On February 14, media outlet TenAsia shared that Boyfriend on Demand will be released through the global streaming platform Netflix instead of the original plan of airing it on the broadcasting channel MBC. The K-drama will be released in 2026.
Boyfriend on Demand follows the lives of people who form connections with virtual boyfriends after subscribing to a service. The K-drama focuses on webtoon producer Seo Mi Rae, who tries to find love through a virtual dating simulation called Monthly Boyfriend.
The upcoming K-drama will be led by Kim Ji Soo, Seo In Guk, Ryu Abel, Park Ji Ho, Kang Min Woo, Song Ha Na, and more.
This will be the next K-drama project of director Kim Jung Shik, who also created the series No Gain, No Love, Strong Girl Namsoon, and Work Later, Drink Now.
Kim Ji Soo and Seo In Guk recently finished filming in the Philippines for Boyfriend on Demand. The exact release date of the K-drama is still not confirmed.
Kim Ji Soo will portray the role of Seo Mi Rae. Currently working as a webtoon producer, she seeks a risk-free love. She then explores romance with 900 men in a virtual dating simulation called Monthly Boyfriend.
This will be her second upcoming K-drama. Kim Ji Soo is currently starring in the Coupang Play original series Newtopia with Park Jeong Min. She will also star in the upcoming film Omniscient Reader: The Prophet with Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Min Ho, Chae Soo Bin, After School's Nana, and Shin Seung Ho.
Seo In Guk on the other hand will portray the role of Park Gyeong Nam in the series.
Meanwhile, this is the fifth upcoming K-drama of Seo In Guk. He will also lead the upcoming series Twelve, Smoking Gun, Literalism, and In Your Brilliant Season.
