it looks. I really liked all other the characters as well, whose interactions were very fun to watch. It's nice how enough development is given to the numerous side characters so it is possible to find personal favorites and they are not all clones. I like how a lot is put on the teamwork aspect and it not just one person carrying the team. I also liked how the e-sports community felt like...well, a nice, tight-knit community. Members were friends across teams, people supported one another, competitions were fair and everyone vaguely knew or knew of each other. It kind of reminds me when people 'reminisce' about previous Kpop eras when groups collaborated more often, even across different companies, and fandoms weren't so crazy (side note: this is per numerous online comments, I cannot say how accurate it is on then vs now).
The production was pretty good, but at times felt overproduced. The acting was very good but it sometimes felt like there was so much skin filtering or smoothening or something that facial expressions looked stiff. The worse was then people would comment on how someone's face would look so red or with dark circles and all you see is this perfectly made-up and glamourized look. Like, if you are going to have a bunch of people comment on how someone is embarrassed and beet-red, at least make her look a little flushed or something.
Overall, this is a simple and sweet romcom that stays in romcom territory. I was debating between an 8 vs 8.5 since it's not a grand masterpiece but ended up choosing 8.5 because it achieves what it tries to do. This is a great watch when you in the mood for something light and fluffy but still well made or something to relax to after a long day.
