Daughter of Luo Lin (Water Deity) and Zi Fen (Flower Deity), her identity was kept a secret from everyone including herself from the moment she was born. Her mother, Zi Fen, was the Leader of the Flower Realm and on the day Jin Mi was born, had read Jin Mi's fortune and discovered that Jin Mi would have to undergo a severe love trial after 10,000 years which could cost Jin Mi her life.
In order to prevent such a terrible fate from happening, Zi Fen fed Jin Mi a Yundan Pill/ Pellet which was supposed to stop Jin Mi from having any romantic feelings towards anyone. Jin Mi was also confined to a Water Boundary within the Flower Realm and was not allowed the leave the place. Jin Mi was given a magical hairpin which cloaked her in a glamour or illusion that made others think that she was a boy, and Jin Mi was told that she was a grape sprite of earth origins instead of her true nature.
Jin Mi lived under strict confinement in the Water Boundary for many years and longed to go out to see the outside world so when Xu Feng (Fire Deity) crash landed inside the Water Boundary during an incident with his nirvana, Jin Mi took the opportunity to revive him and request to be taken along out of the Flower Realm to explore the outside world.
This was the beginning of her adventures and her love trial.
