Top Tier Entertainment - Heavy dose of Comedy and Romance in the Backdrop of Palatial Politics
I am walking out of this drama as a devoted fan of Shin Hae Sun. I cannot imagine anyone playing this role better than her, she does absolute justice and more to the character. She is great a depressed queen to be and even better as a man trapped in Joseon kingdom. Kim Jung Hyun was wonderful as well, his comic timing was not a surprise to me given his previous roles. Seol In-Ah is gorgeous. The side characters are memorable and endearing who lend beautiful balance to the ensemble.I have religiously avoided historical dramas and the classic body switch trope because they tend to be very predictable BUT Mr. Queen brought its A game and I am a convert. Agreeably, it takes a couple of episodes to get into the drama but once you are there, it just continues to grow better with every episode. The story is presented in a manner where the viewer is bound to be engrossed in the plotline. It is generously sprinkled with comedy, romance, action and palace politics. The lead pair had BRILLIANT chemistry.
The drama has high production value with large scale and nothing less can be expected from a historical drama of this stature. The OST is beautiful and melodious, it just falls in place with the situations and enhances the scenery.
Mr. Queen is jam packed with amazing performances and enticing star cast with a fascinating story line and has a high re watch value. It cannot and should not be missed.

High Bar for Story Telling and Direction
I was so skeptical to start this show for so long. The name seemed stupid and body swapping has always been dumb in my mind. Furthermore, the male lead seemed like a incompetent person doing illegal stuff in modern times so I refused to give the show more than 10 minutes of my time. But it really changed my perspective slowly and steadily.The depth of the show is hidden in its meanings. As a man it is hard to empathize with women often due to their need for lack of real world responsibility such as work and taking on risks that man take on a regular basis; however, as this time a man was on a woman's shoes it seemed different. With time the guy felt comfortable in her body and situation and started to take charge in situations even while acting as a man. And then I found out that actually a woman is not really different than us at least not too much. We have the same concerns and we would act kind of in the same manners.
As the guy merged with the queen as the episodes passed it seemed natural and when the leads fell in love it did not seem gay at all. This has to be one of the triumphs of K-drama in recent years. I can see the concept failing spectacularly in the hands of most directors. I have to praise the quality of the story telling and the depths of most characters in such a short drama. I often complain on how redundant most C-drama has become with filler episodes with nothing happening in between. This show really pulled its weight and will be a high bar for story telling and direction.

Never felt so heart broken from any kdramas
i really liked it i started watching kdrama in the start of 2023 or something this was one of my favorites i still like it ive rewatched it 6-7 times whenever you rewatch it i notice small this i didnt the first time i watched it like what if she didnt let go of her cousins hand and stuff it pains my heart whenever i watch it. it never beats the feeling the first time i watched it i recommend this to people who want to get into kdrama. sometimes i want to reset my memories and rewatch it 😓i would if i couldVond je deze recentie nuttig?

Muito bom!
Comecei a assistir Mr. Queen durante o lançamento dos episódios mas parei porque a comédia dos primeiros episódios foi demais pra mim na época. Porém, resolvi retornar e dar uma nova chance dois anos depois e, sem sombra de dúvidas, foi a escolha correta.Os primeiros episódios começam com uma comédia bem forte durante quase toda a duração deles e se você não curte muito assim como eu, aconselho a dar uma chance, vá um pouco além e tenho certeza de que vai se surpreender.
Com o passar dos episódios a comédia fica mais secundária e série se torna mais séria e envolvente.
Consegui odiar alguns personagens durante a série toda e terminar gostando deles ou chorando por eles, é realmente impressionante.
Não fiquei decepcionada em relação à comédia, nem ao drama e nem ao romance, que foi extremamente bem construído, além disso a química do casal é incrível.

Se fosse para reclamar de algo seria apenas do último episódio, pois apesar do Rei ter gostado da Rainha original antes, ao meu ver ele de fato amou o cozinheiro que entrou dentro do corpo dela, assim como o cozinheiro o amou.
É triste ver o cozinheiro sozinho no final lembrando de tudo e sem ter conseguido se despedir, além da cena do Rei falando que sentiu que "perdeu algo" enquanto olha para o dicionário.

Have to watch this funny history drama even when you don't like history drama
I liked everything about this series and I am so sad that it is over and at the same time it has accompanied me in everyday life in a lively way.The main characters play so great and have a good chemistry. The secondary characters are so endearing and funny. The poients and the humor are consistent and yet there is also something to cry and cheer about.
I still have the soundtrack in my head.
The only downer for me was the ending with the main female character who had suddenly become so weak. I felt cheated for King Cheol Jong. The special comforted me a bit, but I'm not really satisfied with it.

Gente, que dorama histórico maravilhoso! Já entrou pra minha lista de favoritos. Eu nunca ri tanto com um dorama quanto com esse, ele é muito engraçado e tem umas cenas muito sem noção. Mas também o dorama não tem só comédia, tem um romance perfeito, ação e muitas intrigas dentro do palácio e que envolvem política.
Foi muito bem feito, e, apesar de o plot ser clichê (troca de corpos), a história foi bem trabalhada e fugiu do óbvio. Fora isso, a atuação de todo o elenco é excelente, os personagens foram muito bem interpretados. E eu tenho que falar da Shin Hye Sun, ela dá um show de atuação, esse foi o trabalho dela que eu mais gostei, ela atua tão bem que realmente parece ser um homem, de longe essa foi uma das melhores protas que eu conheci, por ser muito divertida, louquinha e dona de si.
Por último, eu amei esse casal, eles são perfeitos juntos, têm muita química e são muito fofos, eles demonstram perfeitamente o amor que um sente pelo outro.

Muy buena dinámica de la historia, todos los capítulos son excepcionales. La actuación de los personajes principales es maravillosa sobretodo el de la protagonista principal. Lo único es que esperaba mas de la musica , pero igual estuvieron buenas la canciones, aunque no para escucharlas siempre como lista de musica. Pero en general una historia redondita y con mucha risa. Sin duda uno se cautiva del primer episodio. Divertente e ben fatto
Questo è uno dei pochi drama che sarebnbe da dieci pieno come punteggio, se non fosse per la prima parte del primo episodio e per il final, ma resta comunque molto bello sia come trama che come personaggi. Alto livello di produzione, bravissimo cast e una storia che viaggia alla giusta velocità, con la giusta ironia e alternanaza di intrigo, risate, e andre dramma. Funziona tutto bene, anche graziea lla protagonista che da sola regge buona parte del drama, riuscendo credibile come uomo nel corpo di donna. So che c'è chi non l'ha trovato divertente, ma personalmente ho riso tanto e anche sorriso. Però è più vicino probabilmente a una comità occidentale, meno farsesca della classica comicità dei drama asiatici, che a noi occidentalii sembra troppo. Ho visto questo drama dopo Kingdom e insieme a quello per ora questi sono gli unici draman storici oreani che ho veramente apprezzato. Con altri fatico, ma questo anche se lungo, il tempo è volato. Mr Queen has everything that makes a drama; you will laugh until your belly ache, you will cry, you will get angry, you will have anxiety, and there is moments of disbelieve. This all is then rounded off with a bitter sweet ending. Nothing could have been done better! We are a firm believer that the cast made this drama what it is. No one else could have done a better portrayal of the characters. The OST is perfect. It's a drama we can binge watch everyday. If you love Joseon era and comedies, you'll enjoy this drama. It's a happy ending.....
Well, the story the acting ,the comedy everything is perfect about this drama,,I had such a great time watching it ....it is so good to see that shin hye sun finally getting a character that was full of potty n weak....her acting was so great she stole the show ....don't get me wrong Kim hyug Jun was also great his way of handling his queen n romance everything was so perfect ...I really really enjoyed this drama....I don't write many reviews but this definitely deserves one....this show is also very wholesome in some aspects....it has enough suspense to make u watch the next episode...n also enough comedy so that things don't get too serious ....one of the best series I have enjoyed watching so far....Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

It's been awhile since I've laughed this hard!
I can't remember the last time I've laughed this hard watching a kdrama. And I have Shin Hye Sun to thank for that!I'm just going to have to gush about her a bit as I just loved her exuberant and hilarious portrayal as Jang Bong-hwan trapped in the body of Queen Cheorin. She nailed this role. Not only was she funny, but she did it in a way that didn't feel like overkill. Every scene that she was in was just so much fun! She had great chemistry with everyone and I think she is one of the reasons why this drama was ranked 7th highest in cable viewership ratings.
Granted the director, writing, and editing also contributed to the success of this comedy. What was shocking to me was that the jokes actually surprised me. The editing was done well to accentuate the comedy, highlight the punchline. I've been stuck in such a kdrama rut because I've just watched too many and now everything is boring because it's too predictable, too much of the same story. This drama was such a nice REFRESHING change. There were so many memorable scenes from the dance scene in the rain to the the hot and heavy make out scene to the elaborate PDA show to squash rumors that still put a stupid grin on my face when I think about it.
The show has it's flaws, but because I viewed this more like a borderline screwball comedy with some drama mixed, I really didn't care about the historical inaccuracies, nonsensical situations, or the fact that we never get an answer as to why Jang Bong Hwan was teleported into the Queen's body (although it would have made the drama better if they could have tied up that loose end). I'm very curious to watch the original Chinese drama, but the fact that it's 35 eps has deterred me a bit.

The best time travel comedy there is..
What keeps a fictional story alive till the very end is the plot twists! Mr queen certainly outdone that department. I didn’t expect to see that many surprise twists.None of the main actors are my favourite. I usually find it hard to watch shows where cast is not that familiar or well liked by me . But I just couldn’t stop watching cuz story was addicting. It’s the best comedy time travel drama that I have watched soo far.
The Queen and King are undoubtedly the most chaotic couple and i enjoyed all their moments together.
WHAT I LOVED MOST:
Shin hye sun blew me away with her brilliant acting. The queen’s expressions, body language, and gestures were just perfectly done.
The supporting characters like lady Choi and Royal chef were cherry on the top. I loved them. These characters will surely be remembered.
I didn’t expected a comedy show to get this politically intense but the writer surpassed my expectations in every department. The story portrayed the royal schemes well. I just couldn’t tell what will happen next and what the writer will bring in the story. There were surprise twists upon twists which I love.
