where do i start??? literally EVERYTHING about word of honor is amazing!! the casting is perfect, the sound track is so good and easy to listen to for days, and the plot is extremely entertaining, the characters have lots of depth to them and there's actually zero boring scenes! i definitely recommend this show to everyone, even if you've never watched historical dramas before i think you'll like this one. i've rewatched this show so many times even though it barely came out a few months ago but seriously i can not stress how good this show is.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
From a person who doesn't watch BL at all
I don't write reviews for any drama but for Word of Honor I had to do it because I loved this show so much. This drama made me realise how one can love someone or show their affection towards them even without kissing or getting intimate.The willingness to sacrifice, trust and mutual respect that Zhou Zi Xu and Wen Ke Xing had for each other is just beautiful.
I am not a fan of BL at all but I ended up loving this drama and characters way too much. This drama certainly paved the way for me to explore more BL genre dramas in future

yall i just finished this, and holy shit it's so good, THEY ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER PROVE ME WRONGthe last couple episodes made me cry my eyes out~
this drama is like a mix of the untamed (the bl concept) and legend of fei (one of them is poisoned/injured and the other main character tries to save them)
highly recommend for people who like wuxia dramas + bl dramas!!
i will be rewatching this in the future but as of right now i need a break from c dramas, although i am looking for more~
if yall have recommendations, my favorite genre ever is wuxia (historical) bl (bromance/boy love) chinese dramas!

One of the Romantic Shows I've Ever Seen
I absolutely love Word of Honor! It's a one-of-a-kind show with a one-of-a-kind cast. The main leads have a beautiful chemistry and work well together, you can see that evidence in the end product. I was captivated by the story, the acting, the costumes since the very first episode and every single episode maintained my interest and fascination. I love Word of Honor's underdog story, they were voted most likely to fall in late 2020 and in 2021, they quickly shot up to one of the most popular dramas currently airing. a must watch series
After a long year of crappy wuxia drama, finally a c-drama worth watching. The chemistry between the two main leads are really good. Both of the actors acting are just so natural and enjoyable to watch. Simon Gong Jun really shines in this one, never notice his acting before Word of Honor. Well actually, almost every characters played well in this drama. Very entertaining and satisfying to watch. The story is very well written. The fighting scenes are beautiful and well executed. Last but not least, no annoying stupid damsel in distressed, no unnecessary draggy filler scenes.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Mixed Feelings
The problem was it had a lot of similarities to The Untamed and Heaven Official's Blessing.Which isn't bad. It's just the fact that these types of series always end with so many unanswered questions. Also the last few episodes were really sad. I felt that they didn't get an ending. Other then that it was really good. As for whats similar you'll just have to watch the other series :] I can not express how much I thought the actors suited characters. Anyway you should just watch it. Where do we get in life without chances. Update : I'd Just like to say i keep re-watching this series although its similar i adore it. Its one of my most favorite series. I love the leads and the story. I love the undead. I just love it all.

Whoa my tears were just flowing endlessly
July 18, 2021Oh waw, what a week! I spent this whole watching Word of Honour and every night I just cried. Make sure to have some tissues because my emotions were unstable as heck. HOLY, how can someone think of such a plot. Also, damn... how did this even pass the censorship?? LIke the flirtatious moments from Wen Ke Xing was just phenomenal. Though I must say I love this series from its casts to some parts of the story. I will explain why I gave the plot a significantly lower rating than the other 3 components.
? SPOILERS DOWN BELOW and a rant ? ?
First of all, I love how they tried to lay out the story. But I must say the bits near the ending and the finale itself could have been significantly better. Like I understand that in Wuxian dramas' side characters are usually killed off. BUT THE WORD OF HONOUR just did not give me a good convincing on why Cao Wei Ning and Ah Xiang have to die. Like how is that bastard the "father" of scorpion king and scorpion king still alive. LIke that just pissed me off. Sure maybe the writers wanted us to experience pain and I just hate them for that. I feel like the author just got lazy with the writing of the end. Like I will happily accept Cao Wei Ning and Ah Xiang's death if the writers just gave us a good reason. Like WTF, when I saw that part, I just flipped out cause what is this honey??? Like the way, they killed these two was just poorly done. Maybe I am too harsh, but that's my opinion.
And WTF is the ending. Like e it's just so condescending... How can you start such a well off plot just for it to fall into that ... mess ? .... I don't even think an appropriate word can express my disappointment in the ending.
So in summary
Pilot till maybe ep 30 ish solid, 10/10
30 ish till finale solid 6/10
Would I still recommend this??
Duh of course, I really wanted to give this series a solid 10/10
But with that part, I will settle for a 9.5 instead ?

This drama is very flirty and I like it so much, its emotional rollercoaster like awhile I go I'm just laughing about this cute soulmate then later I will get angry then last the tears comes out, and this is the drama that gives you a free therapy, this gives you a lesson about finding and waiting for your soulmate and trusting your friendship. Gongjun and Zhang Zhe han are so cute when they're teasing each other like I'm giggling and kicking my feet many times!I rewatch it so many times I couldn't get over. Word Of Honor give me happiness
I don't even watch the trailer and i don't even know about priest novel even this is a BL drama, just got curious with this drama because of gong jun and zhang zhe han. I watched their past work.First, okay maybe this one like zhang zhe han other drama cold prince character. Lol i don't even imagine his expression is the sweetest thing and i dont even imagine gong jun can be this ruthless when he is ghost valley chief (i really love his evil smile ❤❤)
I'm already fall in love with wen ke xing when at the first time he met zhou xu as beggar, flirting and their bickering is so sweet. The most lovely thing is when wen ke xing call him " A xu".
But, the story near end episode a bit rushed not smooth transition i think, many plot holes. I don't satisfy with their explanation i think. Main problem is in 31-33 episode...
Overall, really good production, good scrip writing, good casting, i even love scorpion king ( i can't hate him hahaha)
CGI sometimes terrible but this is a drama not movie so i'm really understand about that.

I don't get the hype
Wuxia fighting scenes were excellent. I was rooting for the secondary couple and the interesting, dynamic, and well-acted bad guy. Everything else? Very "blah." No chemistry between ML, one of the ML isn't even likeable, story has awful pacing and politics either don't make sense or are incredibly predictable and boring. Ending has no payoff at all. The most beautiful love story between two ex assassins falling in love in the middle of the jianghu
This is a beautiful adaptation from a bl novel, you can feel the love between two male leadings without explicit words, the sights are so deepers and full of love, this is romance pure I can't breath, and all the sides stories are really interesting. Watch Word of honor, is about inconditional love, revange and fault in the middle of the jianghu.I identify with Wen Kexing, the duality of the character is so well played by Gong Jun, his performance is really amazing, it is worth seeing this magnificent performance of the character with a tragic past and who must be psycho and crazy to survive.
On the other hand, there is Zhou Zishu a character with high values, strict, but soft, played by Zhang Zhehan, who gives us a journey from an evil murderer to an unconditional partner.
Both find in the other a reason to live, they will accompany each other until death and they will show us what love is without saying a word... The sights are endless, just how you can look at your soulmate.

Best BL wuxia adaptation
As a Wuxia drama: I actually really enjoyed the story about the pugilist world itself. The main storyline circles around greed and power, and it's a storyline that makes sense. This is in part because this story is only 30 some episodes. Unlike others that stretch to 50+ episode, there isn't too many filler plots. Everything has clear cause and effect. There is a slight bit of "why now" element - but let's just assume it takes a while to plan the perfect revenge plan...Also, I personally adore stories where the line is blurred between right and wrong, good and bad. And, I *love* good bad boys. And there is no better example of such than the cute chief of the ghost valley.
As a BL adaptation: I enjoy BL as much as any other genre. But I have to tip my hat to WoH, wow. I do not understand how this got past the censors. The flirty scenes are wow. Also, if you appreciate the Chinese language, what WKX's lines are so beautiful. Kudos to the screenwriters. I think if you're fans of this genre, this is a must-watch.
The only place for improvement is the fight scenes. I think the fight scenes are too beautiful (particularly between the two leads). It doesn't give off the power (and though in part they are not so much fighting as flirting, so it kinda makes sense). In any case, I do enjoy their dance. It is definitely visually beautiful.
I understand that this is a fairly low cost production. Product placement is obvious. But other than that, I don't really notice the low cost. It is a beautiful production with amazing actors. All of them are amazing - even the side characters.
