“Mr. Cinderella”
So why do I saw what I say with the title? The male lead is the one who’s pulled from the countryside into a lavish lifestyle. It seems like the happy ending in other kdramas. Where typically the girl is the poor one and swept away to a rich life to life with a chaebol.. I’m thinking boys over flowers. This drama starts where those ends, and it’s brilliant. What would their lives be outside of the ending? Likely this would happen.
I’m saying when Jan Di married Gyun Pyo at the end of Boys Over Flowes. Hyun Woo is Jan Di, the poorer one who is thrust into a new life and Hae In is Gyun Pyo, who despite all odds, loves someone that is a ‘nobody’ in terms of status. Gyun Pyro and Jan Di just get engaged at the end (sorry for spoilers), but in this one it’s the life of the two being married. It’s honestly hilarious and makes a lot of sense why Hyun Woo wants a divorce. As I could see that if there were a prequel that it would be something like Boys Over Flower.. now not that toxic, but to a degree. I doubt the writers thought of that connection, but to me it stands. It’s like a more mature version of a ‘happily ever after’ with a rich chaebol lifestyle. Instead it’s not all glitter and sparkles, and is more wanting your old life back because you can’t keep up with this one. I mean come on now, that’s so smart and I’ve always wanted to see what a happily ever after is like- and if it’s this? I’m here for the ride for this one.
The chaebol gets their humbling with a death experience, which I’m so surprised they had the balls to do.. and hopefully it doesn’t just get magically swept away. I’m looking for angst, for heart, a dramedy. This drama is gold when it comes to the humor. There isn’t a shying away from how hot are leads are, and how over the top the situation is. This drama is so much better than others have been giving it credit for. Yes. It’s hyped, but it’s also very smart and deserving of that.
I’ll keep this short since pretty much everything that needs to be said about this drama has been. I’ll say that I was reluctant to watch at first, as I’m watching a lot and sometimes dramas tend to be overhyped. It can go wrong pretty easily if the cast is so well, the writing may have been lacking. It’s done more than usual, where a cast is so good that it seems the writing and the direction is missed. Yet this drama seems to fill every gap in terms of the story, acting, direction, it’s well rounded and chalk full of entertainment value.
I didn’t know the story coming in, I thought it would be a romantic comedy, a bit melodramatic. It is entirely that, yet it’s multi leveled and has 3-dimensional characters coming from all ends of the story. The main leads, the second leads, the supporting cast- it’s all so rich (literally and non literal). What I was surprised with this is that the comedy is actually a strong asset with this story, I love when a drama doesn’t take itself too seriously. I also knew that Kim Ji Won was a funny actress, multitalented and ready to play the character she is. I love it when no one else I can see fit to play this role.
So nothing in this drama pulls anything down. The comedy doesn’t make it awkward, the drama doesn’t make it too serious, it’s got balance.
Kim Soo Hyun is an actor I know is really good. Also I’ve only seen him in one movie, so I wasn’t too biased. He is worth all the praise. He’s a professional and you can tell that everyone here knows there role and can enhance and improvise and add here in there. Without the leads it likely wouldn’t be as good, but still, it’s got a great direction that I can see coming from an actors initiate as well as the directing itself.
I love the whole gender reverse of the women leading the house-hold.. seeing the men get pushed to the kitchen.
It’s a lot more refreshing than I thought it would be. What is also refreshing is the leads dynamic, that so far is very witty and fun. They once loved eachother and definitely still do, yet Hyun- Woo is so tired at this point he wants a way out. Not one character is the evil and super bad guy, and I’m liking that a lot, the second male lead I could see to get to be annoying if he is too bad of a guy just for the sake of story. So far even Hae-In is likeable even if her husband isn’t too fond of her.. still I find so much room to grow with the two of them. They did fall in love, and she did choose to marry him.
I do find the latter half of the season to not be as strong, but the chemistry between the leads is amazing enough to pull me through the emf of this drama. Especially the visuals. It isn’t perfect, but there is smart writing going on here that it looks like people have missed. Too bad in the last half the writing isn’t like the first. Either way this drama still exceeds beyond most others I have seen this year.

Masterful Storytelling - Not a crier until this one!
I'm honestly don't understand the comments that say this drama was overhyped. Sure, did it have some tropes? Yes. And at times, I thought it was too tragic (like Hyun-Woo's car accident was uneccessary. The kidnapping was enough!) However, I thought that this was a well told story. I thought the writing and the pacing were done well, the ending didn't feel rushed. It felt like a really raw and honest story. Casting was perfect (KSH and KJW did amazing! So did PSH - i hated his character so much), music was good and well placed, and beautiful cinematography. We got to see what happens when people miscommunicate, how feelings can get skewed, examples of good love vs unhealthy obsession and the need to be open. I think all the characters had well-written and believable character development. We got plenty of romance, tension, laughs, annoyance (ALL the feels) throughout. I don't feel like there were any plot holes or filler scenes. Everything about the way this story was told was engaging to me. I really loved it. I have never really cried while watching dramas, but I was definitely crying with everyone else in this one (How dare they call this a rom com! lol).Loved it! Would recommend, but I don't think I could watch it again ( even though I know how it ends I don't think I could go through that again lol!)

Must watch!
Both my husband and I watched this drama together and we loved it. We thought that it will be a romantic comedy, but we were wrong. It was a lot of angst and a little bit of comedy only. The acting especially KSH acting is top notch. I cried almost every episode and I empathize thoroughly with all the characters.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Just Something Else...
I already miss this show soooo much after finishing it 3 hours ago... i literally loved EVERYTHING...from the cast and the music ,to the story and the intrigue. My heart fluttered from the family time , it ached from crying , it twinkled from the chemistry and it stopped from the thriller. I loved everyone's acting, especially Kim Soo Hyun's ,Kim Ji Won's, Park Sung Hoon's,Lee Mi Sook's, Kim Jung Nan's, Kim Joo Ryung's, Kim Gab Soo's, Na Young Hee's, Kwak Dong Yeon's ,Jeon Bae Soo's, Hwang Young Hee's, Lee Joo Bin's... Bruh, did i LITERALLY write everyone here???I was thinking of writing a few but i couldn't stop writing the actors' names. The songs Love You With All My Heart and The Reasons Of My Smiles were reallyyy good especially LYWAMH. But wait...i forgot to describe KSH, KJW, LMS, and KJN's actings : KSH was amazing,i am speechless . He could cry at any moment and he portrayed his character so well. KJW was amazing too,she could also cry whenever she wanted +she was so like IU's character in Hotel Del Luna, a seemingly emotionless person, with a broken heart of gold, and she played that character PERFECTLY ,and she was GORGEOUS ! I AM LEFT SPEECHLESS FOR LMS...She was PERFECT AND PHENOMENAL...She scared me sooo much ,because of how good she portrayed her role. Finally, KJN, was Just as good as the three i mentioned( i don't have anymore adjectives to use on her lol),she just ROCKED it though. She played a caring and loving character who wanted her entire family to reunite and reconcile and she loved them with all her heart. Just thanks,KJN for your acting...Of course, the cinematography ,writing were so good .Thank you so much Park Ji Eun for a new drama that enlightened us!!!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

One of the best kdrama in 2024
I don’t know even when to start about this show wow wow wow. It has surpassed all of my expectations and more this is one of the best kdramas out there and I see why it has surpassed my other favorite show crash landing on you.Queens of tears is just at show it’s so wholesome and raw and really. It showed how we fall in love and how lack of communication and misunderstandings can ruin something so beautiful. I have never cried like I have with this show episode after episode until the end but you know what it was worth it cause the show was just that beautiful and more.
I really like the actress that played Hong Hae In she was the perfect choice for this role she killed it and I’m so glad I got to see her again cause I loved her in the Heirs she played Rachel so good. When I saw her play this role in Queen of tears it was amazing she deserves all the recognition and respect cause she did a spectacular job at this role.
The love story of Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In was amazing to watch the ups and downs of their relationship and more was a great show but I can’t for Yoon Eun Sung wow I really don’t like him and what he did in the show but I will say Park Sung Hoon really played that role well cause we didn’t like his character at all hahah he deserves an award for best supporting actor cause he really played it well the villain.
Overall I can say this Queen Of Tears is a must watch it and yes it’s worth all the hype that it is getting cause it’s that good and it’s the best drama and waiting for the special 2 episodes!!!

Never had a Kdrama left me so happy and so sad at the same time!
the Kdrama "Queen of Tears" truly touched my heart, bringing forth a mix of joy and sadness. It beautifully depicts the importance of cherishing loved ones, fostering family unity, sharing moments of laughter, tears, meals, love, and togetherness. Despite time passing quickly, the series delivers a powerful message about finding happiness in life's fleeting moments. I am genuinely thankful for the profound impact this show has had on me.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

What an emotional ride!
This drama sets a perfect example and raises the bar so high. It's crazy how this drama was full of clichés but executed them perfectly. I didn't even realize each episode was a whole 1 hour and 30 minutes long—basically a whole movie each time. It made me realize I could get that emotional over just a drama; every little conversation they had made me tear up. I could sympathize with every character in this drama, whether they were evil or good. All the characters were well-developed, and it was hard to hate even the evil ones like Eun Seong, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him—it's not his fault that he was raised that way. I loved how they portrayed the imperfect but perfect love stories between all the characters, especially our main ones, their love was tested over and over. This drama is so well-made that I could watch it over and over and never get tired of it. I could write a whole essay detailing how every little thing about this drama was well-made, but I'll leave that for you all to experience firsthand!

Overwhelmingly good
There is only one word that can describe it: overwhelming.I have only been twice overwhelmed by tears to the point of suffocation by Korean dramas, the first time was not a good one as it was too cruel, however..
This drama is on a new level, i have never expirienced something so amazing on a screen before, i mean i knew this screen writer was very good but i have no idea how she manages to outdo herself every time..
any way, this was the best drama i have ever expirienced hands down, and aside from a few overly dramatic scenes that are borderline sci-fi, this was a perfectly flawless K-drama that might be a once in a lifetime expirience.

Absolutely mindblowing acting
Loved, loved LOVEDDD! I normally don't leave reviews but I had to for this masterpiece. Every episode made me laugh and every episode made me cry. From the story line to the acting everything was amazing. I didn't know which plot twist would hit me next, the changes in micro-expressions of the actors drew me in. I felt like I was there with them, feeling what they felt.. When I though there would be cliche misunderstanding tropes, they proved me wrong time and time again. The resilience and trust the characters had in each other was mind blowing. I would rewatch this just for the heartwarming and cute moments but the ones that made me cry were the cherry on top. The build up to the ending was soo good. I did not expect the outcome of the villains to be like that but some things were a tad bit unrealistic which is okay because who doesn't love the protagonist halo. All in all 10/10. Its a MUST watch.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
THE BEST DRAMA OF 2024
Kim Hee Won and Park Ji Eun have done it again; they have brought the best K-drama of the year so far. So, let's break it down to see why I consider it the best K-drama of 2024.THE STORY:
When this drama was announced, it had an interesting premise, but not enough to catch my attention. I admit that what initially drew me to watch this series was the cast, as the story seemed somewhat cliché but intriguing enough to start. AND I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG. The way they've handled this story is simply masterful; they've turned what seemed like a cliché plot into an award-worthy tale. First off, they've taken all the clichés and turned them on their heads. In this drama, it's the female lead who always maintains composure, seemingly not showing much emotion until later on. Conversely, the male lead is the one who cries the most, who expresses his feelings the most, and who appears most sensitive, and that's something I've loved. It's true that this story may not appeal to everyone, and coupled with the length of its episodes, it might become somewhat tedious for some people, but I highly recommend it.
CHARACTERS AND COUPLES:
Let's start by discussing the main couple. I've read in some places that they didn't have much chemistry, but for me, it's been quite the opposite. In every scene, you can feel the tension and the love they have for each other but are unable to express. I think both protagonists are well-developed, with interesting backgrounds that will make more sense as the series progresses. The secondary couples in this series are among the best; the way their relationships progress, their performances, and the way they express emotions make the series even better. And lastly, the villain; few K-drama villains have managed to infuriate me as much as the one in this series. Seriously, you're going to be stressed out and you're going to suffer watching what this villain does.
OST:
One of the best OSTs I've heard within the world of K-dramas. I've seen many dramas, and few OSTs are as good as those of this series. They even make me want to buy the physical edition. Nothing more to add, 10/10.
CINEMATOGRAPHY:
This drama is beautifully directed. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this is the case in this series. It has incredibly beautiful scenes, with a color palette that changes throughout the series depending on the situation our protagonists find themselves in.
CONCLUSION:
I would recommend this series to anyone looking for a drama to shed tears, to be moved alongside the characters, and to enjoy it for a few days without binge-watching it since the episodes are long.
If you've made it this far, thank you very much for reading, and I hope you can enjoy this series as much as I did.
