I Watch Too Much Reality TV

look, it's just charming ok? nothing since has matched the charm of this original season or this final group, imo.

favorite season based on a combination of production values, choreo quality, and captain personality synergy. and, ofc, really good dancing.

wholesome!!!! and great duets.

the whole thing drips production value and money spent; performances are good and the mix of personalities has great synergy. it's pretty bullshit that they took out the judging panel and any and all criticism that the jiejies were subjected to, tho. men are too fragile for that.

really neat, actually!! some really great performances and songs, some really interesting kids. the absurdly skewed voting was less great, however. my personal pick was fruit planet.

quite touching at points, and i loved the resulting super group, even if they did break up immediately d/t scheduling problems.

a hilarious disaster. the kids are still charming, and watching them learn along the way is endearing.

still airing, but i'm enjoying it a lot so far... sort of the coming one super band but with professionals.

classical singers! bass singers! counter tenors! shivers!!!

didn't love the format changes and not quite as endearing as s1 but still some really good performances and coco is a goddess.

clearly more budget than the first season, better format, and many lovely dancers and routines.

not quite as touching as S1 but still plenty of great jiejies

still airing at the time of writing... not as much budget as call me by fire but i still really like a lot of the geges.

look, don't judge me, they're just really cute kids, ok

weird format but some good performances and just generally fun. after journey is always a good time.

winners kind of a foregone conclusion but really enjoyed some of the combos this year... cnls forever.

they're so cute together, the xiongdi feelings.

VAST improvement over S1 in terms of production values. format/elimination still kind of weird, but a lot of the music was better too... the mentor collabs probably helped with that. I liked performances from all of them, tho tante was probably my overall fave of the season. happy to see yzj and he did a great job.

idk dudes. the format was weird this season and the finale was clearly, CLEARLY rigged. pretty sure they had it all planned out already... and that's why they didn't have judges for the final battle rounds like normal. still some neat routines tho.

not as fun without jackson, but watching henry get picked on forever is also entertaining.

the first season, with almost zilch production values lol. the captain synergy wasn't super strong here and it felt like they gave tao a hard time just because his vision was different.  i remember almost no one besides han yu. 

silly, but that's what makes it fun. sorta like that wins are determined by whoever guesses their points most closely rather than the actual vote counts.

an extremely weird little show whose format i don't get at all, but some really neat performances, especially from gai and after journey. zyx is here too, ig.

felt sort of unnecessary by the end and some of the girls just got the super short end of the stick, but still some super cool performances. i love yamy.

gets suuuuper boring once you get to the actual competitions but the stuff before that is fun/funny.

better job making it less boring/interspersing the fun stuff with the boring stuff this year.

very glad that team that won, won. 

idk it happened. i liked most of the kids in the final line up. that's about it.

the infamous™. i'm happy with the final line up for the most part, so it's whatever.

kind of boring and honestly why was lwh there, but i liked some of the kids and after journey is best rap mentor.

semi-terrible d/t low production values, but the songs got better as it went along... xiao gui took being criticized like that way better than i would have been able to.

well... how i met a lot of the dancers that subsequently ended up on sdc and/or, hilariously, youth with you. jackson is annoying here, probably because he's also clearly extremely unwell, luhan is useless, and their team's attitude is overall awful. finale was a slaughter/unfair anyway since jackson and luhan are from a newer generation of idols than william and victoria, who are sweethearts but also underdogs the entire show. as always, however, there are still some good dancing.
