Very enjoyable fantasy drama!
Trully such a nice surprise! I started watching it as I usualy like stories with definitly opposites main charaters. So the title seemed accurate :). And I really found some of " Beauty and the Beast" vibes - with an interesting background story that unfolds . Characters are smoothly sliding from comedy to deeper tones very easily, and leads are all doing great job in portraying their characters. Some time versatiles, some time hilarious.Even if it's not a high budget drama, actors direction, and the visual directing is very much willing to give us some sensitive and poetry (dark or light) lecture of the story.
I enjoyed it fully. Laughed a lot , and was quite thrilled too.
This drama is as good as reading an interesting tale... I recommend! :)
Will surely rewatch it as such.
Happy watching to you too, cheer!

Hated every minute of it but couldn't stop watching.
Didn't have high hopes upon seeing the make-up and costumes to begin with but what got me the most was the way in which the story kept getting dragged out. About 2/3 of the drama has gone by and miss Qi Pa has yet to discover the truth about Kui Mulang. The character development was close to nothing and god knows what is up with this evil scorpion man? Like the lack of backstory made him finding his daugther (which we didn't even know he had or missed) suddenly feel so random and out of nowhere? Just like all the dance scenes btw which made me cringe to death.FL could've been more expressive with her facial expressions as well imo, all I could remember was her looking like this: đïžđđïž half of the time. Another thing to point out is the scenery. Rather than showing the actual world all we got was this repeated cut scene of the realm from afar getting inserted and mostly the palace making immersion kinda difficult.
All in all not one for the rewatch list, though I can't stop watching this trainwreck. Like it's bad but I can't look away.

They exchange a lot of fluids
I DID NOT expect to like or even finish this cdrama. From the beginning the writing looked childish, cringe and over the top with plot holes, needless teen angst and not so convincing characters. But this is my first xia-xia (I think?) and maybe I was drawn to the tropes of the genre? I need to watch more to decide I guess.
So here are the reasons I ended up binge watching this: there is a fairly developed world building, many side characters that are interesting and have actual arcs and relationships between them, the angst between the protagonists is real (I felt so bad for poor ugly Kui Mulang who was constantly rejected by his love interest) and I think they approached the story as a spoof. The whole affair was so fluffy and unserious that made the series a breeze to watch.

The costuming for the female lead was a little strange, she didn't have any pants on for some reason. And I don't think that the director really cared about the side characters because they all only have like one outfit that they constantly wear throughout the entire show.
Another issue that I had in this show was Qi Pa's character. To start off, she has a really strange and weird name. Not only that but I didn't really like her character. She expects Kui Mulang to do all the work in chasing her and pursuing her and making her feel happy. Even when she was at fault, she still expected him to come see her. Personally if their love is mutual then she needs to put in some work and effort.

Story progress
Good drama. My only complaint is that they should have given more bonding time between and MC and FC without any lies or misunderstanding bw them. FC should have realised her feelings for LX much earlier and should have found LX and KML are the same person by episode 20 atleast so that would leave her more time to get to know MC as KML.Now I wish there were more episodes just because I want to see more of them falling in love with their true identities.Good storyline otherwise.Great acting. Fresh perspective on beauty and the beast concept and great chemistry.

A nice, funny series with an extraordinary Chen Zhe Yuan
Totally fanciful series on the theme âBeauty and the Beastâ.To appreciate it, thanks to the talent of Chen Zhe Yuan, who literally carries the drama on his shoulders, you have to agree to leave your brain at the door ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
PLOT: The FL, daughter of a nobleman, met the ML 5 years ago, and swallowed his pearl by accident. The ML, King of the Beast Clan, a hidden kingdom protected by a spell, must recover his pearl to save his kingdom. But the pearl can only be retrieved by a kiss from True Love. He kidnaps the FL, forces her to marry him and tries to win her over. He has a human appearance during the day, which FL falls in love with, but a wolf appearance at night. So she does everything possible to push him away.
PROS:
+ light series, no fuss, no painful scenes.
+ Excellent actors, particularly CZY brilliant in this double role.
+ Good quality CGI
+ wonderful (anachronistic) costumes, especially the FL outfits.
+ a few mystery, a touch of suspense, a lot of humor.
CONS:
- Slightly slow narration and some repetitive narrative arcs => skipping ep22-ep25
=> nice, funny series with an extraordinary Chen Zhe Yuan

This show was cuter than it had any right to be.
Going into The Princess and the Werewolf I didnât have high expectations but I needed something light to watch. This show fit the bill perfectly, and by time it was finished it became one of my favorites. I absolutely loved it.Is it utterly ridiculous? Yes, at (many) times it is. Are the costumes good? No, but theyâre not bad except for the werewolf prosthetics; they were terrible. Did I expect this to be a top quality production? No, and yet it still gave me everything I needed. I got some good chuckles from the lightheartedness of the story and one scene had me literally laughing out loud because it was so unexpected, yet so well done.
The supporting cast were all great and I really started to care about their side stories, as well.
If I have one complaint about it (besides the terrible prosthetics), is that it took far too long to do the reveal. It could have been probably several episodes shorter and been more enjoyable. Once the reveal had been made, watching the queen/princessâs forgiveness arc left me feeling a little empty and maybe confused. I wanted more from it because it felt like something was left out or forgotten. I donât know what exactly, but after taking forever for her to learn the truth and then this weird way of working through her forgiveness, something was missing. Or maybe I was just so fatigued by then from watching episode after episode of her not knowing the truth that by time the story changed, I was more hopeful.
I think the story would have also done a bit better with the villain (villains?) story a bit more simplified and introduced earlier on. By time we learn the truth of the real villain, it seems like it was just an afterthought.
All of that being said, I really did love the show overall, and considerably more than I expected to. The ML was excellent and now I am actively seeking out other shows he has been in.
The Princess and the Werewolf is definitely worth your time if youâre looking for something mindless but that still has a really sweet love story.

Good drama if you love main leads â€ïž
I'm truly a big fan of drama especially Korea, so i just give overview, firstly it's interesting at the beginning but after 15 episodes you will find it a little bit annoying and just a waste of time. for me last 5 episode was boring so i skipped almost all 5 episodes đđđ(it's just my. view)
Also support characters are good especially maids of princess and Kui Mulan
Devils are a stupid i think
especially when they defeated by main leads
good point i love female lead when they have power, i think Princess Qi Pa just did what she wanted and said what she wanted, i look forward to her next dramas ( I've already fallen in love with Kui Mulan)

Xianxia, Fantasy or Modern China? The use of Modern terminology at times is just WOW
This drama is an okay watch if you have nothing to watch but it's not top tier in my honest opinion.I do like the Male actor (Chen Zhe Yuan) though as I've seen him played in Hidden Love previously and I love his character in that drama too. In this drama though, he played as two identities, where the day he's under the identity as Li Xiong, and the night he is under his identity as Kui Mu Lang, which the latter is his real identity as the Lord(king) to the Beast Clan.
In terms of romance, 95% it feels unrequited from Kui Mu Lang side because 95% the FL (Qi Pa) did not know about his real identity as she puts Li Xiong and Kui Mu Lang as completely 2 different people. She's in "love" with the handsome Li Xiong at first because she didn't like Kui Mu Lang since his appearance scares her. That's a minus appeal for me because she can show me that she can open her heart to everyone else in the Beast Clan without prejudice, yet she can't do the same for Kui Mu Lang, that even when she knows how he never treated her badly and that she knows that Kui Mu Lang let's her do what she wants, she still have that prejudice against him where her heart is closed off from giving him a fair chance to win her over.
It got annoying to the point I wanted Kui Mu Lang just to let her go back to her own world (Da Xia) and maybe then we will get some sort of developments for the main pairing.
In the romance I always felt that it is Kui Mu Lang doing the pursuing on her but she doesn't appreciate it on her end(at first) where I cannot count how many times I felt sorry for Kui Mu Lang when she said hurtful words towards him like she said she won't ever fall in love with him, yet she fell in love with the handsome Li Xiong(the him in his day form). This is why I wish it was done differently in this drama where she came to love Kui Mu Lang first but oh well.
For me personally I love both his identities no matter if it's Li Xiong or Kui Mu Lang, but 95% of the times I do feel sorry for how one sided the romance is because Qi Pa cannot accept Kui Mu Lang at first.
The only time I felt she actually gave Kui Mu Lang a chance was when she was blind where she rely on Kui Mu Lang to take care of her.
Well, in the end, Qi Pa did have her own developments where she showed me that in the end she love both Kui Mu Lang and Li Xiong as one identity so that was good....
But overall I felt like everything just gets rushed in the final few episodes didn't make it to a satisfactory level for me to love this pairing on my end. So I didn't really fangirl over this pair when compared to some of the pairings in other dramas I've come to love.
I'm not going to make it a long review like I normally do with the other dramas so, to sum up my feelings to this drama is, yeah it does sorta give that beauty and the beast vibe but there are differences. The actress(Wu Xuan Yi) did play her role decently enough I'll give her that even when I'm not really a fan of her character Qi Pa. 95% of the story, Qi Pa didn't know that KML and LX is the same person not because she never thought about it but it's because(and she said it), she didn't want to think they are the same person, which I find it sad and disappointing and put further emphasis on my point why I wish she would give KML a fair chance and not have that prejudice against him at first . Well she got her developments and was able to show me she love KML in the end, so my final verdict to this drama:
** Is this drama recommendable? Well, If you have nothing to watch, you can watch this drama to pass your time. But don't expect a top tier romance and story, because it's not IMO
** Rewatch value: I don't have the urge to rewatch this drama again but I suddenly have the urge to watch Hidden Love again. Now that drama (Hidden Love) is better than this one at least.
** I was originally going to give this drama a 6(overall) but after watching the ending, I bump up the score to 7 in the overall.
** There are other pairings in this drama that gets their happy ending, so if you don't like the main pairing you can enjoy it for the side pairings.
Oh yes, what I mean by that title? Well to be honest, I thought the setting was Xianxia and set in Ancient China but there are like a few words spoken here and there that felt very modern like... And the ending scene where they are dressed in modern clothes made me go "???" So this story is pretty random with the use of modern terminology LOL
And with that said, I'll end my review here!

The Princess, the Hot Werewolf and their Strange Kingdoms.
This series had some fun moments and a cast that played well off of each other. However, if you look beyond the surface thereâs not much to this series. The premise was strong. A king from a beastly kingdom needs a princess from a human kingdom to save his life and subsequently his people, with the requirement of love between the savior and the one to be saved being included in this very clichĂ© story setup. For this reason, the beastly king kidnaps the princess and off the story goesâŠwell sort of.The show spends a lot of time setting up the relationship between Qi Pan and Kui Mu Lang, but not much else. We only see Qi Paâs kingdom very briefly before she is kidnapped and thereâs no insight into how the kingdom works who is on the royal court? Is there a royal court? Who are Qi Paâs friends etc. We see her parents who of course want her to find her soulmate and thatâs it. After she is kidnapped we donât see how her kingdom is dealing with the kidnapping of their princess, only the royal guard looking for her when it becomes convenient to the story.
In the Beast kingdom, we do learn why many, not all, have beastly features, but beyond that, no insight into the inner workings of the monarch and the society it serves. Kui Mu Lang, the king, only has one right hand man and apparently no royal guards as people can access the palace grounds and the king (and Queenâs) quarters at will, to do nefarious things. Kui Mu Lang had powers but apparently no one else in the kingdom did. This was never explained. Did he have powers because he was the king? Or did he have powers because it was convenient to the story? Additionally, there were individuals who tried to kill the king numerous times, but when caught received a punishment of planting trees, copying the laws of the kingdom numerous times or no punishment at all. Odd.
Moreover, though the beastly city appears to be your typical Chinese kingdom, Daxia which is Qi Paâs home seems to be a mix of modern experiences and historic Chinese customs. For Qi Pa mentions haute couture, makeup sets, high heels, having jet lag etc. while still dressing, for the most part, like a princess from the 16th century. Very strange. Additionally, when the audience did see the palace grounds for Qi Paâs home, there was no one around. Just her and a couple characters, who seemed to only be around to prop her relationship with Kui Mu Lang. When she returned after going missing, there were no scenes of her reuniting with her family and when she decided to return to the beast kingdom, she did not inform anyone, but left her kingdom without a word.
There were a couple of antagonists in this series, Kui Mu Langâs brother (Jing Mu) and some mystery man. Both spent the series failing at their nefarious schemes while Jing Mu whined like a 2-year old about no one paying attention to him. The endgame of their nefarious schemes wasnât revealed until the last episode and even when revealed it still made little sense considering the mysterious man spent most the series mustache twirling and vowing to make Kui Mu Lang pay while Jing Mu whined.
Despite the storyline and world building for this series making absolutely no sense, the actors did the best they could with the material and seemed to have fun. Chen Zhe Yuan was pretty hot and looked good with Wu Xuan Yi. All of the couples had nice chemistry and worked well. With the leads being most interesting together when Qi Pa was interacting with Kui Mu Lang in his wolf/beast form. The series had a few really good scenes. Specifically, when Qi Pa and beastly Kui Mu Lang were arguing or angsty and there were some scenes that were funny. However, overall, the story was a disaster and execution just okay. Would I watch this again, nope. But I wouldnât say it was a complete waste of 30 hours due to the actors being fairly charismatic which made the series, at times, entertaining.

It's making me cringe watching each episode
I honestly did not have high hopes the storyline of this drama will got me hooked, but I tried to watched it anyway, cause I don't wanna passed on Chen Zhe Yuan acting. However, I think after 19 episodes, there is no improvement and prositive development in the storyline, It's getting very boring to the point that it's embarassing for me to watch and ridicilous after each episodes. The reason I give high scores for acting is purely because Chen Zhe Yuan superb acting skill, If it isn't because of his extraordinary acting skill I don't know how he was able to delivered through the many cheezy and cringe scenes in this drama. I find the FL acting annoying I t hink she needs to take on more acting lessons, I'm embarassed and annoyed seeing her acting, especially in crying scenes. I'm getting cringe all over.
I probably skip watching the rest of the episodes and watch only the finale out of curiousity of it's ending. This drama is definitely have no re-watch value. It is beyond me why Chen Zhe Yan or his agency took on this project,
