i barely write reviews unless i rlly want my thoughts out there
for the plot ? don't watch it. it is insanely messed up and all over the place. the writers took advantage of the hype that was building around the twists that they took it to an excessive amount.for the acting ? definitely watch it. i hated everything about the drama's plot but i come back to it weekly because it was beautifully casted. the ending is horrible - literally the worst of all - but everyone's acting made up for its shitiness.
also spoiler but why was yoonchul disregarded just like that? rona didnt grieve for the dude, and eunbyul didnt even talk about his death in her testimony ? girl ??

rushed and ridiculous end to an amazing show
After everything I've been through watching this show I really expected a better ending. Seriously wtf was that finale?! I'd be lying if I said there was no payoff at all but the execution for the last part of this series really fell flat. The writing for this show had ways been batshit crazy but it used to be the fun enjoyable kind of crazy. After a while the writers prioritized outsmarting the audience over plots that make sense. Also the whole "x character died but they're not actually dead" trope got so dragged out throughout the series that by the 3rd installment I just gave it the dude eye. But the way they wrapped things up was just rushed and so laughable. My biggest gripes are how they killed off OYH, SSR, JDT, and SJ. Just plain lazy. JDT needed a more satisfying death! everything was leading to his demise and once I watched him die I was mad because the way he went out was so stupidly done it was laughable. And why would SSR just kill herself like that?! I was rooting for you! we were all rooting for you! it literally made no sense for her to do that. why take your life after you've made it this far to avenge your daughter? Logan was def better in the earlier seasons. after a while his fake deaths got annoying. I'm glad that the penthouse kids got SOME sort of healing from the trauma they shared. SK prob had the biggest character development out of everyone and her brother right behind her. EB is truly a sad story. What her parents did to her is unforgivable, but it's sad that she threw away her bright future because of her family's issues. out of all the villaians SJ had the best written end. Her last scenes where she watches her daughter from afar after hitting rock bottom was heartbreaking. Even after everything she did I felt bad for her in those moments. I didn't dislike everything in the last episode but overall I just wish it could've been better.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
It is obviously a nonsense story. Season 3 was a mess, and it feels like it has been gone to a third season just for the sake of ending it. At least it was finished. The ending is fine with me, I understood it, with lots of what happened before and after.
I don't have a lot to say about the actors and actresses because they did exceptionally well in the drama. Nailed their roles perfectly.
I think this drama is way too much makjang for me. Not a recommended drama. It may suit to others who like makjang specifically, but it's really not for me.

Something you will remember forever
This one is something you can't forget it's been a while since I watched this but I still haven't forgotten about it! It made me feel angry so much when I was watching this but it also made me wait for the next episode so badly!! When I watched this drama first I did a really silly mistake 💀 which is I watched the season 2 first instead of season 1 I know everyone might think how I understood everything I also don't know how I did but I did somehow 😭😭🤣 Overall the actors did a amazing job I mean really it was really so good! This drama is a solid 10/10 but The rewatch value is 8 as it might be too much for some people to watch this all over again! (you know high blood pressure 💀) Lastly I would recommend everyone to give this one a try ...It might be a lot of episodes but it's truly worth it even more perfect if you loved the recent drama 7 escape and wants to watch anything like that (I loved both dramas a lot)Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Drama that completely doesn't make sense but still addictive to watch
I guess after Penthouse 1 and Penthouse 2, the audience is so used to tons of unexplainable plot twists, we are not even surprised anymore when the same happens in Penthouse 3. Every single time a character dies (especially important characters), I can't help but think "how is he/she going to come back later?" I think we can summarise the series with three points1) The rich will never run out of money. Even when nearing bankruptcy, there's always a way to bounce back to the same wealth as before.
2) The more evil the person is, the longer life he'll live.
3) No matter how deadly the encounter is, there is still a way to come out alive and look better than before.
After conditioning us to think that anything is possible, you would think there would somehow be a happy ending as an answer to all the efforts that were done in the previous two seasons, until the screenwriter decides that it doesn't make sense to do the same trick twice (or multiple times) and give us one of the weirdest endings (in my opinion).
To be honest, I kind of feel cheated. After following this drama for so long, watching each character's ups and downs, the ending really made me feel like I've wasted my time. On one hand, it has been a great journey. It is kind of nice to see the dramatic lives of the rich once in a while, but on the other hand, the ending is very underwhelming.

I don't understand why people don't like it
Plots:Season 1 was intense. Each episode kept me on my toes. It was super stressful and as much as wanted to drop it to avoid the stress, I couldn't. Season 2 was also very interesting and showed us the unsuccessful revenge story. Season 3 was a bit rushed. The writers threw all the history and motivations into it. Although it was quite interesting, some things did not make sense. For example, Logan coming back to life. It is literally impossible for a bomb to explode right next to you and for you to survive. I hated how they kept making everything worse for Bae Ro Na. Killing her mum was enough. I am quite thankful Logan was alive though and that Seok Hoon and Ro Na got their happy ending.
Acting:
The acting could not get any better, Joo Dan Tae and Cheon Seo Jin's acting literally blew my mind considering their real personalities and roles in other dramas.
Rewatch value:
I personally would not rewatch the series only because of the amount of stress it gave me. It was way to evil.
So yeah, In conclusion, it wasn't bad, just a little rushed. It was quite interesting and I would definitely recommend it. Also, the sets, architecture and interior design were amazing. I would definitely recommend the drama if your looking for inspiration for that kind of stuff

Now let me tell you something
I want to turn back time. I wish I never saw this season and here are the reasons. First of all the ending? What an unnecessary thing to do. At the last episode, I was like "Hmmm, 15 minutes left and it's going so smoothly so far."Well, I need mental treatment because I am mentally unstable. Why would Sim Su Ryeon, Logan Lee, and Ha Yoon Cheol die? Where will the story lead without it? Into the same f*cking happy ending. Second of all, they didn't explain the scene with the homeless man and Seo Kyeon. Like was it Joo Dan Tae or what? Third, all again why would they kill Ha Yoon Cheol when they were saving him the whole f*cking episode? And last but not least the edit I saw about the characters was correct, I didn't believe it since it was like the last episode and still people who were supposed to die didn't so I was like "Hmmm, ok so Logan, Su Ryeon and Yoon Cheol will live, I am so happy." At that point, I just wanted to throw my phone as far as I could. But when it comes to the whole series I enjoyed it, kind of.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Remarkable Show
This show could've ended when the greedy characters were already in jail but this season is like a rollercoaster ride. It is full of emotions and intensity. The ending was worthy since they had their own crime. At least, they can finally rest after a long war. Not only them but also the people and loved ones that they left are finally happy and at peace. What's really amazing about this show is it gives lessons and realization to an individual. How small decisions can have a heavy outcome. I will forever treasure the moral of this show.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Time wasted on uimportant plot points
I woudn't want to be one of those 'i only liked the first season' people. And I'm not. The second season was narratively excellent. While I waited for s3 to have a satisfactory concusion, the writer went for cheap shock value. t didn't deliver on the characters. Not only it wasted time with secondary characters and plot points that did little to the story, like Beak Jun Ki, it failed to give much needed detail on the primaries' motivations, like Su Ryeon's and Yoon Hee's .
I am saying all that as the biggest fan of the series. I liked it until s3e12.
Not to mention the finale. In my opinion, it reversed the whole point it had established for three seasons and betrayed the characters and the audience alike.
So should you watch it? If you've watched until s2, it's impossible not to. But don't le the awful ending negae a year long lovely experience.
