1. Kamen Rider W
Japanese Drama - 2009, 49 episodes
Favorite Kamen Rider, causing me to buy my first rider belt, do my first tokusatsu cosplay, and eventually I would go on to venture to Pasadena, CA to meet Renn Kiriyama and have dinner with friends which is an important experience to me as a milestone.
It may not be perfect, but it's damn near close. -
2. Kamen Rider OOO
Japanese Drama - 2010, 48 episodes
A story perhaps even better than W, an improvement on many of its dynamics as well.
-
3. Kamen Rider Kuuga
Japanese Drama - 2000, 49 episodes
A masterpiece of tasteful storytelling, use of special effects, pain, and love.
-
4. Kamen Rider Ryuki
Japanese Drama - 2002, 50 episodes
The sleek, metallic designs, combined with strong 2000s aesthetics and J-horror filming styles create such a dark atmosphere that I find it immersing every time.
-
5. Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger
Japanese Drama - 2011, 51 episodes
My first completed Tokusatsu program which introduced a world I would remain thoroughly immersed in since 2013.
-
6. Kamen Rider Build
Japanese Drama - 2017, 49 episodes
A near perfect synthesis of all of Heisei Phase 2's identity, with a serious storyline, colorful characters, a constantly one-upping villain, and fantastic new powers and gear that sometimes have a tremenduos impact on the story.
-
7. Kamen Rider Ex-Aid
Japanese Drama - 2016, 45 episodes
The more I come back to this series, the pacing and characters win me over every time. Aesthetically my favorite Phase 2 Heisei Rider and some of my favorite characters in any story.
-
8. Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
Japanese Drama - 2013, 48 episodes
This series gets more exciting with every episode. Its cast is lovable and its action always over the top. Its like dopamine injected directly into my brain every time.
-
9. Kamen Rider Geats
Japanese Drama - 2022, 49 episodes
It's like Ex-Aid and Ryuki combined and does some things better than both. Also the series with the best female rider!
-
10. Jinzou Ningen Kikaider
Japanese Drama - 1972, 43 episodes
A showa tokusatsu with surprisingly amazing characters.
-
11. Kamen Rider
Japanese Drama - 1971, 98 episodes
An inspiration to budget and horror film making and gives the original spirit to henshin heroes. I may not finish it any time soon, but every experience with it is unmistakably iconic.
-
12. Denkou Choujin Gridman
Japanese Drama - 1993, 39 episodes
This show aesthetically speaks to me on such a primal level. The situations this show comes up with are zany as hell sometimes, but the show has a lot of heart, and Takeshi is surprisingly a breakout character by the end!
-
13. Ressha Sentai ToQger
Japanese Drama - 2014, 47 episodes
A touching and unique sentai story with an ethereal dreamlike quality and underlying darkness.

Japanese Drama - 1991, 51 episodes
Some of the best storytelling in all of Super Sentai
-
15. Denji Sentai Megaranger
Japanese Drama - 1997, 51 episodes
The constant escalation of action and new millenium aesthetic makes it irreplaceable to me.

A story full of strange tales and some of the most lovable and iconic monsters of all time.
-
17. Avataro Sentai Donbrothers
Japanese Drama - 2022, 50 episodes
Absolutely one of the shows of all time.
-
18. Kamen Rider Blade
Japanese Drama - 2004, 49 episodes
Dramatic and sometimes lovably overacted series of shlock-horror and action!
-
19. Kamen Rider Drive
Japanese Drama - 2014, 48 episodes
More of the same kind of enjoyable mysteries as Kamen Rider W, highlighting a story full of police drama and corruption, and characters you can really feel for. ACAB still means Tokujo though.
-
20. Shougeki Gouraigan
Japanese Drama - 2013, 13 episodes
What the fuck did I just watch?
4 and a half out of 5!
