Both feature a ghost mother leaving a child and husband behind. Also, in both media the husband becomes depressed/suicidal due to the incident of losing their wife. Both have the ghost only visible to a select character.

It's the story of a mother who died and begins a 49-day long project of reincarnation, and a husband who has barely begun to live a new life after overcoming the pain of losing his wife. Jo Kang Hwa is a skilled thoracic surgeon. After losing his wife four years ago, he had been working as a single father until he got married again two years ago. While he seems like a caring person, he does not offer a hand nor intervene when needed.

Overall, they are pretty different however Yuri (Hi Bye, Mama!) and Chu Ying (Hikaru no Go) are both ghosts who are unable to leave the mortal world and move on to the afterlife because of their unresolved yearnings.

They both have mothers trying to handle the balance between supporting their children and existing happily. Hi Bye, Mama has more dark and serious themes whilst Doctor Cha is slightly more comedy focused.

Both dramas are similar in the aspect of ghost seeing, supernatural elements and ghosts staying back instead of crossing over to protect their child. Even after death the main leads who are dead and now ghosts stay back on earth and protect their daughter from harm and resolve their regret.
The difference is in "Hi Bye, Mama !" the female main lead a.k.a mom ghost gets the opportunity to become human for 49 days and accompany her daughter whereas in "Who are you?" the dad ghost can possess the male main lead and help his daughter from behind the scenes without telling her that he is the ghost of dead dad who possessed the male main lead.

Both are heartwarming, funny, family dramas with a strong mother-daughter relationship. They show what it means to be a mother as well as the sacrifices that mothers make for their children.

Many scenes from Hello, Me! reminded me a lot of Hi Bye, Mama!, especially because the two shows depict a supernatural event that deeply affects the lives of a variety of people. What's more, both of them deal with parting.

"Hi bye, mama" is about a loss, a mother losing her child. Not for the fact that she can't touch, or she can't be with her child, but for the fact that for your child, you are not her mother anymore. The fact that you gave birth to her, doesn't change the fact of your absence in your child's life, and "Lie after lie" portrays exactly that. That your absence, even if it's not your fault, changes evrything.
