???
Watched for Park Seo-Joon.. Storyline flowed well, no evil crazy rivals etc. Uhm Jung Hwa as his FL was unknown to me, they worked their professionalism well, and had good chemistry! Supporting cast also performed well in this mostly lighthearted rom/com. Would definitely recommend!!Edit to fill required # of characters: would be nice to see a part 2 aka spinoff. After so many years… I suppose it wont happen. If anybody decides to create a remake, I highly doubt if anyone as balanced in handsome cuteness and acting performance skills as Park Seo-Joon can do a better job.

Underrated gem!
I can't believe this drama does not have a higher score! For a ten-year-old drama it feels so fresh and modern and was definitely ahead of its time! Park Seo Joon is fantastic in this role and the chemistry between the leads is off the charts. I also found the side characters endearing and while the plot was surprisingly simple and not very high stakes (especially in the second half), somehow it still kept me engaged the whole way through. I enjoyed every episode and of all the noona romance dramas I've watched I think this one has the best romance. I highly recommend trying this drama!Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
One of the best noona drama's!!!
This drama was one of the best drama's I've watched it portrays a female so caught up in work she doesn't have time for romance, due to her lack of romance she doesn't know that right man is in front of her. As the main lead is so caught up with work she doesn't really know how to interact with males romantically, to which her mum sets her on dates to find the one since she is at peak of age. But then comes along Yoon Dong-Ha who annoys her to her core but due to some situations he helps her and end up getting romantically involved in a relationship with her. This drama portrays romantic, steamy and cute scenes very well. As said in the title it's a noona drama so Ban Ji-Yeon is older than Dong-Ha which is frowned upon since the stereotypical people in society which would label them. The acting between both characters were really good you could feel the connection through the screen, it even showed the struggle that females her age may go through at that age when in a relationship with a younger guy. One character that really annoyed me was yong Soo-Cheol as he was judgemental based on the females age . Overall the drama has a good message which potrays the idea that you shouldn't be afriad to date someone you love.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Came for the Spica OST, found a noona romance with a bit of a draggy story
I originally discovered Witch's Romance because the "theme song" was sung by Spica, and I stumbled upon the music video of that song that had scenes of this drama in it and became interested. However I then forgot about this drama until I saw it here on MDL, and decided to finally watch it.I was honestly excited for this drama at the beginning, things were going pretty smoothly for the two leads, but eventually there was a LOT of stuff going on and I just wished that the relationship of the main leads would have progressed better and at a faster pace. The story started to drag a bit because the writers decided to drag a lot of misunderstandings and such. Also, I honestly didn't care for the workplace scenes a lot, in my opinion a lot of those scenes did nothing for the story and they just.. were. They were really not interesting.
When it comes to the acting/cast/characters, Park Seo Joon did a good job in this, which I'm not surprised by, since he's a good actor. Uhm Jung Hwa also did a good job, her character was likable (at least after the story started to progress more) though some of her scenes were super cringy, like when she was "drunk" for example. To add, I have to say that I did not like some of the FL's colleagues at all. They were just really annoying and I didn't enjoy watching their scenes. FL's mom was also quite controlling over FL at the beginning, but she got better fortunately. I did not really like ML's best friend either, he didn't really have proper character development. FL's best friend and her husband were sweet though.
The music in this drama was good, it was cute, I love Spica so I was excited to hear a song by them in this drama, but for some reason at the second half of this drama they completely forgot the Spica song and stopped using it? That was a bit upsetting. Also, I found it kind of hilarious, that those scenes where UJH/FL was dancing in her living room, it seemed like she was originally dancing to a completely different song and that they just threw the Spica song on that scene as an afterthought almost. I mean that she wasn't moving to the right rhythm lol.
Overall this drama was just okay. It had a lot of characters that I personally didn't like, and I hoped the relationships and their issues were resolved faster, because the story started to feel draggy. The main characters were nice, and some of the supporting characters were as well. The soundtrack was okay as well. I'd say that especially if you enjoy noona romance dramas, you could give this one a try. At first I gave it 7.5 stars, but then I thought about it a bit more and I decided to score this a solid 7 stars out of 10. Not terrible, but not that amazing either.

Title is misleading Sort of like the taming of the shrew
This is a 2014 South Korean romantic comedy with 16, 60 minute episodes. At the top of her game, Ban Ji-yeon (Uhm Jung-hwa) has everything except for a husband. Her work colleagues not so fondly refer to her “as the witch” as she pulls no punches in the very competitive field of news reporting. Those that cross her path are likely to leave after experiencing her sharp wit and brutal truth telling. Yoon Dong-ha (Park Seo-joon) seems to be Ji-yeon’s complete opposite. With his best friend he runs a part time agency and they do just about any odd job which puts him in Ji-yeon’s path frequently. At 39 Ji-yeon’s mother wants her to get over having been left at the alter by her long time boyfriend, and take the next steps of marriage and children. Dong-ha lost his serious girlfriend under tragic circumstances and, hasa maturity born of tragedy at 25. A twist of fate has Ji-Yeon and Dong-ha not only working together but also next door neighbors. The more Dong-ha gets to know.her the more he sees that “the witch” hides a very caring and nice interior that she takes great pains to hide. Just when it seems Ji-yeon may be able to win over Ji-Heinz and convince her their age gap does not matter her ex-fiancé shows up. He has a story to tell and is determined to get Ji-Yoon back. He is handsome, rich and is now a world renown photographer.
Spoiler ? I was surprised at how much I liked this movie although I should not have been as Park Seo-Joon was in one of my favorites, “Fight My Way”. It was a little bit taming of the shrew in that she seemed pretty vicious on the surface. I thought they were very compelling and sweet as a couple. I also like all of the supporting characters and the friendships were very fun to watch. It was believable to watch her struggles with the age gap and also how she had to work through the feelings she had for her ex fiancé. There was a middle section where it felt a bit frustrating that she was slow to realize her Luke warm feelings for her ex-fiancé and her growing and persistent feelings for Dong-ha. Still I really loved this movie and highly recommend it as an outstanding romantic comedy.

This is one of the best noona romances, proving that love knows no age boundaries. Park Seo Joon and Uhm Jung Hwa's chemistry is off the charts crazy good in this drama. You can't help but smile at the couple's cute bantering and tension. The 14 year age gap (and 19 in real life) doesn't seem real based on how believable the romance scenes are executed. Great writing, directing, and acting across the board. Uhm Jung Hwa looks really good and had great outfits throughout the drama. Actually, I really enjoyed the style choices by all of the cast and the outfits really added to each character's personality.
The middle of the story dragged too much, with the return of the ex-fiancee. If you can make it past that, you will be rewarded with lots of smiley and fuzzy sweet moments at the end.
Good use of sound effects. Loved all of the supporting cast and their storylines as well. Yoon Hyun Min shines in his comedic acting here.
Really enjoyed this drama. For feel-good moments, watch the beginning and the end.

Underrated-- it dates really well!
People love to hate on this drama, and I can never understand why, because having watched a LOT of Noona romance, this is, in my opinion, one of the best. It's my Holy Grail of Kdramas. Much superior to the Taiwanese one it's based on. It's funny, it's cute, and it's romantic. It's so good, I made my boyfriend watch it-- and he is not a drama fan-- too tropey for him-- and he really enjoyed this one. He agreed the chemistry between the two leads is off the charts. I also made him watch My ID is Gangnam Beauty and while he liked that, he still agrees this one is better, just because it flows really well. It's a great drama with a really interesting storyline, it's got a tight story pace, and though it lulls a tiny bit in the middle, it kept me hooked. I never fast forwarded any of it, and I am a serial fast forwarder in Kdramas. The B stories are all stellar, the acting is top-notch and the chemistry is something else. It's also dated really well, I have rewatched it three times now, and it never gets old, for me. If I had to criticize something, it's towards the end, but it's still pretty great. It's also rather funny show-- the side characters are all just hilarious, none of them hit annoying at all, from her mother to her best friend to the ML's best friend and their 'bromance'. All of them are great. It's so rare to find a drama where I like everyone, even the love rival-- even the enemies, and the B stories are amazing and funny.
The criticisms from this drama seem to be by pretty young people that have an issue with the age gap; it's 14 years in the drama but more IRL. Honestly, people need to get over it. They are both adults, he is the pursuer, and it is way less weird than other Noona romances like 'I (Can) Hear Your Voice', where the love interest is a High Schooler. I like that one, but I found the gap more cringy than this. Plus the FL is fire in this, her fashion is top notch, her legs are too die for, and she is extremely beautiful. How can you blame the ML for being into her? The only criticism is her hair is kinda crunchy at the start, maybe overly processed-- people seem to complain about this a lot. Her hair is something that is corrected later and you don't even notice as you keep watching. Again, I wish I had her legs and body. I like that she is unapologetically 'curvy' (well, for a Kdrama lead, at least). It's really refreshing. And the ML is great to look at too.
This is extremely extremely underrated Noona romance drama. Like I said, it's by far my fave Noona romance drama. If you like the genre, give it a try. and stick with it I feel like people who didn't give it a chance either are pretty young and can't relate to the FL (which is a valid thing, sure) but honestly, if you give it a chance, this drama really shines.
I give it a 10 to balance some of the weird low ratings it gets. It deserves way more than it gets here.

Decent start rest of it a FAIL
In the beginning the FL seemed like a self-reliant, smart and vivacious reporter, then she became overly cutesy and a crybaby. She did all the cliche things while becoming too dependant on the ML. So around Episode 5 or 6 the drama became ridiculous and boring. The intimacy and chemistry between FL and ML wasn't there at all, other than the first kiss, they mostly just hug or barely touch lips. The age difference wasn't noticeable because the FL was way too childish and the ML was the mature person. Even the 2nd ML didn't seem mature, but was better than FL. It was so unnoticeable that the script writer had to have supporting characters point out the age difference. Sub-plots and characters did nothing to add to the drama and was mostly wasted screen time and filler. The music wasn't impactful. No character growth at all for anyone in this kdrama. The good thing was that production was okay and they didn't have the shaky camera problem that most dramas have.
Overall I wont re-watch this garbage, I don't recommend it, there are way better kdramas out there.

I'll start with the story, which wasn't bad, it was just standard. It's filled with marriage pressure, past loves, and the currently trendy age gap between the two romantic leads. The age gap in this one was very VERY apparent, then I realized that there's almost a 20 year age gap between the two actors. Still the chemistry between them is the driving force behind this drama. The fact that seeing them together was sometimes shocking in the beginning made the story work better when I was suddenly rooting for them. Uhm Jung Hwa and Park Seo Joon were really great together, and I could certainly understand how even the coldest witch could fall hard for Yoon Dong Ha. I'll admit that I liked him a lot more than her, but together they got me hooked on the story. I loved watching the romance develop, and get messy, but towards the end the cute relationship scenes were starting to get on my nerves because they were so cheesy. I definitely felt myself losing interest in the last episodes.
The supporting cast was great, though many of the characters were cartoony. Mom, Her BFF frienemy with her lovestruck husband, her coworkers... they were all pretty funny. I think I loved Soo Cheol & Dong Ha's bromance almost as much as the main couple. When the story started to get repetitive, whatever the story lacked, the cast usually made up for it and kept me entertained. Well most of the cast anyway... Eun Chae was kinda pointless, but it did give Yoon Hyun Min more screen time so I wasn't that bothered by her.
I did really like the soundtrack, even the cheesy witch theme. And I definitely swooned when I saw Park Seo Joon singing Come Into My Heart. To me, he's the star of this drama.
Overall this is a pretty good addition to the older woman-younger man craze. It's a cute love story, but also pretty mature, and doesn't take itself too seriously. I would probably only rewatch scenes, not the whole thing, which is why my rating is lower than most. It also starts to lose steam towards the end, but at the end of the last episode I was satisfied.
It's also nice to see a non-cinderella k-drama romance once in a while, so I would recommend Witch's Romance, especially to the ahjumma crowd (aka grown and sexy lol).

This show is nothing to write home about but Park Seo Joon is excellent here as the ML. His charisma is off the charts and there are scenes in this series that would make anyone fall in love with him. Unfortunately, the series was below average. It's another romcom with misunderstanding after misunderstanding. Then the reappearnce of the ex-fiance that really ruined the show for me. PSJ and Uhm Jung Hwa really do have good chemistry though.
I did like the bromance between Dong Ha and Su Cheol. Some genuinely funny and adorable scenes between the 2 of them! I also liked the relationship between the Boss and Ji Yeon's mother.
