Hallyu star Kim Soo Hyun, who has been making front-page headlines due to controversy surrounding his relationship rumors with late Kim Sae Ron, has canceled his fan meeting event in Taiwan.
Previously, the organizers stated that they planned to hold the event, despite the controversy and the refund requests for Cherry Blossom Festival (the fan meeting venue) tickets, as "the Cherry Blossom Festival is not a private concert, refunds will be difficult to process."
However, 7-Eleven Taiwan, the event organizer, officially announced on their social media handle that the 'Kim Soo Hyun Fan Meeting,' originally scheduled for March 30, has been canceled due to the actor's schedule adjustments.
This fan meeting was supposed to be Kim Soo Hyun's first official schedule after facing controversy over his alleged dating relationship with Kim Sae Ron. Local media reported that the cancellation penalty for Kim Soo Hyun's fan meeting amounts to 30 million New Taiwan dollars (approximately 1.3 billion Korean won).
Moreover, on March 21, Disney+ decided to postpone the release of the drama series Knock Off, in which Kim Soo Hyun plays the lead role, due to the controversy.
On March 10, the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute (Hoverlab) claimed that the late actress Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron for six years from the time she was a minor. The channel continued its exposé by releasing pictures of the two together.
In response, Kim Soo Hyun's side, which had initially denied the allegations, officially stated that he had been in a relationship with the late actress for about a year after she became an adult.
Lately, Kim Soo Hyun's team has filed a police complaint against the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute operator Kim Se Ui and Kim Sae Ron's family. Additionally, they have filed an additional complaint against Kim Se Ui for threat and intimidation.
