Loved this show! It was the first kdrama I’ve ever watched and it wasn’t disappointing either. I seen clips on Facebook and always wanted to watch it till I finally gave in. It was worth it. Great chemistry. I’m however I wish they gave us a better ending or came out with a second season about the couple. I really hope they do give it a thought or try. The storyline was perfect and the fact that they didn’t focus too much on the main storyline in each episode was good. They give you other stories within the show that will help lead up to the main point. Watch it you won’t regret it at all! Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
The Master's Sun (2013)
Relatively fine.I'm not much into the spooky-based shows, especially with the "I see dead people" twist, but I was pleasantly surprised by The Master's Sun. Although the spook factor is toned down as the show progresses and the show turns a bit into a slice of life-y, pseudo-romance-y, melodrama; take that as you will.
While the ghost story lines are directed pretty well, they are sometimes awkward and logically head-scratching. The cinematography is uncreative and the dialogues are oftentimes stiff. And yes, a lot of the classic K-drama tropes come into play as well:
- dismissive man meets pitiful woman romance
- arrogant woman falling in love with the uncaring man romance
- amnesia plot device
- "bad step-mom" character
- airport scene
The climax of the show where all the "big reveal(s)" happen--- were unexciting. An anticlimactic, awkward ending sequence featuring an unconvincing villain resulting in an endgame that just sorta... happens?
And the show never stops annoyingly beating the proverbial dead horse with the "sun" wordplay. Female lead is the Male lead's sun; big sun, little sun, The Master's Sun; yeah I get it... enough already.

A very unique love story where romance is not the focus
The last episodes break all the misconception the viewers and even the people inside the drama have about her being a weak candy girl to the male lead. You have to be older to actually understand the push and pull of this drama and why the female lead take certain life decisions. Perhaps because of the language barrier, it wasn't always clear why he takes certain decisions regarding their relationship. The dialogues are actually hilarious and the ML's cynicism is top notch. I love all the side chracters too and I only have the warmest memories no matter how many times I finish this drama. There were many nice life lessons too and the ML also realises how he could have handled things differently and spoken differently, unlike many arrogant rich man poor woman dramas.It will always be one of those dramas that are home to me and I must admire the clever brain who wrote the climax and all the really nice subplots that intertwin to nicely with the journey of the main leads. I still always cry during some of their adventures together and this drama has a very special place in my heart.
The ending was perfect, with a closure and new beginning for everyone.

Desde o momento em que você entra nesse mundo de programas de TV asiático, há aquelas histórias que são muito conhecidas e aclamadas e que todos dizem que deveria ser visto, e Master's Sun é um desses.Enquanto pensava no que assistir, depois de muitos dramas bons de 2024, pensei em ir atrás de um drama que fosse um pouco mais antigo e que todo mundo conhecia, e foi assim que comecei a assisti-lo.
Desde o início com a premissa de fantasma, já conhecida por mim, chamou minha atenção, é sempre muito divertido assistir um tema de fantasia e que nos faz fugir da realidade. A construção da dinâmica dos protagonista é muito divertida, ela não quer soltá-lo e ele louco pra que ela deixe-o, as subtramas dos fantasmas ajuda a aproximá-los, mesmo quando aquela relação só tem um único objetivo, o tão procurado objeto que o radar de 10 milhões precisa encontrar. Todo o andar do drama é bem construído e é evidente que o romance é o mais importante de tudo na história, junto com a construção da confiança da FL e o amolecimento do ML.
Todas as atuações são ótimos. O ML sendo egoísta e se importando e melhorando aos poucos pela protagonista vai sendo notado aos poucos, sendo uma construção constante. Já a atriz que faz a FL deu um show de atuação ao falar sozinha em várias cenas onde ela estava com outros personagens e eles não poderiam ver os fantasmas.
A OST desse drama é muito boa, apesar de poucas realmente terem ficado na minha cabeça, o tema principal dos protagonistas ainda ressoa na minha cabeça em qualquer momento.
Com certeza é uma história que deve ser admirada. Como disse anteriormente, as tramas, subtramas e atuações fazem da história um grande charme, por isso e outras razões ela é considerada um dos grandes clássicos dos k-dramas.

The storyline, actors and everything in it is very enjoyable. I love how the story progresses and how the actors are so damn adorable! A scary, funny, romantic drama that I haven't seen for a long time! I mean other KDRAMA series are good too, but this series will make you giggle and stuff! Even if I am disappointed sometimes in the story the characters in this series is very entertaining to watch, some parts are predictable but I like how you can predict and see everything watching the drama! You will not be disappointed!
I recommend this KDRAMA very much!

Лично у меня две ложечки дегтя. Первая, это иррациональная нелюбовь к Со Ин Гуку, а ведь говорят звезда сейчас, ну вот не нравится он мне внешне, аж до дрожи.
Вторая, как бы лучше объяснить. это тот текст, который почти в каждой серии хоть раз, но произносили главные герои. По мне - памятник надо ставить актерам, которые могли запомнить те словесные конструкции, которые им понаписал сценарист. И боюсь, тут дело не в переводе на английский/русский, оригинал похоже был таким замудренным, что напоминал какой это эпос, что ли. Коряво объясняю, я знаю, но... вот так причем с окружающими все они общались нормально, но как только поворачивались друг к другу - начинались словеса.

Story: As I said above, if you like ghosts and creepy scenarios, this is the drama for you. The first half of this drama has some great ghost scenes. I also like that this story also has romance and comedic elements because I think it rounded out the story quite well. One issue I had was that it seemed as the drama progressed, the ghosts disappeared...which was disappointing to me because I was watching this to be scared and with the second half of the drama, I really wasn't scared at all. I wanted the episodic ghosts to be more relevant in the second half of the drama but I understand why they sort of disappeared...BUT STILL! NEEDED MORE GHOSTS!
Acting/Cast: To be truthful, I watched this drama because of So Ji Sub. I heard he was great and I heard right. For me, He was the best actor in this drama HANDS DOWN! I loved him and his interactions with the character Tae Gong Shil. Now the actress who played Tae Gong Shil wasn't bad either but I did find her character to be annoying in some parts. The character I liked the least was the model, Tae Yi Ryeong. I thought she needed to grow up and not be a child for most of the drama. She annoyed me a lot (a big NO NO in this drama) Lastly, I thought Seo In Guk was good in the drama. He didn't wow me but he wasn't horrible either. I did like his character's interactions with Tae Yi Ryeong. Oh and another small thing, there was this support character, the other security guard...HE HAD SUCH AN ANNOYING LAUGH! I COULDN'T GET OVER IT! I know it is small and weird that I would concentrate on that but I just couldn't get past that.
Music: I loved the main OST that played when the 2 leads were together. I thought it complimented those moments well and it was memorable.
Rewatch Value: I would watch this again...Probably fast forward to my favorite scenes but I would watch it again
Overall: Another huge issue I had with this drama was the number of episodes in the drama...I do not think it had to be 17 episodes long...It felt very drawn out in the middle and17 episodes seemed unnecessary. The problems/storyline that were being drawn out in the second half of the drama could have been resolved in 14, 15, 16 episodes EASILY!! Other than that. I thought this was a very entertaining and fun drama filed with ghosts and romance...I loved how it ended! Be sure to bring the popcorn and be scared (at least in the 1st half of the drama).

Besides Joo Joong-won, my other favorite characters were Secretory Kim and Tae Yi Rung. There are so many loveable secretorys in kdramas but Secretory Kim is one of the best. He is a shipper like the rest of us and is almost more of a fatherly figure than anything else. You can tell just how much the main guy adores him and needs him. I adored Tae Yi Rung...she was the freaking highlight. I thought I was going to hate her since usually the woman who dislikes the main actress tends to be horrible but she was an absolute joy. At times I felt she was much more interesting than Tae Yang.
This Drama starts off in the scary side but after a couple of episodes it ceases to be which kind of goes with Tae Yang getting more used to the ghosts. The stories behind the death of some of these ghosts and why they haven't moved on are also a big part of the drama and really is where are all the heart lies. I cried many times.
I wish it could be explained why Joo Joong-won was the only one who is able to make ghosts disappear for her but they did explain how she comes to be able to see ghosts.
Overall, Great drama! A must watch :)

Sojisub is an amazing actor and he proves it yet again in this one. Though I didn't much care for his hairstyle in this drama, that takes a complete backseat in front of his superior acting. Gong Hyo Jin is another amazing actress and both of them as a lead pair give a performance that is worth watching.
The supernatural element just adds to the uniqueness of this drama. It does get a little boring in the middle but then it picks up again soon.
The acting is just so good that you can't help liking everything they do; you can't help liking this grumpy man!
This is definitely worth watching.
You will be missing some great acting if you skip this one.

I absolutely love it, I've been trying to watch it for so long but never started this time I finally watch it all episodes honestly it was very fun to watch, at first I lowkey hated KW bc I thought he was using TGS & JJW father and him were a threat I thought he was a bad person but I discovered the truth I started having second lead syndrome lol but at the same time I wanted him to fall for TYR bc even though she was a slightly bit annoying she was cute & funny her reactions were priceless when she's with KW. JJW aunt got on my nerves too much but I couldn't hated her bc I've seen her in way too many other dramas where she's nice so. As for JJW secretary he was amazing I like how he was with his boss also when I realize the truth about CHJ pretending to be her sister I was dead mad good thing JJW didn't believe anything she said that was shocking to me I never expected that plot twist, love the ending, love it overall but I still wish we had more & more scenes of the second lead couple specially at the end they were made for each other. The OSTs in this drama are so freaking good a 10 from me. In conclusion I enjoyed it it was worth watching I will definitely watch it again even though not soon but I will.
