Watching one reminded me of the other. Both take place in a dystopian world where each has to survive. While The Calm beyond focuses on a natural catastrophe and the aftermath of it, Alice in Borderland pulls the people into a game.

Reverse gender roles. Both dramas revolve around the idea of what it would mean if men where confronted with situations women face. While Hiyama Kentaro no Ninshin deals around the idea that male pregnancy was as likely to happen as female pregnancy, Ooku emphasises on what it would mean if males where put into the roles women faced in ancient historic times.
Both are very bizarre productions but make one question about societal standards and norms.

Both dramas have a dark, eery and sinister vibe to them and are from a similar artistic feeling. Both dramas revolve around characters that question if they are witnessing/involved in a murder case or not, and investigate that. Both end up doing questionable actions and doubt if people they live with are murderers or not. By doing so, they get pulled deeper and deeper into the case. Each drama is full of twists and turns and is a very gripping thriller.
