ME ENCANTÓ

AMAZING.
This was my second-ever kdrama, right after CLOY so this masterpiece holds a special place in my heart. It's still one of my favorite dramas of all time. This drama is different and unique and that's part of the appeal, it's kinda dark and yet not, it's realistic with a touch of fantasy ambiance at the same time. The highlight of the show is without a doubt ML's brother Moon Sang Tae, who portrayed his autistic character astonishingly well. I've found in most dramas featuring autistic characters the show can be overrated simply because people appreciate an autistic lead, while the show itself may not offer much else - that's not at all the case here, the high rating is without a doubt deserved. I've never been so moved by a character, and that character's relationship with his brother, than I have in this drama. Watch it for that reason alone. The one fault I did have with this show was for me as a psychology major, the whole "redeemable psychopath" thing got on my nerves a bit. In reality someone with FL's psychopathy traits would not possess any remorse or desire to change, period. Psychopathy cannot be treated, and I wish they'd been a little more careful with this. I did think it was a creative touch how they tried to relate her lack of ability to read people to Moon Sang Tae's autism (although also very inaccurate).
Even with those faults my rating wasn't affected because the show is otherwise so moving and well done. It's without a doubt a must-watch, just go into it with an open mind and try to see past the FL.

Just made my days happier ! :)
This was so well done!! The story is quite unique and I like that it's realistic to a point. I felt there was some repetition somewhere in the middle of the story when they kept going back and forth but I seriously enjoyed it overall. The cast is awesome, The acting is incredibly well done. The emotions were perfectly conveyed. I laughed, cried, got excited and had my heart flutter in just one episode multiple times,
All in all, this drama made my days better. Thank you everyone ! Will keep loving and supporting you ! :)

10 stars because trauma
Like all the others I fall in love with, I ask again, why did I put off watching this. All the ones I love sit in my watchlist for quite some time before I actually watch them. But then I have way too many on my watch list but man. LOVED the mental health representation. This one was so relatable in many aspects. The villain of the story still couldn't get past my ADHD character analysis brain, so I called it pretty early on. There was a couple times I said "oh didn't see that coming." so I give them props for that.Cried and if you have read my one other review then you will know that's a favorite of mine so if you too enjoy crying, and you too have trauma, definitely worth the watch.

Female characters ruin a good show >_>
I had to stop watching this show because the female lead(s) were too insufferable and desperate. The way how they kept thirsting over the male lead was too cringeworthy. >_< At some points it even comes across as sexual harassment, the guy clearly felt uncomfortable. I was hoping for the girls to drop this act, but it just continued. It is really a shame, because the drama is funny, creative, and gives a unique insight into trauma, psychological issues and mental health hospitals. For those reasons, I kept watching until episode 5. But around the end of ep 5, I got too embarrassed for the secondary female character and had to drop it haha...
It is hard for me to rate this drama, because I think I am biased towards a certain portrayal of female and male characters, and besides the main characters, this drama is rather good. Especially if the two main female characters were written slightly differently, I probably would have loved it. If you like watching women throwing themselves at a guy and even having a b*tch fight and pulling each other's hair over him, then this drama is probably fine for you... I simply lost my patience with it ^^'
A special shoutout to Oh Jung Se, his portrayal of an autistic person was superb and very convincing, really the highlight of the show.

The story itself is very fresh. Mental health could be one of the most difficult And challenging topics i guess to be shown in full length drama, but i can tell this drama will make a huge success. I can tell the cliche and the trauma of the leads already but they will certainly give justice to this in the end.
I have never wished for a drama to just reveal the whole 16 episodes already in one day but i certainly did on this one.

goddamn
god fucking damn they're so cute. really good casting. good dynamic between the leads, AND SEO YE JI IS VERY FUNNY! She fits the role perfectly. so far so good since they're not rushing the leads to get together. i just hope they continue to raise awareness towards mental illnesses, since kdramas (esp this one since it's available worldwide on netflix) tend to have a very large audience. cant wait for future episodes! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaVond je deze recentie nuttig?

Toxic AF
Wanted to drop it after 1st ep but thought maybe I could stay on because of Kim Chang Wan but could. Not. Do. It. Dropped it 5 mins into ep3.The male actor, Kim Soo Hyun, seems to be typecast into leads that are paired with toxic, prima donna women. First intro'd to him in My Love from the Star, which is on my treadmill playlist (films with moving images to keep my mind off the exercise time but with shallow plots that won't require any emotional commitment or interest on my part), then the short cameo at the end of Hotel del Luna, then now. His work in Hotel del Luna was good because it was short. His work in It's Ok Not To Be Okay... it's just not okay.
Female protagonist exhibits psychopathic tendencies since young age and is socially maladjusted yet everyone pampers to her every need because she's dressed up like a porcelain geisha doll replete with ridiculous high heels, f#ckable hyper short-skirted dresses, an emo attitude and a goth lean in look and makeup. Talking about the male protag's brother having erogenous zones in his hair triggered when the brother, who is clearly autistic, had a physical altercation during her book signing was inappropriate AF. The male protag just accepts her behaviour because why? He's scripted to? Because she's hitting onto him and she's flawlessly beautiful? Right.
Flip the genders around and see if her behaviours are ok. The way she tracks his info and then tracks him down. Stalking. The way she talks about wanting him like cars and pretty things. Objectification. The way she keeps talking about erogenous zones and bringing up the topic of sex work with him. Inappropriate talk. If it were a guy who did all this to a female protagonist the story would not be romantic at all. Why should we believe it's ok for a woman to do any of those to a man? Is it romantic? Not to this viewer. I prefer my romances healthy, functional and without red flags.
Was looking for a quirky romance. Since this was neither quirky or romantic and was just plain WTF, dropped it like the radioactive sludge that it was. UGH. Does not even make my treadmill playlist. Would not recommend.

felt like it’s mocking me
The casting of Sangtae was poor.Sangtae is supposed to be an Autistic character, but the actor who portray him is not. And as an autistic person, I didn’t like that…
as for autistic representation, its fine. ive seen way worse, but that doesnt change the fact that the actor is doing reverse masking.
The actor is ‘acting’ autistic, or reverse mansking, he can stop being autistic wheneber he wants, while I can’t. I live with struggling social cues, communicating my feelings, masking, getting tired easily of social interactions and trying my hardest to fit in, but the he doesnt have to deal with that doesn’t.
He ‘acts’ autistic and gets priced for a good performance, but I am autistic and gets bullied for it.

Is it really okay not to be okay?
From the beginning to the very end, I had the above question in my mind because there was not a story at all. There were some stories that I started but I did not finish watching I really have a regret now because I did not do that to this one. When we think about the title of the drama it really looks like it is regarding the mental disabilities and mental disabled people but even in the promotional poster, I really can't find the story and the title in it. Actually, it is an exception from the story. I really wanted to give a positive comment but according to my conscience I cannot lie. And also, I cannot find the basement of the story anywhere. Antisocial writer may be a good person to start a story with, but I can't see a success when making a story around her. The producers trying their best to give some horror and thrill sometimes, but I could not feel any of that. And also, actors and actresses have tried their best to perform the story and give the lives to the characters who were in the story. but I cannot say that is excellent because there were a lot of time that they were unable to add some color to the story and the story was too dark. There were scenes that the writer included in the story as thriller scenes but when we are watching the drama, they were useless, and they could not add any color to the whole drama, and they were out of the story line. When we take main and old incident which the whole story has based on that was really not strong enough to build a story. Actually, there was not any need for the story, but they really added something like artificial sweetener to make a story, but I really don't see the actual need or value of the story. I must say that this is only for sweet lovers who can't tolerate something other than romance and comedy. I really put a lot of effort to finish watching the story and I excepted something astonishing that whole time from beginning to the very end, but I did not see something like that. Therefore, I have a final question "Do you really think this kind of story make as a drama; is it really okay even though it is not okay?"Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

I tried y'all, I really did.
A running gag in my Korean class is how I am an avid reader of romance novels, but I am pretty much averse to Romantic K-Dramas. Crash Landing On You so far is the first and only one that I have loved. I would count Mystic Pop-Up but that's more of a Fantasy Family drama. I'll try to be brief, but this was a new record for me, I got 2.5 episodes in before I permanently clocked out for 3 reasons.1. Ko Moon Young tap danced on every last nerve I had.
Pretty much every romantic K-drama I have bailed on has MLs who behaved similarly or worse. This trope of love interests being cruel until they fall in love/sleep with a virgin (looking at you After/Kissing Booth) is TIRED. No, you don't need love you to save you, you need to leave us the hell alone so we can find something healthy and won't run up our blood pressure up. Plus, I know they tried to work in the aspect of KMY having severe mental health issues as the reason, but that doesn't seem good enough an explanation considering the harm done. At no point in the episodes I watched did I think, "Hmm, she seems really seems ready and deserving of love.
2. Most interesting storyline wasn't the main one.
I was more into the Moon Brothers' story because it seemed more realistic in it's depictions of being a caretaker to an intellectually disabled sibling, autism (for Korean standards) and the fine line between support and codependency. Would have loved to watch it unfold, but Miss Author got in the way.
3. Kim Soo Hyun's sexiness couldn't save me.
Okay, it was at this point that I was SHOOK. Kim Soo Hyun could literally read me obituaries and I'd think it was the sexiest thing ever done. I sat through ALL TWO HOURS of REAL yet, couldn't make it through 2.5 episodes of this show. Seeing him in this show? It just didn't connect for me like it usually does.
