However, where one follows the same case and mysteries (Beyond Evil), the other is more case-based but done well with detailed explanations. Anyone who loves Beyond Evil for the characters, will love Mad Dog for the same growth arcs.
I think both has similar feel to it, however Beyond Evil is more dark, mysterious and has little to no romance. Law School on the other hand had a touch of romance and comedy in it . Both stories had interesting plot line of murders and the events following it from the legal and political perspective.
