Another best adaptation.
Though it's only 8 episodes I have watched till now, I have to say yes, it's really a pretty good adaptation of Priest's works. The story is good and the flow of drama is smooth.. And Simon Gong's acting skill totally shocked me. Specially his expressions. Even his flirting expression are on the mark. There are a lot of fun elements. The audiance will eventually laugh and get along with it. Wen Ke Xing's character is the one of the most sensitive ones. Zhang Zehan nailed his character as Zhou Zi Shu really well, like he is cold but he is not boring.I'm loving it. They are updating 1 episode per day with sub which is really satisfying though my greedy mind wants more. Hope every thing will go like this till the 36th episode.

Its great
This story although a little bit different from the novel but they need the filler so the content is the same but there is a difference. Worth to watch. Now when will Lord Seven makes an appearance???? Wuxi come and show us your face. Its full of corny lines too... hahahaha but you will only raise your eyebrow... its stay true to the novel... their sideline smile carries too much meaning ..
I have nothing more to say.. you need to watch it.. the action were made to be pretty... their banters entertaining...

Overrated
I loved The Untamed and thought I'd like Word of Honor too. So far, it has not been my cup of tea. The romance between the two ML leads feel forced and unnatural. Just because Wen Kexing is spouting poetry does not make it romantic. I'm not really sure why Wen Kexing is attracted to Zhou Zishu other than for his good looks. And the side kick, Gu Xiang is just loud and annoying. Maybe I'll give the drama another chance after watching other dramas. The CGI isn't that great. Zhou Zishu is supposed to be a master assassin, but his body/build just isn't believable. He looks too soft and delicate to be running an assassin organization.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Worth watching! Best show so far!
I'm a really picky viewer and too be honest I am amazed by this show. I started watching this not hoping much but it turn out to be really good. Although you can tell that the production budget is low, but I love that! They don't use those cheap CG and ton of filler and fake scenes everywhere like most show nowadays. The story stay faithful to the original novel but also create more plots and explain more things in detail. The acting and chemistry between the 2 leads are great.
I have to say that among all of the shows that have been adapted from novel. This one is the one I like the most, although for original novel I'd much prefer MDZS.
I haven't feel so excited to watch a drama for so long until I watch this show. FYI, I have watched all those popular shows (Ashes of love, The untamed, Jue Dai Shuang Jiao..)

Wuxia Romance
Word of Honor is one of the best BL adaptation in 2021. It has conspiracy, betrayal, revenge, acceptive, and ultimately, finding your soulmate. It's a love story of two protagonist who are willing to defend one another and die for each other.A family of 5.
Zhou Zishu (Zhang Zhehan), retired from being the leader of "The Window of Heaven" by taking extreme measure to gain his freedom for 3 years. He just wanted to be left alone and enjoyed the rest of his remaining life being a wanderer.
Wen Kexing ( Gong Jun), a leader of the Ghost Valley who just want to take revenge for things done wrong to him.
Zhang Chengling (Sun Xilun) is very naive and kind. Eventually became Zhou Zishu's disciple.
Gu Xiang (Zhou Ye) is Wen Kexing's "maid." She fell in love with Cao Weining.
Cao Weining (Ma Wen Yuan) is a very kind young man who fell in love with Gu Xiang.
In another other drama, Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing would be the villains' or the side characters of the main hero. Chengling would be the hero in such a story. Chengling go thru the growth of a typical Wuxia hero. That's why it's such a great thing to see everything thru the eyes of the "side" characters. Both Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing don't pretend to be good people. They know who they are and what they are: people who have not done a lot of good things.
They both found love and acceptive in one another. They are soulmates.....and nothing else matter.
There are so many supporter characters and they all played their parts so well.
It's not a prefect show. It does have some set back toward the ending due some editing. Maybe they ran out of money so a lot of important events happened off stage, but I could still use my imagination to fill in the gap. I wish it has 5 more episodes so we could see all the things that need to be shown to be a perfect show. Still, I'm very happy with the ending.
At the end of the day, Word of Honor is one of the best show I have watched. I cannot describe it but I love this drama so much. I have watched it 3 times from beginning to end without skipping. I watched some episodes multiples times. I highly recommend WOH to all drama watcher.

Close To Perfection
This is a stunning and brilliant romance story between two men in the most obtuse way imaginable. Yet, it accomplished what it set out to do. And that was to tell a story of two men in the world of Martial Arts during the time of Imperial China, that love is possible and that soulmates are real. It is a breathtaking journey of intrigue, love, and power sprinkled with the wonderment of martial arts skills within the splendor of the natural beauty of China. I was so engrossed in this story that I felt like I was also flying through the trees! Yes, it is long and a bit convulsed but none of that matters. It is a story of two men destined to be together and by each other. They indeed complimented and supplemented each other as well as completed one another. There frankly is nothing more romantic than that.Read my full review of this epic series at BLBliss.com.

Soul mates is a good bond!
Well, where do I start! This was a 3 days worthwhile watching the drama. Been watching spoilers while waiting for Viki to upload all episodes and finally I watched the last episode (epilogue).
Jumping onto the review:
Story: the novel being written by Priest, I already knew it was going to be good. Now I'll start to read the novel because everything was well scripted and didn't bore me. I've always liked the way these historical dramas are told and considering that I "love" watching Bromance, this was another one to add on my list. Like the untamed and Guardian the relationship between the 2 mains was well constructed. Overall, Nice story!
Acting/Cast: I knew Gong Jun from Advanced bravely and other dramas and was excited when he was announced for WKX's role. Everything was well made and his acting didn't disappoint me as always. As for Zhang Zhehan, it was my first drama from him but I heard a lot of good thing on his acting so I wasn't worried. The way he portrayed ZZS's character was just amazing. Their chemistry was beautiful and I liked every minute I watched with WKX flirting with "Ah Xu". The CGIs were great, the costumes also and the action scenes were well made. I laughed and cried a lot. The supporting cast did an amazing job and I grew liking them even hating some characters (bad ones) but only because they made everything believable about their characters. Plus they were all handsome and beautiful ☺.
Music: well I downloaded all their music. The ending song was my favorite.
For Bromance lovers this is for you. Same goes with those who like wuxia and dramas from ancient times!!
I'll re-watch it for sure!

hmmm
Not really a BL fan, but acting wise it was superb, from main leads to side characters. I’ll have to admit I skipped a lot of parts, and mainly focused on Zhou Ye, it was so tragic on her end :(Have a soft spot for Gong Jun since I really liked him on Begin Again, but I was really here for my baby girl Zhou Ye, I can’t wait for her upcoming series (Legend of the Female General) with Ryan Cheng.
Aside from her pure, clear, vibrant beauty, she’s really talented not annoying, I barely have biases on female actrssses but so far, South Korea: Bae Suzy, Japan: Suzu Hirose, China: Zhou Ye those are my 3 baby girls so far!

Far better than expected. Can't take my eyes off the fight scenes & interactions with the male leads
This is my first review I'm leaving for a Chinese drama....and my oh my, I did not expect to write this. Like at all. I thought this show was rly dry but NOW I'M OBSESSED(Spoilers only for ep.1)
(Also I'm a drama noob so this isn't speaking so much from experience but more so from an enjoyment factor)
At first, I put this on as background noise whilst focusing on my uni work, and the first episode sure didn't sell me. I barely glanced at it no more than 5 times, until our MC started putting on his face disguise, which I was like Oh, that's pretty neat. But before that, nothing rly interested me. I told my friend who asked that it was boring. LOL HOW WRONG I WAS
I had no idea what was happening but by episode 3 I was definitely not doing my uni work anymore. The two male leads completely got me absorbed and the acting is actually really mesmerising. Ep 1 and 2's CG was pretty subpar and had a few questionable moments but the fighting choreography from Ep 3 and onwards was surprisingly great and well shot, dynamic and just super cool. And it only got better and better, as soon as the show moved onto the two male leads (literally by the end of Ep.2 it's all about them) I was watching 80% netflix and 20% work....and now at Ep. 10 I've completely given up the concept of getting any work done whatsoever whilst I have this on ???? It's brilliant. It's actually brilliant.
And I may have just spoiled myself big time because I decided to go back and properly watch Episode 1 to finally understand the entire premise and plot of the show.... Let's just say my jaw is on the floor right now and I'm writing this review cause goddamn this just took the entire thing to the next level.... Maybe for me it's a bit more on the shock factor since I had no clue of the identity of either male leads for 10 frigging episodes ?? and just after learning one backstory I think I realised who the second male lead is and I really can't cope ??
All in all it's just getting so good and I was so wrong about this show. The first episode is actually good too, it's just that I didn't care enough to pay attention ? Now I know what a dumb move that was. Excited to finish Episode 10 and follow along the growing plot. It has solid world-building and dynamics, sure lots of generic tropes but all in all super interesting and I can say I'm totally hooked ??
Loving the 'eye acting' of the 'second' lead Gong Jun, like the ever so subtle wavering of his eyes conveys volumes and I replayed it a few times. Great eye expressions ? and Zhang ZheHan is a cutie lolol he lowkey looks similar to my ult. bias Mark Lee from NCT haha
The music could defo be worked on, the first ending song is rly ? Not it, but I'm enjoying the main theme/the opening.
DEFINITELY WORTH A REWATCH. In fact I'll be re-watching the entire thing once I finish it ?

The justice is the truth word of honor
Fantastic story and wonderfull characters full of grace thanks to actors with great potentials. Specially Gong jun with his best acting till now. The show is closed to be stolen by his marvelous acting. Zhang zhe han its very good actor too,his character of Zhou Zi Shu is the counterpart of Wen Ke Xing and Both characters complement each other perfectly well. The chemistry was palpable from the first minute they both shared the scene. Scorpion king was a very complex and enigmatic character as well and very magnetic too. The script was always interesting and not at all predictable. It always amazed me. This is something to be appreciated since in the world of drama there is already a lot said and done and concepts or ideas are almost always repeated, but this is not the case in Word of honor, and it has fascinated me. It is a drama with a story well told and performed with all the casting performance. You can tell that it has been created with all the love from the team and actors. The Ost more than correct, quite emotional and very in line with the story and the feeling that the drama conveyed.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
