As far as I know Old Man's Love is the only BL that ever became a franchise. Currently with 8+ installments and running for 8 years.

A quick and intense rollercoaster. This drama is an extremely effective romcom that delivers a lot of entertainment in a short time.

The reason it's on the top is because I love fluffy romantic scenes, sexual tension scenes and emotional support scenes.

This BL doesn't lead viewers with crumbles, it gives us A LOT of affectionate cuddling and kissing scenes. The amount of sweet scenes overshines any negative moments this couple initally had. The show also explores themes of forgiveness and recognizing your past mistakes.

The couple has heart to heart honest conversations and offer emotional support to each other trough actions and words.

It's like a crazy comedic soup with many flavors and feelings. There's a lot of scenes to make you laugh, cuteness overload scenes to make you squeal, sexy tension scenes to make you scream and emotional support scenes to make you cry. 

The comedic tone comes at the expense of a rough push and pull relationship which unfortunately triggers sensitive viewers. Not me though I can appreciate some tough humor.

The show is self aware and self referencing, leaving no questions open and characters backtracking on their past behavior commenting on their past mistakes and learning from them. 

The fact that the characters say sorry to each other and recognize their initial mistakes is a huge plus not usually seen in other shows.

Favorite Song: I can't wait too long by 하민(BXB). 

The OST is calming, relaxing and romantic but nothing too memorable and impactful for my personal tastes.

A longer BL Series about finding the real you as you grow trough your teenage years and your first love.

Best character development BL series, there's a lot to talk about each of the characters. Character growth focused show instead of pure romance, uncomplicated love triangle that makes sense, longer episode format, cuteness overload moments, funny moments and banger OST.
 
Favorite Songs: Another Level by CLC,  Spark by ACE, Fever by MOOK.  

These EDM Songs really match the refreshing teen vibe of the show besides having lyrics that completely match the characters and the story.

Longer series about the hardships of campus life, uncertainties of adult life, battling depression, overcoming traumas, letting go of the past and other deep themes.

Longer episode format, memorable songs, memorable characters, memorable story, heart touching emotional moments, angsty and sad moments without going full dark, happy ending, satisfactory conflict resolution, sexual tension moments, cute dating stage, relaxing natural scenery moments, funny lighthearted moments.

Favorite Songs: Go Off by Milano Extras, I've been thinking by Dimitrix, 너와 나 우리 by 웨터.

Love for Love's Sake will become a staple in the BL Industry as it has raised the bar in many aspects, good acting, good cinematography, unique premise, unique story, touches on dark themes without going full dark while retaining it's lighthearted cute teen love vibe. 

The show can be enjoyed as a lighthearted unserious watch but also leaves room for deeper interpretation and analysis for theorizers who like to seek deeper messages trough the hidden hints the show has.

There are many strong points about this show.  

Favorite Song: My favorite song of this show has no name and wasn't released, it's a retrowave guitar song that plays on episode 1 as Myung Ha runs for Cha Yeo Woon and in the ending of the show when they kiss on the beach.

You don't know what fluffy boyfriends chemistry is until you watch Our Dating Sim.

The lighthearted teasing, the cuddling, pecking and the kissing. The kissing scene is real and both actors really go for it. 

Very few KBLs get near the level of physical intimacy this couple has without resorting to vulgar erotism. 

Deserves recognition for pushing boundaries with real kissing and extra skinship for KBL standards, even though it lacks in other aspects. 

Best Office RomCom JBL 

Cherry Magic perfectly executes what it wanted to be, a lighthearted, cute and funny office romcom with memorable characters and a unique premise of magic 30yo virginity powers lol.

All characters are lovely sweethearts to spend time with.

Lacks a little more genuine skinship and passionate kissing but I'm used to the Japanese reserved way. I appreciate other love languagues besides physical contact.

Favorite Song: Ubugoe by Omoinotake. This opening song matches the characters and the story so much and I' m still listening to it long after finishing the show.

Every single aspect of this show from OST,  to acting, to cinematography, to character writing is well done and well executed making it a solid choice to watch and rewatch.

High quality production, good cinematography, sceneries, beautiful stylist and makeup work, handsome boys and beautiful girls. 

Looks bright and colorful like a shoujo anime. The story also rolls out like a shoujo anime, uncomplicated story with decent enough character growth and excellent OST.

Favorite Songs: Love letter by Hyelin (EXID),  Baby Baby by POLY.

Classic High School Teen Japanese BL RomCom. The whole cast is memorable, funny and sweet.

The handsome Meguro Ren delivers one of the most unique and memorable BL Characters I've ever seen. 

Ida-kun acts nothing like his handsome and cool appearance indicates. Ida-kun is our classic conflict avoiding Japanese person who'd rather enter a relationship with someone they don't love than saying no and breaking hearts. 

His moments of teen immaturity such as when he teases Aoki makes his character much more believable so it's really surprising to see Ida-kun confidently and openly date Aoki without caring about the homophobia they faced besides his calm and mature way of conflict resolution.

There's a lot to say and unpack about the other characters such as Aoki, Hashimoto and Aida but it's Ida who stole my heart so I'll stop here.

Extra points for showing the characters defeating Homophobia.

Love Tractor gives us a cute and uncomplicated love story in relaxing and beautiful rural settings with great OST that I saved on my playlist. 

Yoon Do Jin is a handsome and charming male actor who did a perfect portrayal of a Cute Farm Boy falling in love for the first time. I absolutely adore Ye Chan's cuteness which is the strongest point of this show for me.

This drama has a spin-off series with both actors enjoying a trip to El Nido and it's beautiful natural settings, though without the romantic context.

Favorite Songs: Rainbow by 콜딘 and Lucky Strike by 현성. 

Heartbreaker masterpiece with a masterpiece song with well deserved millions of views.

The whole thing resonated with so many people who went trough heartbreaking intense first loves that never came true. 

More realistic and heartbreaking than fluffy, the wounds this movie opens and reopens are going to stay with people for a long time. Though the movie cut out some important scenes that added extra context to the bond between the main characters.

Rather than an intense sexy passion love story, Our Dining Table is a simple, cute and heartwarming story about family bonding during meals, the Japanese reserved and introverted way.   

It touches a few angsty topics such as death, fears and traumas without losing it's cute lighthearted mood. 

All main characters are memorable and adorable in their own way. 

Little Tane-Kun being the cutest Onigiri, Minoru being a hardworking protective brother and our gay panicked Yukata being a master in showing feelings trough his eyes. 

Can't rank higher because I prefer more physical and emotional intimacy though I understand that making this spicier would ruin the Reserved Japanese Family vibes of this show.

Memorable and unique  premise. Two grown Japanese men going into an "anti-aging" protocol which mostly involves going into pastry shops and stuffing their faces with sweets.

The sweet flavors of this show quickly develop into spicier tones resulting in a mature couple willing to spend the rest of their life together. 

Not higher because it's too short.

Kawaii Highschool Japanese Childhood Friends to Lovers but it's done right sprinkled with loads of sugar and fluff. 

Great character writing despite having only 5 short episodes. Both main characters simply work for each other with no complications at all.

Amane is  straightforward and upbeat but is actually a heartbroken boy hiding behind prosmicuity who doesn't take himself seriously. Ryuji takes things too seriously and respectfully, overworking himself to substitute his decesead Dad to the point of neglecting school and being asleep to his life and his own needs.

Amane wakes Ryuji up and Ryuji mends Amane's heart to receive true love. A simple and effective genuine couple.

Cute guys like Sang Ha are my weak point. This one is a spicy sugar bomb sprinkled with a little angst that left me wanting MORE. 

Atletic handsome guys with sportive outfits + bright colorful visuals? Yes please. 

The whole main cast looks awesome to be honest. 

I don't think the characters were fully fleshed out and well explained but for a 2020 KBL it did great. It delivered a lot of fluff and flirty teasing from start to finish and I smiled troughout most of the show.

Not higher because the unrealistic lack of sexual tension between the couple. 

I'm not asking for smut, I just wanted to see a little more desire oozing trough their facial expressions but for 2020 KBL standards this was perfect.

Funny and Sweet Japanese BL with a unique meta-world premise with BL Actors acting in a BL.  Over the top moments and kawaii sweet moments. 

Extra points for the unique and unexpected dynamic between the couple.

Almost three hours of handsome actors going from enemies to lovers? Yes please.
Handsome polar opposites clashing but falling for each other, simple and effective. 

Some viewers didn't feel the chemistry but I did and got a few goosebumps. This is one of those high tension couples that make you say: Just make out already!

Classic Korean Eye Candy, nothing revolutionary, exceptional or unique but engaging story telling and captivating characters. I'll totally rewatch the series version. 

This show did the best it could in an era where KBLs weren't as popular and accepted as today (2020). Deserves recognition as a pioneer that helped KBLs increase in popularity and acceptance.

Handsome cast, refreshing teen vibes, high tension moments. Interesting subversion of the Master x Slave dynamics.

It's not higher because I prefer shows with more fluffy physical or emotional intimacy scenes, and there's only a few here. Though it's true that Kang Gook taking a huge beating and risking his future for Tae Joo is a big testament of love.

Extra points for the loyal couple still in love after 3 years apart.

Favorite Songs: Light by 9MUSES Keum Jo

Casual heartwarming watch to cozy up during a rainy/cold day.  
As the title indicates, the main character restarts his life after he comes back home but also sparks a new love with an orphan local.

Extra point for the many heart touching themes it explores such as: Family legacies, hardwork, accepting your roots and opening up your heart to be loved.

Cute short movie about the difficulties of going deaf with a little touch of BL. 

Coincidentally I've watched this while recovering from ear damage caused by loud headphones, so I related a lot to the Main Character's pain.  

Cute office romcom to watch casually but nothing too exceptional that wasn't done before much better. 

Extra points for the themes of Korean Workplace Hardships and Korean Alcohol Abuse. 

Fluffy and unproblematic Highschool BL to watch casually. Doesn't explore any specific themes deeply but the characters are sweet and there are a few memorable moments.

Wasted potential. Poor engagement, confusing character behavior but beautiful kissing scenes.

The drama wasted too much of the little time it had with irrelevant conflicts. The build up was weak, and when the show finally started to get interesting, it threw the momentum away with more immaturity.

The romance and sexual tension is too low. When they finally started to get fluffy and romantic, they quickly got back into stupid conflicts.

The show tried to explore difficult themes like: Korean Beauty Standards, Bullying and Divorced Parents, but they failed to convey the emotional intensity of these topics.

There are shorter BLs out there delivering much more from start to finish.

Doesn't match my tastes at all. Nobody is perfect but this show doesn't do a good job redeeming the characters flaws. 

No lightheartedness, no comedic tone, no profound reasons, neither good enough explanations to alleviate the characters acting like jerks.

Two handsome basketball players, that's all.

First BL I ever dropped.
As a victim of socipaths I wasn't able to get past 15 minutes into the first episode. Yes I read the description but it didn't sink in until I actually watched the thing.

I don't want to be reminded of a disfunctional love hate relationship with mentally deranged liars.
