This drama contains a potent mix of the most annoying Korean drama tropes - prideful and snobbish chaebol bosses and chaebol kids, an impoverished female lead, angst-filled bromances, boring scenes revolving around company politics, etc. The first part of the drama which took place in California featured some terrible American acting and terrible Korean Engrish.

Cha Eun Sang, played by Park Shin Hye, does not know how to kiss, as seen from all of Park Shin Hye's other dramas. She is mostly tossed and bossed about in the show by the richer characters around her, until she suddenly decides, once in a while, to take charge of her own life and decisions. Girl, get a backbone! Choi Young Do, played by Kim Woo Bin, magically transformed from being one of the most hateful characters to almost having a bromance with Tan. That was really odd.

This is one of Lee Min Ho's poorer dramas. After the strides he made with City Hunter, I don't know why he chose to return to a soppy chaebol show. Park Shin Hye didn't give a performance that compelled me to really side with her character. Kim Woo Bin certainly did well with the material he was given - one cannot blame him for having to play such a violent character, but he once again does well playing a angst-filled teenager, learning to forgive those who have hurt him (sounds like Heung Soo in School 2013!).

I felt that the side characters had more interesting stories. Krystal's character, Bo Na, and Minhyuk's character, Chan Young, along with Hyungsik's character, Myung Soo, were the only cheery bits of this show. Add to that the hilarious relationship between Kim Tan's mum and Eun Sang's mum. Kim Ji Won's character, Rachel, started out as your vanilla hateful second female lead, but as more of her relationship with her mum was revealed, I began to partially understand her hateful attitude. The fate of Choi Jin Hyuk's character, Won, provides an interesting contrast to Tan's story, but too bad the show didn't delve that much into his character. Kang Haneul's character, Hyo Shin, has a pretty unsurprising backstory, but with KHN's charm I was really won over by him.

And finally, LOVE IS FEELING, LOVE IS MAH PAIN, and LOVE IS THE MOMEEEEENNNNNT.

For the rest of us who have objective view of the world (in other word, who think of Lee Min Ho not as the God of Asia), will notice that most of the casts especially the main role, are too old to play High school students. Once you can not pass that basic fact, the story becomes not believable and forced. Still great actings delivered by tha casts. But the issue of a girl being fought by the richest and most handsomest students from the best private school is just too 'drama' like that I just can't get over it...

An innocent guilty pleasure, this drama was Boys over Flowers if it had been well produced, with inappropriately aged actors. And ugly sweater humour. I still have nightmares that “Love is the Moment” suddenly plays at unsuitable moments in everyday life.

In Short: A fun ride, where I really just wanted everything and everyone to be BETTER. The immense number of characters should have reduced screen time for brooding, listening to music in tandem, and creepy parental romances. Instead, everyone got the short end of the stick.

Pros: The one-liners were great, and the Chan Young - Bo Na romance was really sweet.

Cons: Kim Tan turned out to be one of the most boring leads I have seen to date. They could have limited the number of slow walks - grab wrists - meaningful stares moments to under two times per episode. Love was not those moments.

Like almost everyone who watched this drama, I was very disappointed. In a sentence, it was a huge waste of talent.

The story was... weird honestly. More than once it felt like the writer didn't know what she wanted to do so she was just pushing along. The only interesting stuff that happened was in the last few episodes which was very sad because those story lines and plots could be taken side by side and given time but the writer decided to give all the focus to the boring main couple.

Which brings us to the main leads of the drama. I'll start with Kim Tan. I love Lee Min Ho. I really do. And it wasn't his fault at all. It was all Kim Tan's fault and the writer's fault. I didn't like Kim Tan AT ALL! He was selfish and spoiled and controlling and I just really didn't like him. I hated his hair and clothes too.

Park Shin Hye surprised me. She has really improved in her acting. She still has no chemistry with her on-screen lovers but in other scenes she did really well. I also liked Eun Sang in, like, the first half of the drama, I think. I thought she had potential. That she would stand up for herself. But no. I rooted for her the few moments she did fight back. But throughout most of the drama she was getting pushed around by Kim Tan and Young Do and she let them!

Yound Do was a bully and no one should like or justify what he did to people. But OHMYGOD KIMWOOBIN!!! He's not only good looking but also an amazing actor! He played Young Do so well! He even managed to have some kind of chemistry with Park Shin Hye. This drama did made me a Kim Woo Bin fan. BUT the overnight change in Young Do was not believable at all. As much as I loved the new Young Do, no one changes overnight like this.

A huge problem this drama had was that there were way too many characters. And all the actors who played these characters were very good but they weren't given the attention they deserved. There were so many characters and so many story lines to deal with that most of them went neglected. For example, I still don't understand that sunbae's story. Neither do I get the teacher's story. I love Choi Jin Hyuk but his talent was wasted big time. And you get my point. The writer put too much on her plate and ours.

What bothers me the most though is the fact that they had so many chances to build up on the Kim Won-Kim Tan brother arc. And Choi Young Do-Kim Tan friendship arc. But they chose to forget about these things until the last episodes.

The ending was so rushed that it didn't feel like an ending. The drama went at moderate speed in the beginning, then slowed down, and then in the last few episodes it went by at lightening speed. This caused many arcs to be left at that. Many of the characters did not get the happy ending they deserved. And it all looked very sloppy.

Despite all the negatives, there were also things that I really loved in this drama. For example, everyone's favorite couple Chan Young and Bo Na. These two were so cute! I loved them! Another relationship that I really enjoyed was Kim Tan's mom's and Eun Sang's mom's odd sort of friendship. These two were really fun to watch. Plus they had far better chemistry than Kim Tan and Eun Sang even though Lee Min Ho tried so hard. Remember that forced kiss? It made my jaw drop 'cause I was like "Looks like LMH took my comment seriously." And I guess it did kind of work because Park Shin Hye did look a little more in love in the last few episodes. Before that it seemed like a joke every time Eun Sang declared her love for Tan.

I also really liked Rachel and I wanted them to do more with her. I loved her with Young Do! They looked really cute together.

I'll end my rant now with the statement that this drama fell near You're Beautiful for me. It was OK to watch, not super bad and you'll find that there are moments that are very enjoyable, but it wasn't one of the really good ones. If you want to go ahead and watch for the gorgeous cast then I won't stop you but if you are looking for a really good drama then I would warn you against watching this one.

Overrated and disappointing big time.
i wonder if it is because it is overrated?? what if it was done with a less famous actors?? or did not get this much publicity??
i think it will still be disappointing and mediocre drama.
there was no story no plot no real conflict, and the love story wasn't convincing and it felt kind of forced on us.
the male cast wear toooo much makeup and the hairdos weren't helping especially Won's.
i hope Lee Min Ho wash his face and fire his manager and stylist.

I saw some complain that they didn't like the story line at all , but this type of drama wasn't going to be over dramatic . It was just about various love story's in high school .But I got what the writers were trying to tell us like the meaning of the story. the meaning of the story was to tell that being a heir in your family line takes lots of sacrifices such as living a normal high school life , having any personal goals , or being able to love someone . Like it was said in the last episode Won had to bear the crown which was loosing someone he loved and had to get a arranged marriage for the sake of the company . also I liked how it was said at the end that how she realized that how at the beginning of the story she envied all the rich students but in the end she realized that they were suffering too.

Heirs was probably one of the most anticipated dramas this year. I couldn't wait to watch it because I just loved the cast and the story sounded promising to me. But although I liked the idea of the whole thing I started watching it without any expectations because I tend to expect too much and end up being disappointed (I normally expect too much that one can't possibly answer my expectations).
So this time I just wanted to spend time with some of my favorite actresses and actors and have a good time.

One of the things I liked the most about the drama were actually the characters. Although I wasn't fond of all of them I had a great time watching them interact with each other and grow as the story went on.
If you compare any character from their self of the first episode and then see them in the last episode, you can see how much they've changed. Even Tan's father whom I saw as bad ahjussi could make me hate him less at the end.
[Although the Chairwoman stayed annoying]
But the person that probably went through the most change was Choi Young Do. He went from being a hopeless bully to a person who is ready to fight for the things he wants and to someone who wasn't willing to accept his fate and his bad character as they were and tried to actually be a good person. He's probably the person I liked the most from the whole drama which I can't really explain because I already liked him from the very start were he was a horrible bully and where we didn't know anything about him or how he turned out to be the person he was.
Although he wasn't implicitly the main person in this drama he was the one who occupied my mind the most.
But that doesn't mean that I didn't like Kim Tan and Cha Eun Sang a lot too. Actually I liked Kim Tan a lot for though I liked Choi Young Do a bit more than Kim Tan I wanted Kim Tan to get the girl. He just deserved her. Generally speaking Kim Tan is probably the best chaebol in the history of drama. For me he was different than your typical drama-chaebol. Although he was a spoiled child he knew how to shoulder responsibility and he did what had to be done. Moreover he wasn't arrogant or anything which was a big plus.
But while we have a close look at the main characters we shouldn't lose sight of the supporting characters because they were as important as the main characters. At least in my opinion. For example you can't just ignore Jo Myung Soo or the relationship between Tan's and Eun Sang's mother(s) or the realationship between Bo Na and Chan Young or all the other persons who did a great job (I don't want to mention them all by name).

All in all this was an enjoyable drama which you should give a try. Ignore the hype and leave your expectations behind and just have a good time. I can't deny that I liked it and that I don't necessarily feel that it was a waste of time.

And always remember: Love is the moment. Haha.

The way I see it, a lot of people who watched this drama started it mainly because of its star-studded cast. That being said, after its end, there are some who will rate it very high because of its cast while others may rate it much lower because they were disappointed in the storyline. While I am one who started it because I wanted to see if it was really worth the hype, I must say Heirs was a pleasant surprise for me.

Story -8/10
I like the school drama/romance atmosphere and I suppose it's not the most original storyline with rich boy/poor girl. There were points where the story was a bit slow especially with the various story lines going on simultaneously while also being linked. It wasn't that hard to keep track of and after a time, it became easier to identify and distinguish between them. I liked that the story wasn't focused on the main relationship alone but still showcased that relationship well.
The ending was good though there's one character whose ending I didn't like though that may be because I like the actor and though the character got what he had always wanted, it was at a higher cost than he had anticipated. I felt sorry for him. On the other hand, the endings for the other characters including the main couple were good and cute.

Acting/Cast - 9/10
It's actually not because they're all such well known and loved stars but because their acting was just that good. There's one actor in particular I feel stood out from the rest and he got a lot of fans for his role here including myself - Kim Woo Bin. His character Choi Young Do started off as a horrible bully who was rather snarky and cute at time but then eventually evolved into a really amazing character. His evolution wasn't so drastic as to lose the character seen previously but was done so well that the transition seemed perfect.

Music - 7/10
The OST for this drama is actually very good and I've already downloaded most of it. I especially like that some of the actors sang the songs pertaining to their character which always seems to make it more authentic. That being said, the reason this rating is only a 7 is because at times, I felt as though the same song was being used too often. Maybe it's because two of the songs have similar lyrics and feel to it but sometimes I felt like I was back into Almost Paradise mode a la Boys Over Flowers.

Re-watch Value - 7/10
Reason for this being because of the slow periods. Honestly, if I re-watch this drama, I will skip through some of the heavier parts since I'm not a fan of angst and tears. There are many cute and funny scenes though that I definitely am going to watch over and over again.

Overall, it is an 8 out of 10 for me.
I recommend that everyone who's a fan of school drama/romance or of one the actors here to give it a try (at least 4 episodes because to me that's when it picked up).

All in all, congratulations to the entire staff and crew of Heirs on a job well done! :)

This drama is just your ordinary korean love triangle drama where a hot chaebols fall in love with an innocent hardworking poor girl. Cute, but nothing special really. Although I do love Krystal and Minhyuk.

The actors: the reason I gave a 7 is because of Lee Minho, Kang Haneul, Minhyuk, Woobin, and Krystal. I don't particularly dislike Park Shin Hye, but I'm just not a fan of her acting in this story. She made this story flat for me. She's supposed to be this innocent and lovable girl but pushed got me annoyed really (no offense)

The music: I LOVE THE OST :3 I seriously do. Especially the one by hongki <3 ft island is the best ay?

Rewatch value: nope. never gonna rewatch this again. watched it five months ago and until today I haven't rewatched it.

Overall: this is actually not bad although my review make it looks like its terrible. It's actually cute. It's just that I'm not really into dramas where the girl is so innocent and lovely and all that shit.

The leading characters were so unlikeable. The female protagonist was a crybaby and couldn't stand on her own two feet. The male protagonist was immature, dumb and arrogant. Sure anyone can have these traits, but there was barely any character development for either the main female or male protagonists throughout the whole series, which frustrated me endlessly. One of the most liked characters for me was Cha Eun Sang's mum (AND SHE WAS MUTE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD). I also really liked Lee Hyo-Shin, Yoon Chan-Young, Lee Bo-Na and even Rachel Yoo. They are the supporting characters yet they had greater character development and were more likeable than the main characters. The cast and the actors' performances were superb but the script and storyline really let them down. The only promising part in this whole series was when the story started to pick up its pace around Episode 11 but then went downhill towards the end. Overall, the whole plot was boring and borderline annoying. The music choice was okay only because I love FTISLAND's song. I hate the fact that songs cued at wrong times throughout the series. Some melodramatic moments in the series were cringey enough - I didn't need to hear an out-of-place song to top it all off. All in all, what a waste of an attractive drama poster and an amazing cast. I wanted to give this an overall lower score but I respect the actors' performances and their hard work. I'm glad I didn't drop this series and forced myself to complete it because now I am CONVINCED that this drama is a huge disappointment.

Wasted potential

Bo-na's character carried the whole show.

Other characters didn't seem to have enough personality, especially Park Shin Hye being the main lead. Her acting was so good, yet the plot of the each episode after the first one is boring. I wish they had delved more into the lives of each heir like their company and had problems of their own, not just the romantic problems of the love triangle. It just isn't enough. The cast is good, the acting is good, the production is also good. Just the writing, and directing didn't click

This show it's so bad and not even like in a funny-bad way it's just terrible. Do not waste your time. Lee Minho is not at all charming in this I hate his character and they didn't even try to write an interesting character with Eunsang. And yeah Kim Woobin is attractive ig but his character also sucks like can these creeps please leave Eunsang alone she's so boring what about her is so interesting? That being said, Krystal kinda ate this up like I'm hit or miss on her but she needs to be doing more roles like this. Her character was so FUN and she delivers my favorite line in any TV show with 'Gosh, I hate him so much but he's so hot.' I love her. Kim Mikyung ate that up though like her dynamic with the other mom was so fun I love them can I have a show just about them? But yeah the women in this show are treated so poorly and the show just never does anything about it???? Instead they shove two boring bad boys at us like we're supposed to thank them for it?????? Park Hyungsik and Kim Jiwon i'm so sorry you two had to be apart of this show. But yeah Park Hyungsik's character is fun even if he's not doing anything and QUEEN KIM JIWON ATE AS USUAL. Her character is so fun I love a good mean girl and this time it's completely warranted like if my bf left me for Eunsang I'd riot too. It's like whoever wrote this just took the script of Boys over Flowers and changed a few things and thought we wouldnt notice like no this is WORSE than boys over flowers this is just such a bad show. But ig I have to give it credit for that Krystal line
