Dramas I'd have dropped if I weren't a completionist

This may be your sign to drop (or continue!) these dramas which I'd have dropped if I weren't a completionist. There are many dramas I've sat through purely to reach the end and be able to say "I gave it a chance." But when that chance wastes precious time, or feels almost as excruciating as dropping it, perhaps you should drop it instead. As a former never-dropper, who's only recently dropped a drama, here's a reflection on the dramas I wanted to drop. This isn't in any order theoretically, but I have stronger opinions on some dramas! *cough* Blood *cough*

An alternative title could be - dramas I'd love to be able to teleport into just to slap certain characters.

  • Blood

    1. Blood

    Korean Drama - 2015, 20 episodes

    4.0

"Bloody hell," I kept thinking to myself as I watched this. I probably kept going for the wrong reason - my love for Jin Kyung - but the premise seemed interesting! And it was, but Ku Hye Sun's character looked constipated when she was supposed to look thoughtful (that's my guess at whatever the hell that expression was), and I suspect it was an acting issue. I didn't like the last few episodes and the LAST STRAW was a favourite character of mine who died. It seemed a game of how many people can we kill/hurt in the last few episodes and I disliked it.

I wished I'd just dropped it instead of living through the stupidities of Hye Sun's character and Jisang, especially since I didn't really like him later on in the series.

  • TharnType

    2. TharnType

    Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    0.5

This is my all-time lowest rated drama. I refuse to rate anything lower because I don't feel I've seen anything which deserves a lower rating than this yet, and I refuse to rate this lower than 4 because if it weren't for some specific things I really disliked, I'd have rated it well because the production wasn't awful and I'd feel guilty.

One of the tags is dubious consent. Not saying no is NOT consent to me, even if the victim is being "pleasured", and thus their sex scenes really gave me the ick, even though I skipped them. I had an issue with the mentality of "Let's have sex because I don't want to owe you", and although I don't remember much of this drama, I remember being especially bothered by this. These two would have been enough for me to drop it, but I foolishly continued, thinking that people rated it so highly because the sexual assault was dealt with well and they went their separate ways. But nope, they ended up being a couple.

Also, why is Type so possessive? It pisses me off and honestly, some of the shit he puts Tharn through is just unacceptable at the later times, even if I disliked Tharn for the start. It's almost impressive how he becomes such a doormat when Type gets pissy with him, although I'm not a pacifist.

I actually wish I'd dropped it, but the prospect of well-dealt with trauma kept me going and unfortunately, I was very disappointed.

  • Together with Me

    3. Together with Me

    Thai Drama - 2017, 13 episodes

    6.5

So what really concerned me was the way one character seemed borderline homophobic and disgusted when he woke up in bed with his bestie. Blaming it on Korn was bad enough, but then acting like nowt happened when his gf shows up and being all pissy was another thing. The number of times I remember Knock believing or prioritising his snaky gf over his best friend was enough to piss me off, and I wondered when it was going to end. I'd have probably dropped after the first couple of times Korn got kicked to the side.

  • Big Dragon

    4. Big Dragon

    Thai Drama - 2022, 8 episodes

    4.0

Similar to my issue with TharnType, I disliked their start, and this I kept watching for hope of some proper dealing with Yai. Although, I should have guessed it wouldn't happen because if it were mentioned, it wouldn't bode well for them being a couple, and realistically, Yai is rich. The only vague punishment was blackmail and I didn't like it, even though Yai did deserve to have the table flipped on him.

I should have dropped it from the drugging and assault bit, so basically the start, but as my favourite band Echosmith sing "20/20 vision only comes through with a little hindsight"!!!

  • Cutie Pie

    5. Cutie Pie

    Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes

    3.0

Would I have dropped it? At several points I considered it. If I was an emotional dropper, maybe. But I'm glad I didn't, because the friends really were amazing (THERE WAS A WOMAN IN STEM AS ONE OF KUEA'S FRIENDS!!!), and I especially liked Syn (Yim) and later Nuer (Tutor).

  • Bed Friend

    6. Bed Friend

    Thai Drama - 2023, 10 episodes

    5.5

Early on, I would have dropped it for the dodgy way King kept acting. Pushing someone to move in with you - who's your friend with benefits??? Eurgh! However, I appreciated the storyline with Chane and how his character got the consequences he deserved at the end.

  • Fhalanrak

    7. Fhalanrak

This started off as a hatewatch, and I hate myself for it.

The saying goes: "Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back." There WAS no satisfaction to bring me back. My curiosity killed me with this frustrating drama which only went round in circles while showcasing the most toxic leads and stereotypical side characters.

4/10, and now I know what inspired Love Senior to put some awful instrumental music over a live performance. I refuse to rate it lower because if I can rate TT a 4 for the poor production people who had to edit this mess, I can rate this a 4 too!
