Best BL Dramas

This drama is my Day 1 of BL fan. Started watching 1 Nov 2020. 

2gether is like first, puppy love. It was happy, it was pure, it was fun. 

This drama is perfect for beginners to BL dramas. Light kissing scenes, super funny too. What I really love about this drama is the incorporation of SCRUBB songs on each episode. For almost every episode, the male lead (Sarawat) would play the guitar and sing a song to the other male lead (Tine). The songs kinda had double meanings when played under those settings... It's like Klaine from Glee.  

I fell in love with Bright and Win because of this series (but more of Win's fan, lol). Bright is crazy attractive when he is singing with his guitar. Win is... he can be beautiful & cute + handsome  & cool at the same time. I don't understand how... He has such a unique face that I just can't get tired of. He's my obsession now lol. 

They are the reason I couldn't finish many dramas afterwards; stalking them on IG and YT is way more interesting than watching dramas

Win is CRAZY CUTE AND PRETTY AF HERE. He made me fall in love with him like no other. I can't. Win babyyyy i miss youuuuu :((

Anyway most of the series is a re-enactment of the legendary lines in 2gether, and I AM DEFINITELY NOT COMPLAINING.  It was an UPGRADED version that made me squeaaall and giddy with happiness.  Watching the 2 of them more lovey dovey was definitely the best. thing. ever. 

And. The legendary ending kiss. PLEASE GMMTV WE NEED SEASON 2 OF 2GETHER!!!!

Not gonna lie, I totally didn't expect what I would see from TharnType. The hotness and steaminess of this drama is WAAAAAAAYYYYYY above 2gether. If 2gether is nursery, TharnType is the university of steamy scenes, lol. I was kinda shocked by the sudden jump in the level steamy scenes.

Mew (Tharn)'s sexiness level is way over the top. After TharnType, I proclaim him, hands-down, the sexiest man alive. Just. Hot. Damn. 

For a few days after I watched this series, I recorded his "drinking water scene" and "which flavour scene" and just kept replaying it over and over again........ It's like, he's a casanova, flirt-god, he knows his charms and he use it completely to his advantage.

He is a fantasy alive.

Some of the scenes are bordering around molestation/sexual harassment, but for me I just kinda go with the flow so I wasn't exactly offended. Also, I read a little bit of the novel after I finished watching the series, so I understood Type's thoughts and his actions better.

*Spoiler* So. The reason type approached tharn, it was not because he didn't want anything etc. It was because he felt good with Tharn and he thought tharn was the only way he could fix his homophobia. 

I love the 2 male leads - Saint and Zee (Tutor & Fighter) here. Their chemistry/kissing scenes definitely didn't lose out to TharnType. Some make out scenes are even HOTTER (and more explictit) lol. But for SaintZee, the couple dynamics are a little different than Tharn Type. For Tharn Type, it was mostly Tharn initiating and Type following his lead. For Fighter x Tutor, Tutor is anything but your passive bottom. He's a little sweet devil driving Fighter crazy with his seduction lol. 

Also, I feel that the emotional attachment for WHYRU is less serious than TharnType. 

TharnType deals with traumas; it was a story about how Type was able to overcome his trauma by finding love with Tharn.

WHYRU on the other hand, the only problem was parent's disapproval, and it was easily resolved too in the end. 

But I do love the "courtship" period of Fighter & Tutor. It was definitely one of the best in terms of enjoyment.

Theory of love definitely brings back memories of your own bittersweet unrequited love. It was a drama that makes you just wanna curl up in your bed and cry while listening to sad love songs.

I love dramas that incorporates a general theme to their episodes... like how Friends episode titles always started with "The One where..."... and 2gether has a general theme of Scrubb Songs. 

Theory of Love has a general theme of "Movies". Each episode title was a Movie Title e.g. Best Friend, Love Actually, Crazy Stupid Love, 10 Things I hate About You etc.

If you ever had an unrequited love, you will definitely resonate with the character's feeling, in every. single. episode.

I always watch dramas at 2x speed, but Theory of Love makes me want to watch in slow-motion. I wanted to immerse myself in the the character's feelings and slowly savor the moments in the drama. It was truly brilliant directing, acting and editing on the drama production team. 

Got me excited every Friday. Even though I have to wait until 12.45am every time to watch it. 

Tharn and type are just simply the best BL couple out there.... no other words needed

edit: i don't like the plot for season 2 -.- i wish they are more creative. But i thoroughly enjoy all the sweet scenes between TharnType, so i shall close one eye.

Damn this drama. I feel like I was just wasting my time watching it. I still tried to continue until the end (I fast forwarded a lot) because of all the good reviews. 

The lines are so cliched, the plot was also nothing much except the fact that they were reincarnations. There weren't any scenes that impressed me/left a deep impression on me. 

e.g. in 2gether, one of my favourite scene:
*Sarawat & Tine were shooting video for their music club project.*
Tine: Hi everyone, I'm Tine the chic guy. And this guy is...
Sarawat: Tine's boyfriend.
*Tine growled and proceeded to restart the video*

In TharnType, the "drinking water scene" on ep 3 and the "which flavour you want scene" on ep7 got me crazy for DAYS. 

In WHYRU, the whole beach trip was just...insaaaane. My mind was BLOWN lol.

So yeah. there wasn't anything that was out of my expectations, and Pharm is seriously way toooooooo passive and conservative -.-

Even the make out scene was anti-climatic....

Also the second couple... how they even got together was so weird. There wasn't any scenes that "builds up" to the relationship, all of a sudden they are just together...?

Love it! But the kisses are actually quite tame. Perth is a really handsome cutie pie, I think he's still too young to be expert at kissing hahaa. 

Completely confused, stopped watching at ep 6, maybe i'll try again if i have time

Personally i really like watching the part where 2 people started falling in love. Since DBK is a story AFTER they got together, it's a little not my type, stopped watching at ep 7, will continue if i have time. Taynew is totally cute, i'm a new polca fan

Edit: completed it, i guess it's okay, but as i said, I prefer watching stories about how 2 people started falling in love, not after they got together. I also think TayNew don't have enough sweet moments in the drama... Most of the time they are fighting because of nonsensical issues (facepalm)

FUuuuuddgee. To be honest, I think the story got too draggy, especially the whole murder case part. I feel like there's not enough interactions between the main characters before they got together... 

BUT WHEW THE LAST EPISODE LOVE SCENE 

*Saw some bumps on their boxers, are they actually like, aroused on set lol* HAHAHA

This shit is GOOD. In HIStory 3 Trapped, I kinda felt that the process of Shao Fei starting to like  Tang Yi is a little weird. But in HIStory 2 Crossing The Line, it completely felt natural! Like if I'm Yu Hao, I will totally fall in love with Zi Xuan. Plus the hopes and dreams and perseverance... it's a meaningful story. loooveee it. My only complains are - there were no love scenes and 8 EPS IS WAY TOO SHORT

Seriously though, the dream kiss is way hotter than their final ep kiss... 

Enjoyed watching this. But it's not exactly memorable... especially after I watched I told sunset about you next, lol. 

The thing that I felt lacking was, there was no explanation why the engineering guy was suddenly not angry at the medicine guy and even applied to transfer to his university and pursued him.

Fuck this drama is crazy. The emotions are so raw. The character's feelings are so real. You know how in many BL dramas the characters just accepted that they like a guy so easily? Is it really that way in real life? If you've been straight your whole life, there must be those moments of inner struggles in your heart, there must be those moments of dilemma and you questioning your own sexuality.

This drama portrayed that soooo perfectly. 

I finally understood what's the rave on this drama. It's crazy perfect, it's a masterpiece. It's art. 

This drama should win awards, it doesn't make sense if it didn't. 

I would have rated this drama 15/10 if I can.

Hmmmmmmmzzz. The first scene is already problematic for me. The fact that Korn practically raped Knock didn't sit right with me. 

Then the show went from bad to worse, with all the drama that Knock's girlfriend caused. 

These are the 2 greatest issues I have with the drama: 

1. BITCHY GIRL

Given that 80% of BL drama consumers are girls, why would you include such a bitchy girl character? Most of the girls drama watchers would definitely not be able to relate. We are all more like Fai rather than Pleng. Another thing. There was this line Knock said to Pleng "You are not wrong in doing all that, I can understand it because you want to be with me." 

EXCUUUUSSE ME?! DO YOU THINK THE AUDIENCE ARE IDIOTS?? OR IS KNOCK AN IDIOT? 

In fact, I think all the characters are idiots except for Yihwa, Fai and Korn's Sis. And maybe Korn. I hate the way he gave his all to Knock even when Knock treated him like a spare pair of shoe. 

I just can't sympathise with dumb characters.

2. CONTINUOUS CLICHED MELODRAMA SCHEMING LARKORN PLOTS

Please. A story doesn't need to have cliched plotting/schemings to be good. I swear the screenwriter needs to watch more high quality dramas and think of better story plots or lines. 

And omg, the doctor is some messed up shit and Farm is an idiot.

NEVERTHELESS!!!

MAXTUL ARE HOT. LIKE HOOOT HOT. Both their bodies are like GREEK GODS. But I guess I like SarawatTine kind of dynamics more than MaxTul... Like I think MaxTul are oozing too much male pheromones lolol.

Why make 8 10-min episodes when you can just make a movie, seriously. The story is too short for it to be compared to the other dramas in this list...,

But as expected from a korean production, acting was good, music was good, the only thing is that the kiss scene was too frigid. Can see that both male leads are definitely not used to kissing guys lol. 

Well, it was a good distraction. If you watch it x2 speed, you can finish this in 40 min. 

THIS DRAMA MADE MY DAY. 

Being a 28 year old girl who was never in a relationship before too, Adachi's character is SUPER RELATABLE. The series is SO CUTE AND FUNNY. Kurosawa is worthy of drooling after. 

Honestly, the only bad thing i can think of about this drama is that... there's no way a character like Kurosawa exist lol. He's too perfect, and his mind is so clean..? HAHA

There's no way a 30 year old guy with that killer looks is that pure. lolol.

but well, it's only a drama, a fiction, so i'm not complaining. 

Can't wait to watch ep 10.

edit: finished the drama and still love it! a lot of people are complaining because there were no kiss scenes between the 2 main leads at all... but for me, I don't really mind that because i'm already happy seeing them together haha

ABSOLUTE TRASH, STOPPED AT EP4. 

surprisingly a good drama! Captivated me right from the start. 

Ohm is really cute and handsome. 

Singto character's past feels a little cliched but I love their love story. 

i think it's overrated because it's one of the first bl dramas... 2gether is much more funnier and sarawat is hotter (daddier) than kongpob... Well. 

I quite like this drama so far and i'm following it every week.... mostly because Pod is so HOT. Like seriously, I think he's the hottest guy in GMMTV. 

Edit: finished watching, decent drama but not something that I will remember as a favorite. It has a lot of funny moments and Pod is hot, but, what i didn't like:

• Chon's acting.... sometimes it felt like he really didn't like being kissed/touched by Ton.
• The drama ending with the girl being surrogate mom.................................
• How they totally made use of Na -.-

But I guess the tone for this drama is to not be taken seriously, so maybe just roll with that?

the ost gives me goosebumps. the story is good but it's super short - like 1hr long in total? Sigh. There wasn't enough episodes for me to get invested in them the way i'm crazy about BrightWin.

my first PH BL lol. I like chinese looking guys more so I was never really attracted to PH BLs...  But this one was surprisingly good, even though each episode is only 5 mins and there's only a total of 6 eps -.- It was relatable and right there in the feels. Honestly i think this is better than the other short BL series I watched - Wish You and Where Your Eyes Linger.

I don't really like filipino guys, but this drama made me see past that. This story and lines are just so captivating and endearing that I stopped caring if the main leads are not good looking (my handsome guy tastes: plappod, win, new), I just want to see them together. 

The push-up counting reps scene was SO FUNNY OMG. 

And the way they shoot the drama, like 95% through online platforms, was unique and creative. Kinda like Searching (the movie)? 

But i feel like the cinematography (of the 5% that were not in online format) were not very professionally shot, the light saturation etc was not very good. 

It's a minor thing though, overall I still really really really enjoyed this series. 

I have nothing to say. Holy Mother of BLs. 

Okay. First, the OST was perfection. It complements the whole drama so perfectly and made the scenes MAGICAL. 

Second, the storyline. You know, a typical drama story would have Introduction (characters meet each other), Build Up (characters started getting closer to each other), Climax (characters got together), Conflict (something disrupts their happy love), Resolution (they resolved the problem). I love 2gether, but damn their Conflict and Resolution made me wanna smack the director in the head.  This drama though, poses a conflict that i've never seen in BLs before which is "afraid of coming out". As a straight girl, I didn't realise this was a problem until I see it in Karl's perspective. The drama did a good job delivering all 5 parts of a story, I have not a single complaints. This drama really deserves a 10 (oh but ITSAY is still it better, so ITSAY is like 10.5).

Third, the lines. 

"I don't want to think anymore" --> Me screaming at the top of my lungs

"Please, turn back" "Please, say my name" --> me dumbstruck at the powerful scene and having goosebumps all over my arm. 

"I'm gay. But I can't tell papa yet" --> me getting teary and more goosebumps

These 3 scenes are seriously so powerful and I am really in awe with the production team.

Fourth, the brave ending. 

You know how dramas always have happy endings coz it's the safest bet? It's true though, I hate open/sad endings, but I was actually satisfied with this drama open ending, it was sooooo satisfying.

I SHOULD HAVE WATCHED THIS DRAMA LONG AGO

Filipino dramas SERIOUSLY NEED TO BE LONGER. I STILL HAVEN'T HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!! 

My GOD why are filipino series not getting much popularity?!! This drama is like SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN SOTUS & DARK BLUE KISS!!

no matter how much i love frank and drake, their drama is trash. the storyline is confusing, the video editing is sloppy, the music didn't match the scene, the plot isn't well thought out. 

Sigh. What was I expecting when the title is "Pornographer". Didn't really enjoy this drama as I like more fluffy sweet romance kind. This one is dark and full of cheap porn...

11 Jan, ep 7:

Sigh, how do i say this... 

The serial murder mystery plot is not that interesting, the story is a bit slow, i don't feel challenged as a watcher.... But holy fuck MaxTul are seriously true BL Kings. The way they film love scenes are as easy as breathing... Like seriously, I think they are more comfortable with each other than any other BL couple out there, including MewGulf. They are partners of equal standing with each other. 

You have my respect, boys. I hope they can get more recognition, really. It doesn't make sense their insta followers are only 1.1m and 900k whereas the 8 pillars of gmmtv all have over 2m followers...

I guess the company matters, gmmtv really did a great job promoting their artists in all kinds of platforms.

One of the better BLs out there imo, but the cut scenes are irritating, and some of the storylines at the end didn't connect well. But enjoyed it nevertheless. 

okay. Overall i give this series like 6.5. If you want to watch this, just watch the RamKing part, the rest are not worth your time. The first few episodes was so painful to watch i almost dropped the series. It got better from ep 5-ish onwards and I managed to finish the series.... So I think that's better than some other series that i can't even manage to finish.

So there are 4 couples:

Couple #1: BohnDuen. Bohn is handsome AF but I really don't like his character. Through a sequence of nonsensical plot, he kinda succeeded forcing Duen to send him roses everyday for 1 month. And the stupid Duen complied... Afterwards Bohn is just so toxic (getting jealous and aggressive with the slightest trigger) and Duen is just a pushover. Seriously... this couple makes the first few episodes torture for me to watch to the point I almost dropped the series. But they got better ep 5-ish onwards.

Couple #2: RamKing. No problems with them! Super cute. 

Couple #3: MekBoss. Slight problem with how Boss got together with the gf even though he liked Mek...? And he looked freaking excited also when he's pursuing the girl. Then when they broke up, his explanation to the gf... "Sorry but i like Mek more" i'm like WTF dude. Seriously. But other than that, I do love their storyline.... It's just that single line SPOILED THE WHOLE THING. If he explained this way, it would have been much better.. "I have liked Mek for a long time, but I thought it was just me one-sidedly liking him... I thought I could forget him if I dated you... but i realised that I couldn't be without him... I'm sorry..."

Couple #4: TharaFrong. Literally not much development on this couple

Seriously, just watch this RamKing cut playlist, the rest are not worth watching 

I think the production team is really good. The dialogues, storyline and pacing is perfect.  The lighting and shooting of the series is also very good.  The background music suits the mood of the story, the ost compliments what the characters are saying (you know unlike TH series, that always uses weird sound effects -.-). 

I'm actually quite surprised by the production value of PH series... They are much better than TH lol. GMMTV, seriously you need to invest in your screenwriters/directors/cameras more. 

Overall, i really liked the dialogues in this drama. Some notable lines:

"Why are you thinking about getting hurt right away? That's the best thing about being in relationship, the surprises, the things you can't control."

"That's when i realised that you love a person because of how they make you feel."

The series is quite similar to Gameboys, but while Gameboys is funnier, this series feels more professionally created.

The only complain I have for this series is that - there's no kiss scenes! Ending scene is only them hugging each other :/

omg i have never seen so many product placements in one series before. On ep 3 now and this i'm watching a 15 min part in 2 min.

This drama is on par with ITSAY omg. I really like the storyline (sucker for fantasy-themed stories). The male leads are handsome af I can stare at their faces for hours. 

Seriously korean BLS need to be longer!! 

So much potential but they always choose to make it short and sweet.

Edit: Okay just finished ep 7 and 8. I would say ITSAY is still better because it's longer.  The kiss scene is too awkward lol, but really love the storyline.

What a breath of fresh refreshing air in the stale BL World!!! I enjoyed every single minute of these short 8 10 mins+ episodes, really love the story portrayed by this couple!!!

Short movie scale, it's definitely a 10!!

Again, I'm impressed with PH's production value. When I was watching TH dramas, there were times I would feel like the music doesn't match the mood, or that the story wasn't coherent... but PH dramas always felt seamless.

Anyway, I really liked the story, it was funny and touching too. Kokoy de Santos is such a great actor... He really made his character alive, like I can believe that such a person exist. When he cried, it felt real. Even his cringe-worthy dreams doesn't feel awkward/cringey lol. 

The times he said "Ay, pota" made me laugh SO hard. 

HAHAH

OH. MY. GOD. 

Ep 3 and this drama got me squealing and screaming and making a mess of my hair. 

KIT AND MARK ARE THE CUTEST COUPLEEEEE!!!!!

LOVING THIS SO FAR I HAD TO VENT MY FEELINGS HERE

Edit: okay finished all 12 eps. How do i say this. the only couple worth watching in this series is Mark and Kit really. The rest are a mess. 

Stupid Pha x Wayu x Thanu x Pai - really a mess of relationship man lolol.

Then the swimming and medicine guy is also messed up. Coz I kinda skipped a lot I don't really understand their storyline. But basically medicine guy set the swimming guy up so that he couldn't compete? (OMG I JUST REALISED THEIR REAL NAMES ARE BANK AND BONUS. SO THEIR SHIP NAME IS BANKBONUS LOLOL)

But Mark Kit seriously saved the series for me, they never fail to bring smiles on my face whenever they show up. Sooooo cute! 

Although this is highly recommended, I only watch it now coz I didn't like the main actors faces....lol. 

It's a very good drama indeed. It was very touching (i cried in the end).

Plus it's a 30 min x 4 ep so a movie length? Short and sweet drama to pass the time.

Okay, you know what? I put off this series long enough. I read all the comments.. I knew what was coming, but FUCK!!! They gave us the most perfect BL show imaginable and then they just took it away just like that.. Honestly, episode 10 never happened. This show was PERFECT I tell you. From the acting, to the love scenes, the comedy, chemistry, EVERYTHING.. What were the writers thinking??!!! *cries in wtf* now I see there's going to be a part 2. HOW?!!! 

Ohh and it was such a nice surprise that the couple cameo on the last ep of life senjou no bokura was actually YSG and XHT!!!

Anywayyysss. What i don't like about this drama:

- YSG actor is really... lacking visuals wise lol

- Ep1-2 is really weird with XHT gf choosing YSG over XHT - totally don't make sense. If my bf is as hot as XHT i'm gonna tie him to my bed

- The bullying part really...

- EP 10 -.- (Oh but worth it to watch ep 10 for closure on LZG x SBX storyline haha)

What I LOVE ABOUT THIS DRAMA:

- Omg ep 5, hottest love scene i've watched

- Kiss scenes + chemistry are seriously THE BEST.

ep 1: slow start imo, the 2 leads only met at the last 2 min of the episode

Meet expectations for a Korean Drama. I quite enjoy this drama but it's too short to make an impact in my life.

Korean BL drama characteristics:

• Great production, cinematography, directing, OST, screenwriting and acting
• Amazing visuals, korean guys are just so handsome
• Super short, movie length
• Passive make out scenes (please learn from taiwan BLs)
