Serious Historical Chinese Dramas

Here’s a lot of some Chinese dramas that are fairly serious. By that I mean proper fight scenes, a solid plot or even a tragic death or two.

With that said, I am guilty of spoiling the ending for myself before I watch any of these because I can’t take a sad ending. You must realize that a lot of Chinese dramas focus on specific eras of history. A lot of what truly happened then was almost always tragic. The idea of an emperor or anyone within the palace living with surety of life was quite unfathomable.

But rest assure, if you don’t enjoy sad endings like me, then this list is perfect for you. These are dramas I have watched over a very long period, so there might be the possibility of a tragedy being included. Hope you find something new to watch!
