
Park Jeong Min and Kim Ji Soo's Coupang Play drama Newtopia has started off strong.
According the FlixPatrol, the zombie K-drama ranked on Amazon Prime's top 10 lists in over 50 countries, including Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Kuwait, Mexico, Nigeria, Oman, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, among others, as of February 10.
Moreover, Newtopia has also set a new record on Coupang Play upon its release.
According to the domestic OTT, on its premiere day of February 7, Newtopia set a record for attracting the highest number of viewers among all Coupang Play series upon release, surpassing the score of the action series Family Plan, starring Bae Doo Na and Ryu Seung Beom.
Moreover, on the Coupang Play, Newtopia holds a score of 4.1 out of 5. On KinoLights, a platform that ranks content across theaters and OTT (online video streaming) services, the drama received a rating of 85.71 out of 100, surpassing the first-week score of Family Plan (83).
Newtopia tells the story of soldier Lee Jae Yoon (Park Jeong Min) and Young Joo (Kim Ji Soo) as they navigate a zombie-infested Seoul, trying to reunite. The K-drama is directed by Yoon Sung Hyun (Time to Hunt), with the script penned by Ji Ho Jin (A Shop for Killers) and Han Jin Won (Parasite).
