Howling wolves at night...

While Teacher howls at night for 3rd aunt... CSS asks LBY in the morning are there wolves in the area. LBY looks at CSS questioningly and CSS' response is that she heard wolves howling during the evening... hehehe. CSS says goodbye to 3rd uncle & aunt. On return home the gates are closed due to the escape of General Fang, LBY has gates opened and escorts CSS & family members through the city gates and the Emperor hears of it. Now why did LBY do that? Yanyi interrogates CSS on how many times she has met LBY and her father states that LBY has fallen for CSS. CSS accuses her mother for wanting her to give up A'Yao and give a chance to LBY.

CSS recalls removing the arrow out of LBY -- A'Yao proudly brags about his and CSS' engagement to General LBY & Scholar Shanjian.Scholar Shanjian Teacher tells a story of a young woman whose marriage is held up for 7 years, only to finally be stood up at the altar in the end -- CSS states the ex-fiance'e a narcissist jerk. LBY points out that the woman wanted ex-fiance'e to know that her marrying someone else was to inform him that the 7 years of waiting was to show her faithfulness and love, and it finally came to an end when her trust was no longer to be believed by the ex-fiance'e. Her devotion should not be taken advantage of. Lovers should not be separated. LBY asks CSS if the one she has chosen to marry, the right person? A'Yao calls her before she answers and she runs to A'Yao with a sweet smile, she has chosen well.

It's a Family Affair

CSS's father rushes to Hua County to check on CCS -- especially since their close encounter of attacking rebels. CSS's mother rushes shortly after receiving news that CCS has accepted A'Yao's proposal of marriage. Third Uncle and Aunt are on the receiving end defending CSS and praising her for the outstanding job of facing the rebels and putting the plan together to rebuild Hua County... Yanyi is taking none of it! She knows what a trouble maker her daughter CSS is and wants to put an end to all her shenanigans.LBY rushes to Hua County with an excuse to give the honorable edict to the late Magistrate Chen from the Emperor. Only to witness A'Yao confesse to CSS and CSS accepts that their fates are met to be and in doing so acceptsA'Yao's marriage proposal. LBY overhears CSS say '".. General LBY, the nations outstanding General, killed hundreds, thousands of those while at war... his hands has taken many lives and hands are stained with blood...

Heroes of Hua County -- Cheng Shao Shang' spirit

How can you not see the spirit of the people of Hua County -- the sacrifice for Emperor, country and the immediate people of Hua County. The Elderly Magistrate, his son and grandson with the remaining small county military make their last stand to hold off the attackers till reenforcement comes to save them, leaving instructions with his young granddaughter, they leave the safety of their city to meet the enemy.Third Uncle & family were on their way to replace the elder magistrate, but because of delays and detours they did not arrive in time. It possibly saved their lives. Third Uncle leaves his party to investigate Qing County and sends them on to Hua County, here we see CSS's spirit and strength to survive and keep those with her safe. She rises to the occasion. Young Lord LBY arrives to save 'young miss CSS'.

Waiting for Leo

May '23 5th rewatch and updating my take on the Cheng's and LBY -- CSS' father has a strong sense of love for his wife and is all fatherly love for his daughter/CSS. He manages a loving balance with wife, daughter & mother. Xiao Yuayi. CSS' mother, is strict and definitely a military general's wife who is use to issuing military discipline feels strongly to undo her daughter's sad 10+ years of upbringing through military discipline as soon as possible. The beginnings of conflicts between mother & daughter. Both mother & daughter have a grudge with 2nd aunt, who raised CSS to be unruly. We met Yang Yang in Episode 2. She is older cousin, daughter of 2nd brother & 2nd sister-in-law/CSS' 2nd aunt. Meanwhile LBY has completed investigation of the grand-uncle and has moved his investigation to the person identified by the grand-uncle.Jul '22 Warming up to Leo's character -- Love Lusi! She never disappoints... waiting to see who shines besides her and Leo... At first I wasn't going to watch because I loved Leo in TLB with Reba -- glad I did... completed first 12 episodes in a day & a half... couldn't turn it off.

May '23 This is my 5th rewatch -- why? Because I haven't found any new historical storylines that can catch and keep me interested; so here's my update for Episode 2 -- mother is unraveling CSS' mischievous antics and the misunderstandings that begin to take place between mother and daughter. Still funny and light hearted drama, though serious. Meanwhile, General Ling Buyi's investigation into the Cheng's family is also unraveling the uncle's involvement and how his beginnings of intrigue of CSS.Jul '22 Repeat comment --- but it should have been listed as a comedy also --- I'm warming up to the Chengs --- Love Lusi! She never disappoints... waiting to see who shines besides her and Leo... At first I wasn't going to watch because I loved Leo in TLB with Reba -- glad I did... completed first 12 episodes in a day & a half... couldn't turn it off.
