Okay so here's what I honestly think. This film is just a brutal, gruesome look at the reality of suicide.
It also tells us to have a connection with ourselves before anyone else which yes, it's profound but personally think it's not as powerful a sentiment as it's supposed to be considering its the movies philosophy.
Because if you're this connected to yourself that you don't need anyone else, then isn't that the opposite of the other message of the film which is to not be selfish and self serving?
And even this is a matter of opinion, so I'm not at all dismissing the creator for it but what did bug me was that one antagonist who is quite obviously Tim Currys character from Rocky Horror and if he was trying to pay homage I don't know but it just didn't fit and kept bugging me.
But, all those problems aside this film is still very much a masterpiece. Yes, it's depressingly gory but then gore is not of the itchi the killer variety it's not supposed to shock, or give glamor, but create the same creepy, surreal, hypnotic vibe this film is set to give. Which wilk make you feel like you just witnessed a group of girls get mangled under the train .
But like I said this movie does it not to be some splatter gruesome edgy movie, it does this to connect you to the characters and the story.
It was definitely brilliant in so many ways but it's disturbing like nothing so please bear that in mind.

It's hard to explain but the feeling I got watching the drama was how it feels to fall in love with someone for the first time. Not some fling that you were peer pressured into having, but the first time someone moves you.
I didn't know this was by the same people who created my two favorite shows, Death Note and Haru Ga Kita but now I know they're geniuses!
This story is about the repurcussions of trauma and how they tend to make you isolated. How easy it is to fall into the trap of coldness and cynicism and pretend your very human feelings don't exist.
Because, as long as no one hurts you, it's all good, right?
But this drama shows you that what you might believe are your personal decisions have a bigger impact on the people around you and especially the ones you love.
And how that kind of cynicism makes you take selfish actions and these actions have consequences.
This drama will move you.
It will make you a better person.
Because all of these dilemmas are universal. And so is heartache and denial.
And unless you open yourself up to someone, you'll never stop feeling so completely alone.
Oftentimes, the loneliness we wallow in so frequently is also our own fault.

I literally just was searching through Viki's Japanese collection and this one popped up randomly and I started watching it. I didn't even know what it was about.
But this turned out to be such a beautiful, cinematic, atmospheric movie I kept getting sucked in.
Byung Hun seriously had me bawling. The whole cast was just right.
The script was unique, and the visuals mesmerizing.

It's not easy making a good enough on the premise they chose naturally it leaves you a little underwhelmed.
But it was interesting and would have benefited from more episodes and a proper resolution.
Acting wise it's okay but the product placement was too on the nose. to the point where even the organ donor message which btw important message no doubt, but the way they did it was very obvious and just preachy.

Excellent mystery and the two main leads, Park Bo Young and Song Joongki made me feel everything from love to sadness.
The ending... God.
Anyway, my kinda love story with plenty of heartache and passion.
The length of the movie was about 2 hours which is a good duration to really get attached to the characters and the creators did it so well and the casting was good too.
Yeon Seok as the villain gave a powerful performance as the self serving antagonist.
But the real strength of the story was the bond between Bo Young and Joongki, they are both so beautiful no doubt but more than that they brought their characters to life.

I love this trilogy and even though I personally didn't like this one as much as I wanted to it still is a solid film that you need to watch.
I love how this whole trilogy can get pretty dark and this one the main lead Lee Yong Ae was just perfect!!!
I loved how she doesn't try to be a 'good ' girl that is by other's definition of the word.
Her entire personality is defined by that scene where she asks the much younger Kim Shi Hoo's before screwing him "are you the type of guy who gets turned off when a girl does this kind of thing ?" And only when the boy vehemently responds no does she proceed lol one of my favorite scenes!

Anyway, I digress. This film is kind of like The Chaser, it's very raw and REAL. But much more gruesome and horrific.
Literally I've not been this mesmerized by a film with so less actual dialog!
As for the acting, direction it's perfect. The way they showed the desperate circumstances of the characters and the vile violence they get caught up in. It breaks arbitrary boundaries of right and wrong.

So honestly I watched it for him and I don't regret it.
Even when it was on the last few episodes I would have given it a 9 or 10 but the problematic script and plot just kept getting worse and I can't in good conscience say it was worth a 10 rating.
Good points for me were the male lead's adorable dorky but kind nature. He doesn't resort to violence and believes in kindness despite not being good at studies and at first I thought they were going to change him into something else by the end but I liked that they showed not everyone is the same. That when people don't apologize resort to violence they might feel proud but it's not the way to deal with life in a civilized world.
Another great point was the friends and family members and other people and the relationships they formed. How when they were able to speak their heart they were able to communicate their fears.
The cons, the sheer cringe worthy scenarios. The worst was many of them had nothing to do with the actual point of the story. For instance wasting the resolution episodes on the idol story what does it have to do with the main story! The main plot was the female lead's story arc and they completely resolved it in ep 14 ! So the rest was honestly pointless and Kai coming to terms with what happened so damn fast was completely against how his character was ! And the resolution with the female lead was nonsense in the first place!
The way the characters all around were behaving like ok if you're going to get ugly with cancer might as well go somewhere to die alone! Seriously? Who came up with this nonsense?
So yes not without its faults but certainly not as bad and entertaining with some good stuff.
