I laugh many times watching both shows. The level of comedy is just awesome.
Both have charming characters and both dramas are character-driven.
They both covers coming of age stories, their daily life's ups and downs.
Both are set in 1980s Korea, and the shows are doing a superb job in building this oldie antique vibes.
The difference: Boyhood has a bullying trope and focus only on youths relationships. Reply 1988 focus more on family relationships

School setting. Delinquents . Few Fights . Good Comedy.
Both have very similar vibes, however the main plot is slightly differently. (In one series one disguises intentionally and in the other it happens accidentally in the beginning).
Very likely who enjoyed the one would enjoy other as well.
Note Korean series is emotional and seems to have melodrama.

A boy who pretends to be this well known delinquent, but in reality he cannot fight. He is a loser who was constantly bullied and beat up. They both similar because both main characters pretend to be delinquents or tough fighters. It is also similar because both of these are very comedic school fighting dramas.
