The usual tropes with a slight twist
This drama turned out a little better than the boring, run-of-the-mill productions of 2024 .It had all the usual tropes of k dramas - orphanage, mother issues, unlikely match, contract marriage etc, yet it overcame those tropes with a coming of age spin.
The comedy - it was spot on¡! The second ML and his secretary were fantastic and they kept the drama going.
The Romances - there were 3 couples. The 2nd couple had a fun spin and it was interesting enough.
The 3rd couple had a new age and thought provoking relationship which came as a pleasant surprise.
This is actually what we , as non regional viewers were attracted to in the first place, the delicate handling of new age situations, but in 2024 only boring romances were made.
Now the 1st couple- I adore both the leads separately but they were totally mismatched as a pair.
When put together, she makes him look younger and he makes her look older - which is all irrelevant because love transcends age - but when the chemistry is lacking, then nothing works.
So yes, it was a 12 episode short fun run with the expected need to forward some clichéd nonsense.

fall in love with the drama
I don’t usually write reviews, but I love No Gain No Love so much that I had to share my thoughts. I started watching this drama because I’m a huge fan of the lead actress from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, which is one of my favorite dramas. Now, after watching No Gain No Love, I can confidently say it has captured my heart just as much. From the very beginning, I was captivated, and my love for this drama only grew with each episode. The last episode is a rollercoaster of emotions—you’ll feel sad at first, but the ending leaves you with a sense of warmth and comfort. And then, like me, you might end up feeling a bit lonely once it’s over because you’ll miss the characters and the beautiful story.
I highly recommend this drama. If you’re looking for something heartfelt, just go for it—you won’t regret it. I hope you have as much of an amazing time watching it as I did.

the best romantic comedy!
the best romantic comedy! from chapters 1 to 11 it was too wonderful, a light, pleasant, funny and romantic plot, in the last one the screenwriter completely defecated, and was disrespectful by inserting many more scenes of the secondary couple than of the main couple, I wanted to see more scenes and romance the main couple and not the secondary couple! But the screenwriter totally underestimated the main couple by giving them seconds of scenes together in the last episode, it was very cruel, I was outraged!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
A pleasant suprise!!
I started this drama after seeing a tweet about the secomd leads not knowing what to expect. Normally the ml isjt my cup of tea but he proved me wrong in this drama. NGNL was the perfect romcom for me. All the characters have chemistry with each other( both leads and other side character). I love how the writer showed the fl dynamics with her sisters and how all the sisters had their all forms of romance going for them in a non cliche manner. The comedy within the show was top tier too as it never felt forceful. The drama just felt natural, as well as the direction in which the plot unravelled. It had some angsty scenes that werent over the top. The osts>>>>
All the actors carried. There were a few low moments but nothin extree that takes away from the good parts
I reminds me of Lovely runner in the same way TVN barely did promos for it because they thought it wouldnt do well.

It had everything to be one of the best series of 2024!
It had everything to be one of the best series of 2024! But in the last episode they had to disrespect the viewer and especially the main couple, I started the series because of the main couple, in the last episode I just wanted to see more romantic scenes from the main couple and the scriptwriter screwed up in the last episode, filling the last episode with scenes of the secondary couple, I hated it, they gave practically 3 seconds of the main couple in the last chapter! A screenwriter like that should be boycotted! I was so in love with the main couple together, their incredible chemistry, I'm very angry with the last chapter!-----------------

Worth the Watch
I won't go into any details except to say the pairing of the FL and ML was perfect! The comedic timing was perfect! The acting was perfect! Don't miss this drama! It is one of the best, uncomplicated series I have ever watched. No one will be disappointed in this May-December romantic comedy. The pacing of each episode was just enough to grasp the storyline and still want to watch it again while waiting for the next one. As I said, I'm giving no details; so, watch NGNL for yourselves and be thoroughly enamored with the lead characters.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Oh this is actually really great - wish I had skipped the spoilers and episode guide
This is a complex story about fictive kinship and found families and the limits of monogamy and nuclear families. Basically, everyone has more than one love interest and multiple families. The love interests are not love triangles but more explorations of what it means to be in love with two people simultaneously. It is most explicit with the sister in an open relationship. I actually thought this plotline was well done and thought provoking. Fathers are often shown with multiple lovers, as in this show, but what about mothers? The show further plays with who is the male and female leads as a result, which many found off-putting. But if you watch through the lens of this is a show about the love stories of two competing brothers who are both male leads and a set of sisters it makes complete sense. If you further consider the lens that each person has competing families and is probing who is inside and outside their family it is also quite compelling. It was impossible not to read any spoilers but the episode guide on MyDramaList is especially misleading. Some of the early episodes are just laugh out loud funny, I dare you to find better deadpan humor, especially between Kim Young Dae and Shin Min Ah. But I actually really enjoyed the plot in Episodes 9-12. It kept me guessing, in suspense up to the very last moment. Given the extreme backstories of the characters as foster children, it would have been too saccharine to not have some tension and true challenges. The moment where they put up a new list of chief mourners is so profound and brings together the theme on the meaning of family so well. I found the ending very satisfying. I thought the break up was justified and very sweet and generous on the part of Shin Min Ah's character. There needed to be space and healing for their relationship to proceed. If anything, I would have enjoyed an additional episode during the breakup to learn more about Son Hae Young's new company rather than a passing overview with her innovative ideas dumbed down with a cutesy pitch.
What I did not like at all and why I assume this show is on Amazon Prime and not Netflix was the cigarette placements with a full storyline and the corporate anti-child abuse program. Media is too powerful and cancer and addiction too pernicious to make smoking seem glamorous to young viewers. The part about documenting child abuse with strangers taking photos was also just absurd and inappropriate, even if the end result was a positive for the child.
Go Wook as An U Jae was a stand out for me, every scene with him sizzled and plumbed the depths of the theme I mentioned on "can you love more than one person at the same time." I assume that Han Ji Hyun will be the one who goes on to have the biggest career, she just completely takes over in her role as a writer, with a two episode spin off to prove it.
So, assuming you have made the mistake of reading too many reviews, try to get inside the playful world of overlapping love and multiple families and see if it works better for you as a unique and creative drama.

No Gain No Love is a heartwarming Korean Drama
No Gain, No Love is a heartwarming Korean drama that explores the dynamics of love, personal growth, and sacrifice. The story revolves around individuals who are striving to achieve their goals, only to discover that love, which often comes unexpectedly, can change everything.Plot Overview:
The drama focuses on individuals who seem to live by the motto "no pain, no gain." Each character has a backstory of facing hardships—whether in love, career, or family life—and they’re all navigating difficult circumstances. The central characters meet and interact, often clashing at first, but soon develop bonds through shared struggles. As the title suggests, their journey revolves around the idea that one must put in effort and face adversity to gain something meaningful, particularly in matters of the heart.
Themes:
Romantic Development: The romance is not instant but slow-burning. Characters initially see love as something they don’t have time for or as an obstacle to their goals, but as the series progresses, they learn that love can be a source of strength and growth.
Personal Growth: As each character faces setbacks—whether in business, personal ambitions, or past relationships—they learn the value of persistence, and the drama underscores the idea that success, in life and love, requires both effort and emotional openness.
Balancing Work and Love: A recurring theme is how people prioritize their work over relationships. The show explores how characters learn to balance their ambitions with meaningful personal connections, ultimately highlighting the importance of finding harmony between the two.
Characters:
The characters are diverse, each representing a different aspect of life’s challenges. Some are workaholics, others are struggling with unrequited love, and a few are dealing with family expectations. Despite their differences, they all share the desire to overcome their obstacles and find happiness.
Tone and Style:
The drama has a mix of lighthearted moments and deeper emotional beats. There are plenty of moments of humor, particularly as characters deal with awkward romantic situations or workplace challenges. At the same time, the drama doesn’t shy away from more serious themes, like heartbreak, personal failure, and the effort required to rebuild one’s life.
Conclusion:
Overall, No Gain, No Love delivers a relatable and meaningful storyline, offering a blend of romance, personal development, and the ups and downs that come with pursuing love and happiness. It's a solid choice for fans of heartfelt Korean dramas.

This is a real RomCom
The balance between drama, romance and comedy was on point. It's one of the best dramas of the year. The screenwriters had given us the cutest green flag character.
I never thought that the chemistry between Minah and YoungDae would be so cute and comforting. And the second couple was one of the best things about the drama.
I laughed so hard and cried a lot, but I recommend it. I would love to have a second season.
Added to my comfort drama list.
P.D: Bruno and Chris best characters. That scene in episode 11 was so good.

ROMANTIC COMEDY OF 2024
finished 9.5/10 ?ROMANTIC COMEDY OF THE YEAR
As the saying goes: I was looking for copper and found diamonds.
excellent chemistry of minah and youngdae ✨
He was heavily criticized when the characters were chosen but he was able to silence many mouths ?
script that masterfully mixes comedy, drama and romance... a main couple with a beautiful story, a secondary couple well done and explained
Minor things I would criticize: Hae Yeong's work life wanted something more and not the ex succeeding... a couple more chapters to develop certain things but in general I enjoyed it a lot ?

True definition of a romcom!
I absolutely love this drama. It fulfilled the definition of a romcom very well. The romance from the lead and second couple was absolutely amazing. I loved the buildup of the romantic tension for both couples so much. I especially loved Son Haeyoung (FL) and Kim Jiuk (ML) as a couple. Like the romantic tension between them was so palpable. You could tell just be their eyes that they loved each other. The communication between them is top tier. Also, the transition between their relationship to a real relationship was so seamless. There weren't any weird situations between them when this was happening. I feel like other romcom dramas lacked this.
The comedy part had me laughing so much. I genuinely found the comedic timings in this drama so on point, and the jokes were absolutely gold. My favorite scene had to be in episode 11 towards the end. That scene made me crack up so much. I didn't like the FL's ex that much but he did have some good comedic points so I can't hate him entirely.
I absolutely loved Son Haeyoung as the female lead. She has to be my favorite character in this drama and probably one of my favorite characters ever. I'm so glad Shin Min Ah acted as the FL because I don't think any other actress would've done justice to her character. Son Haeyoung is literally my role model now. She's just such a straightforward FL which is so refreshing. I love that she communicates her feelings to everyone in her life so easily. This might seem like a bad thing but it definitely avoided weird situations in the drama that would have otherwise happened. Also, the fact that the synopsis made her character seem like a selfish person when she was the most caring and selfless. I love how fiercely protective she is of the people she loves. I would love her as my older sister so much. She's also someone who just understands people so well. Just from someone's behavior and the things they say, she can immediately understand their feelings (specifically referring 11 and 12). Also, the way she's always so understanding of Jiuk and genuinely thought of him as family when they had just gotten fake married. I love how she never denied the feelings she's had for him.
I love Kim Jiuk as the ML. He's such a caring and understanding person especially to the FL. I just love how attentive and gentle he is to her. Given all the stuff he went through, it's a miracle he's such an amazing guy. The first few episodes definitely cemented in that he isn't one of those overly possessive and controlling MLs that care only about the FL. Overall, he's just a big softie who's absolutely in love with the FL.
The SFL is an absolutely adorable person. I loved how endearing she is as a person but also isn't afraid to stand up for herself. I absolutely love the bond she has with the FL and loved it even more after episode 11. The SML seemed like a jerk at first but had the best character development. He turned into quite the romantic around the SFL. His relationship with the SFL had so many bumps but at the end, they ended up together. I love how cute they are with each other. The SML turned out be such a gentle, caring, and kind guy, and the SFL needed just that in a partner especially with all that she's been through.
Overall, this drama was really amazing! It exceeded my expectations and went beyond. If you're looking for the perfect drama to make your heart melt at the romantic moments and for your stomach to burst of laughter because of the comedic moments, this is the one.
Sidenote: There are quite a lot of sexual jokes in this drama but they're all handled really well and don't make you cringe. In fact, some of them may make you laugh your heart out.
