Maybe a little misogynistic? The verdict is out on this but if I was to forgive mysoginy in the name of art, it would probably be for this guy. Just brilliant storytelling and always sending out some kind of social message.

All time fave is Confessions and Memories of Matsuko. Then, It comes, Kamekaze girls and finally The World of kanako.

The director writes the screenplay as well and his films are fearless, bold, an acquired taste and have this downward spiral form of narrative weaving that I am in love with. Always the bright colors and excellent cinematography - his movies are truly atmospheric pieces of art.

Lee Soo Yeon

Queen of woke. Creates very slow burn, full of dialogue, moral debates and mental workout shows with just a hint of profound human connection. 

Stranger 1&2 and Life - all time favorites.

Blood Free had its moments but was a little too woke with its vegan agenda for me. It was also a bit boring but still so on brand with this writer.
