Triggers: obsessive & stalker behaviors the norm; rough sex , HEA not guaranteed
Queer rep: decent in terms of a range of gay relationships but few visually queer, trans, or femme characters
Female rep: sometimes a female friend, sister, mother; no faen fatals
Quality issues: names of shows are weirdly awful; some limits in scope of cast
Strengths: lack of heterosexual dysmorphia; consistent quality in terms of acting & staging despite limited budget; serviceable sound, audio, & visual editing if not exactly ground breaking cinematography; decent subs

My Rating System for BL 

• 10/10 - highly recommended, faithful to tropes, happy ending, good chemistry, few flaws (e.g. WBL)
• 9/10 - absolutely recommended, probably a few pacing issues or one flaw (e.g. H2:CTL)
• 8/10 - recommended, some concerns around tropes (like dub con) or story structure but still satisfies as BL (e.g. H2:RoW)
• 7/10 - recommended with reservations, i.e. isn’t quite BL, convoluted, not strictly HEA, too short/long, or chemistry issues (e.g. H3:T)
• 6/10 - worth watching but seriously flawed probably around the ending or in narrative structure/cohesion or censorship (e.g. Friend or Lover)
• 5/10 - watch it if you have nothing better to do but don’t expect much, it’s a total hot mess 
• 4/10 - it’s censored beyond recognition or fatally flawed
• 3/10 - I don’t know what I’m watching and neither does it (e.g. Dark Blue)
• 2/10 - it’s depressing, they killed the gay, save yourself (e.g. H3:MoDC)
• 1/10 - It’s awful, don’t waste your time, I watched it so you don’t have to
