Gangster Romcoms / Comedies

A wacky musical action comedy of a love story between the daughter of a family of thieves and the son of a family of police officers. I enjoyed every minute of this drama, from the Romeo/Juliet parody, to the musical numbers, to the wacky characters. I rarely give romcoms or comedies a 10 but this one is the full package :)

A refreshing and wholesome rom-com, full of loyal friendships, a supportive family, and an inclusive message that will leave you with a big smile after each episode. The ML, especially, was an absolute sweetheart. Where do I find a man like him?

This was so much fun! I really wish it had a 2nd season.
Highly recommended for anyone that wants to watch something hilarious & heartwarming.

This drama right here is GOLD especially if you're into Japanese comedy. Wacky, over-the-top and so much fun. This is not to be missed. I seriously love Fukuda Yuichi, his work always brings me so much joy :)

I started this for Mamiya Shotaro but stayed for each and every character. This was a wacky, hilarious & heartwarming drama that could teach you a thing or two about family, friendship and growing up. The writing, direction and performances were so sincere and wonderful. The Nanba family will be missed.

Picture the chaos and madness when a devout catholic girls school and a gangster-ish pervy boys school merge.. this delivered and how in both comedy and heart. As always, Kudo Kankuro doesn't disappoint in creating a wacky universe you can't help but fall in love with. All the characters were loveable in their own ways that I couldn't help but root for all of them. And boy, did they all grow up as the show progressed. I almost teared up in some scenes. Even the sexist / inappropriate jokes were used to poke fun at everything and ended up making me laugh. I felt sad when it ended, because I am going to miss these characters.

Probably one of the most iconic Japanese dramas ever, with an edgy direction / camerawork and characters, who were both jerks and so charming, that were way ahead of their time.. Kudo Kankuro scored a jackpot with this one and thankfully has not stopped ever since.

Initially, I wanted to put a disclaimer that only people who understand and love Japanese humour should watch this but I loved it so so much that I'd love everyone to see it and appreciate it.
WHAT A FREAKING CLASSIC. All the characters, their comic timing, the chemistry they had together - it was a freaking riot. I laughed my ass off after a long time. Not only was it funny, but had so much heart. I rooted for and fell in love with each and every character. The writing was stellar, the editing & direction was pitch perfect. No words for the acting because it didn't seem like they were acting at all.

I freaking loved this multi-genre movie. It hit all the right spots with the comedy, the heartwarming romance, and the detective-yakuza story. There wasn't a single dull moment. Tsutsumi Shinichi was so charming.

While it wasn't without its flaws especially in the second half, Uhm Tae Goo's charm and soft demeanor coupled with the loveable family of Thirsty Deers who supported each other through thick and thin made this endearing and sweet romcom a pleasant and enjoyable viewing experience.
Time well spent!
Also, did I mention that I am in love with Uhm Tae Goo's sexy voice? I'm definitely hitting the 'like and subscribe' button for him :)
