New Characters, Games, Twists & POV - But No Progress in Storyline | Filler Season
With all the marketing hype around Season 2, I wondered if it was truly remarkable or just overhyped due to a lack of substantial plot. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the latter, feeling more like a bridge to Season 3. As a die-hard fan since Season 1, I eagerly anticipated Season 2 for its deeper story and new character journeys. While it had binge-worthy moments, it ultimately left me feeling a bit cheated, as it answered no questions and the story didn't progress as expected for a sequel. What I Liked in S2
➥ Biggest Thrill: Discovering Player 001 (no spoilers, but it's an early twist and the best one!).
➥ Overall Games/Thrills & Suspense: Maintains the same intensity as Season 1.
➥ New Characters: Offers glimpses into the Pink Soldiers, Front Man, and Recruiter's perspectives. Wi Ha Joon's police character reveals the game's ecosystem is larger than expected.
➥ Relationships: Explores the dynamics of being pitted against family, friends, and lovers in a survival game, highlighting how humanity can deteriorate under pressure.
➥ Best Character: Park Sung Hoon's portrayal of an ex-army man/trans woman is compelling. His character arc and acting are excellent, and the off-game challenges faced by a trans woman are well depicted. Also, kudos to mother/son characters - done well!
What I Disliked:
➥ Lack of Answers: No insights on why the game started, how soldiers are selected, or why Front Man joined. We only get glimpses of their backstories and therefore the story has not made any substantial progress.
➥ Under-utilized Characters: Too many characters, but none leave a strong impression. Big names like Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, and Wi Ha Joon feel underused. Perhaps they’ll have bigger roles in Season 3, but this season lacked enough development time for them.
➥ Non-sensical Antagonists: TOP and Noh Jae Won, and other players who take the role of antagonists felt underused again. Their role seemed more comedic than having the negative aura something that S1 antagonists carried out very well.
Overall:
I really hope the next season provides answers and better utilizes the characters. This one seemed directionless, produced mainly to capitalize on the hype and global sensation the show has become. Even the characters' plans in the show felt futile. While I love the show, its brand, and marketing, a compelling story is crucial for it to succeed and for me to like and rate it higher.

Such a letdown
After the high that was season 1, I had high expectations for this. Sure, they really didn't need to continue the story, as Season 1 was perfect, but it had to be good right? I found myself just bored throughout the entirety of season 2. The games were less fun, the group of players were no where as interesting as the original, and It just felt like "been here, seen this".What made the original season so great was the tension and desperation through the games, but that is all lacking here this time around.

A very good setup for what's to come
Just finished S2 and wanted to write my thoughts on it:While not as good as S1, it had its brilliant moments too;
like the frontman actively manipulating everyone and coming out on top
Gi Hun failing to do anything even with all of that money and previous knowledge of the games
frontman's brother always being a step behind
new games that were entertaining to watch
representing an LGBT character in a way that feels natural and not forced at all, I really wanna give them props for that cuz in western media currently there is a wave of LGBT representation in movies, games and dramas which is great, the issue is that they almost always feels forced, and the characters are always defined just by their sexuality and never by who they are as a person and in S2 they did a fantastic job of creating a character that felt believable and in no way forced.
they also made Gi Hun's growth believable, usually in sequels they make the main character too much OOC, and it always feels unnatural and messes with the continuity of the story but in S2 Gi Hun and what he did with the money matches the level of intelligence he had in S1, they didn’t suddenly make him a genius, he was still a too trusting idiot that is now a little more prepared by everything he's seen in S1 and the money of course.
Criticisms: I don't have much to criticize cuz the story has yet to be finished, so I reserve judgment after I see what ending they wanna do for the whole series, as far as I'm concerned S2 did an admirable job of setting up several story lines with a major confrontation to come, so I have a lot to look forward to.
I've seen a lot of people complain and criticize S2 and compare it to S1 unfairly, and I find that to be quite premature cuz S1 had a complete and finished story to tell with a big confrontation and a major twist, it also had the 1 on 1 game that gave us the most character developments while in S2 we haven't reached that far and only have half of the story and that half is mostly setting up the climax for S3 so of course it's not gonna be as good as S1.
I'll give it a solid 8/10.

a decent serie
this is not bad but also not great, what doesnt help is that most people have high expectation because of season 1 so ngl season 1 captivated me since the first ep, while for this one it took me time but it is not unwatchableif i have to pick best and worse eps it will be like this
not good eps : ep 1-2-7
the rest are good eps
the reason for ep 1 and 2 because the scenes were dragging too much with no games at all , the reason for the final ep (ep 7) is the main character, he is really not good at making plans for sure, acting herotic and get lucky to survive all time okay lol
the rest of eps: i enjoyed watching the games , there is one game that i liked the most, when they have to team up as its indicated to survive, i loved the new characters : Min Su is a cutie i better see him in season 3, they kinda did the cop (Jun Ho) dirty because that man is so fine the role in this season didnt give him justice lol, Thanos character is fun i know some people say he is overacting but he is supposed to be like that i mean look at the pills he takes it make sense to me lol, i also liked Myeong Gi and Hyeon Ju characters
compared to season 1 this is a bit less gory and we dont lose a lot of main characters
now, looking forward to season 3 ^^

season 2 was quite unnecessary and quite disappointing
everything was almost the same, it felt like wasting this expensive cast,it was only fun because the games are more interesting and more entertaining than before, the screentime of many cast was so low since they are quite demanding in kdrama industry, the main mc felt really annoying and was foolish didn't make any scene, the girl with many piercing was literally the fl of heartbeat but what's wrong with casting, the cast deserved more screen time and it wasn't justified because of their fame.. it didn't feel me feel intense of suspense like the s1 didVond je deze recentie nuttig?
Money Heist 3 Korea Vibin'
/ It had its jumpstart moments to hype its return and for the mind games that 001 and 456 had played out (very much like Money Heist Korea Seasons 1 and 2 in that sense). But the pump of adrenaline or oomfph was unlikely similar./ Just felt like they could have solidified the rummaging issues of capitalism and oppression of human nature further, though.
/ They guested potential characters for the buck, I guess.
/ Lastly, fuck capitalism. We'll see how this plays out next year then.

...Bit frustrating at few points but it's alright.
I'll make it short and to the point. Even if they decided to release s2, i guess it was worth it, the story is good for revenge, but all of this mess should have ended in this season. I enjoyed watching this but imo s1 was damn good as this season, also first 2 episodes were really good, i mean the perfect starting...but it got a lil boring by mid episodes. Few deaths by the last episodes were really frustrating and not good but on the other hand few deaths were satisfying 😂😭. And if you ask me to say if it's worth watching, it is if you have watched s1 obviously. I mean it's NOT MUCH frustrating..it's okay, not good not bad...the wait was worth it but they could have ended in a better way. Loved the acting and cast. Episode 7 was not boring it was really good for me but the ending is neither satisfying nor bad bcz they gonna release s3, i never thought it would end like this but anyways, overall, it's good. At some points it was boring but at the end and beginning it was really good. You can give it a try atleast.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Precursor to the final season
I will start off by saying the cast was great and it was fun to go back into the story. I enjoyed seeing how they expanded the world.Overall this season felt like a precursor to the final one. In the end my friends and I found ourselves saying, "Oh, that's it. Alright well..." One of my friends voiced that they should have released this season and the 3rd season as one season in two parts and I agree. It feels to long of a time.
I will save my opinions on the ending since I don't want spoilers on this review.
I would recommend going into the show with no expectations. With that I feel as though you can enjoy the show more. Or better yet, waiting until the next season drops next year.

Did I like it?? Yes...Maybe...
First things first season 2 did not come up to the level of season 1..season 1 was wayyyyy good it created a global impact!!did season 2 live upto the expectations od season 1?? No it did not...It is definitely a good watch setting up the atmosphere for season 3.The cast was definitely expensive 🙃 and refreshing, everyone did play thier role well. The story in itself was all over the place, it was squid game at one point then it became money heist...lol... I thought if the games are same won't it be boring??but season 2 had new games it was refreshing. The cinematography, background score like last time is soo good.
Squid game season 2 is a very good watch if you liked season 1 you will definitely like season 2. Do give it a watch.

Like okay.
Loved season 1 so I was really excited to hear a season 2 was releasing! And well, I'm less excited for a season 3. The plot started good, I loved the first episode. I thought it was really interesting to see how Gi-hun was after the first seasons events, and I really loved Gong-yoo's character. Like he's so much more unhinged this season, it was awesome. I won't lie, the boat plotline bored me a little. Like i'd sigh a bit every time we switched over to that. I get that it was important to the overall storyline, but it just felt as though there was nothing actually happening, until the very end. I was happy that there were different games than last season, and the characters were great! I really thought the acting was far better this season! It just all felt really incomplete by the end. I mean obviously it's setting up for a third season, but nothing really came full circle at all. It was all just kind of heated chaos by the end. Pointless violence, deaths that dragged on a bit in the end. Gi-hun was killing me with how trusting he was as well. I thought maybe after player 001 from last season, he'd be a bit less gullible. Overall it wasn't a bad watch, I'll still watch season 3 when it comes out. Acting and budget wise, it's a great step up from last season. Jo yuri and Im siwan so! Can't really complain xxVond je deze recentie nuttig?

Was it really worth waiting 3 years?
No, but don't misunderstand me was it bad no was it super good no it was a bit in between. Although season 1 was super good, season 2 could really take an example. They were better off ditching the old cast completely. Don't get me wrong the new cast is good too. we have for example; a pregnant woman, old lady, mother and son,... but they could still bring in a new cast to play new games. there were a total of 3 games of which we already knew 1 (green light, red light) and 2 new games (Mingle) and (Six-Legged Pentathlon) if you ask me which game I liked best, I would say the Six-Legged Pentathlon was the most fun. because Mingle's sound already gave me a bad feeling. what had a major disadvantage was that there were so few new games. The entire first season featured six deadly games in nine episodes, while season 2 featured three deadly games in 7 episodes. The first was a repetition which I found very long-winded. each episode lasts about an hour which I thought was okay. I was able to watch this series in one day. I still advise you to watch these 7 episodes because there will be a season 3. Hopefully we don't have to wait 3 years for that. Thank you for reading this far and I hope I was able to help you.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
