Definitely a great drama. The story follows Bai Qian, who is part of the Fox tribe (they have a strong hold among the immortal clans). She is quite a naughty youngster so her family friend, High Immortal Zhe Yan, sends her to Kun Lun to learn martial arts and good behavior from High Immortal Mo Yuan (also played by Mark Chao). Bai Qian is then transformed into a young male fox diety, Si Yin. There are quite a few "love" plots that follow Bai Qian/Si Yin. Si Yin gets involved in a love story with prince of darkness, but it ends when her teacher passes away due to his father. Bai Qian dedicates her life to trying to restore her teacher's spirit, but ends up going into a heavenly trial as a mortal SuSu. SuSu meets Ye Hua, the imperial grandson and crown prince of Heavenly Lord's tribe. Upon, returning from her heavenly trial she descends to a high god but cannot handle the torment she goes through, so she erases her memory and goes into seclusion. Ye Hua also cannot get over his love for SuSu and tries to restore her spirit. Their love proves time and time again, that they're meant to be. I think it's cute because Bai Qian originally met Ye Hua but he was in the form of a golden lotus growing in Kunlun mountains, so it's like "fate" wants them to be together, but they always almost "misses" each other.
Overall, great cast and plot. One of my all-time favorites.

I've never watched FL in a drama before, so this is a first. Like many, I was not really attracted to her/thought she was great to pair up with ML. However, I grew to like her in this role. The plot was interesting. I never seen a FL "lead" all of heaven/all the immortals, so it was interesting to me. It meant that she has to take on a lot of responsibilities and "grow up." There is a lot of character development for FL. Of course, like many xianxia dramas, it does involve "love over multiple lives." I particularly enjoyed the 2nd arc when our FL and ML were in their 2nd lives - and they fell in love with each other, but their entities were technically "not them." I thought that was interesting concept. It was heartbreaking trying to understand the leads, if they'd "remember" each other or not. I was on the verge of screaming at the drama.
There are a LOT of characters here, and I wish there was time for all of them. Overall, the chemistry was great between who it needed to be. I was heartbroken for some of the side characters, because they loved who they loved and unfortunately, it hurt someone else. Especially Yue Mi waiting on her love to be reciprocated. :(
Although the drama is LONG (af!!) - it was paced out nicely, and didn't feel rushed.

I love the cast, but the plot in part two fell short (for me). I love Reba but her dramas are often hit/miss. I thought this drama had meh storyline. I wished they were able to come to compromise sooner, and understand each other better, but they did not. They continued to create more misunderstandings. I also thought that the chemistry between the two leads were lackluster. I know others on Viki were leaving comments about the same thing. Everyone says that Allen Ren doesn't "act" when it comes to intimacy due to the respect he has for his wife. But even just emotionally, I didn't feel love between the leads. Visually - this drama was amazing. I liked the amount of effort they put into staging the set, the cinematography and music. However, all off these things do not matter if the plot isn't there.

I found this drama on TVB Viet (so it was dubbed into Vietnamese). I always liked Myolie Wu and Ron Ng, so my review might be a bit biased. This drama is based on Cho Tsing (Myolie) and her mom Bai Yuet. They are con-artists that roam around trying to make ends meet while searching for her father. They end up in their hometown where they bump into old friends the Kai siblings (Ron Ng and Jade Leung), as well as Cho Tsing falling in love with the heir of the Tsin Family (Him Law). Although her mom urges her not to, she wants to marry into their family and has to overcome struggles w/ her in-laws forcing her husband to take on a 2nd wife. She comes up with all kinds of schemes with Ron Ng, only to end up divorced and later falling for Ron. In the midst of this, her father returns but he's an evil eunuch and sought to ruin both the Cho Tsing, her mom, and the Tsin family (he's after their land).
Overall, the drama wasn't terrible. I was working from home and would put the audio on and listen. This drama is quite comedic as well. I found myself cracking up a bit too loudly while watching. I liked that the love triangle/square wasn't as intense as other HK Dramas. I find myself getting worked up sometimes watching other HK drama but this one didn't do it to me. I would watch it again.

Apparently, this drama is based on Jin Yong's novel, The Deer and the Cauldron. **BTW he's got a lot of awesome wuxia novels.
I grew up on TVB Dramas, so yes I was familiar w/ the cast. This was the first time I've seen Wong Cho Lam, and he did a great job. Normally, you'd want the lead to look handsome and what-not but it was refreshing that he was just funny and great at acting (I guess think Bobby Au and Evergreen Mak). Overall funny drama. I even told my mom to watch this one.

I love TVB dramas, they're like my guilty pleasure. With more and more mainland productions with amazing actors, costume, directors, cinematography, of course you see why TVB dramas have been LACKING. TVB likes to reuse the same actors, as well as the same formula with their dramas and this one falls into that category. The story revolves around our four main characters. Ming But (By Bobby Yeung) is a roaming street performer, that moves around with his adopted family. They get caught up in a murder-scandal involving an official, thus the official secretly tells the guards to "kill" off his family. He ends up in a hotel and switches outfits with Kiu Bo Lung (Evergreen Mak) causing KBL and his father to get caught in a fire. KBL loses his memory and his father passes away. MB finds out what happens, and decides to honor them (he feels guilty for causing their deaths) and pays for a burial and assume KBL's identity. MB finds out that KBL has been offered a position to help with the imperial dance troupe, and the top school gets a bonus of GOLD (lots of it). Greed takes over, so he continues to assume the identity of KBL. Meanwhile, the real KBL makes his way into the same city and ends up working in the school (first as chef then a music director), while trying to remember his past.
Linda Chung plays the role of Bin Yuk Yin, a FAMOUS dancer that has the capabilities of being the new primadonna of the dance troupes. The primadonna of the year gets the option of marrying into the royal family, or gets the title of princess. She wants to win back her family fame, as her father was a famous general. Myolie Wu places Lei Tsoi Shan, the girl that delivers firewood. She lives in the city and grows up rugged. Her mom guilt-trips her into becoming a dancer to "find her father."
The four have their lives intertwined, as KBL is betrothed to BYY but, BYY believes her betrothed is the fake KBL. Meanwhile real KBL tries to figure out why he has such intense feelings for BYY. LTS ends up butting heads with fake KBL and the two fall in love, thus causing a rift between BYY and the fake KBL (whom she assumes is her future husband).
The pairings in this drama is off between our actors. I thought the ladies were much too pretty for the guys. But their interactions were pretty funny and some parts touching.
As mentioned, this fits the formula with TVB dramas. Of course there can't be a drama without DRAMA. Some are very predictable, like when LTS gets framed for trying to upstage BYY so the two ladies are no longer besties and hate each other, but you're watching and you're like NOOOOOO it was the other girl, *shrug*
Overall, it was a-ok drama I happened to find. It was entertaining, as I had nothing else to watch. lol. I wouldn't watch it again.

The acting was great. I liked all the leads in this series. This is my first time seeing Aarif and Sophie in a drama. I thought they did really well! Aarif's character is suppose to be stoic and serious. But when he smiles, wow! Sophie was great with her range of emotions so it wasn't like watching two walls.
Overall I really enjoyed this drama and I will try to find more dramas with the actors here.

I've read the reviews on this drama.... A lot of them were not nice lol. I can see why. I know where were controversy about time-travel, so I get it they had to make a lot of cuts out of this drama. However, the plot was messy. Like who wrote this? When I was watching I questioned how the actors felt with the plot twists in this drama. I only watched this because I was in a show-hole and wanted to see what happened with our lovable characters, and how did they turn out? Did they tie it in with the original Scarlet heart? Are there easter eggs? Who made cameos?!
Well, it turned out our OTP was in a crazy love-triangle-square mess, involving a long-lost twin! They didn't really tie it in, there was a lot of paintings of Kangxi and references to Kangxi. I think besides Jack, I didn't see anyone else make cameos that were worth noticing.
Overall, this is a really bad drama unless you're bored!

The story was very intriguing. It was so magnetic, I found myself binge watching until 3am. Eek! It had me hooked, there were little parts where I fast forward, but overall the story and plot was great. I liked the buildup for each character, and it wasn’t drawn out.
The acting was magnificent. I’ve only seen Yang Zi in Noble Aspirations, and hated her in that drama but when I read the synopsis, I was like oh wow she’ll be perfect because she was so stoic faced, but this drama brought out a very cute side to YZ. I also liked our two male leads, both very eye-catching and cute!
Music – no idea what the lyrics were, but I liked the music and felt bad only watching on mute at times.
Cinematography was amazing. I watched is on Netflix so the quality was amazing, I recommend watching in high quality if possible. The outfits, shots, and set were done nicely.
I liked the ending, and how it incorporated our main characters. I liked the side characters too, such as Mr. Puchi, Fox Fairy and Mr. Hu. I would take a part two of this movie, if those three were involved. The ending leads us to believe there’ll be a part two, perhaps involving the kids of our main lead.
I'm definitely rewatching this, it's up there next to 10MPB

The Investiture of the Gods

The Investiture Of The GodsWhat does investiture even mean? It means the action of formally investing a person with honors or ranks. I only defined the definition after watching this drama, and now I’m like Oooooooooh, that makes sense.
This drama follows Jiang Zi Ya (Sammul)’s journey as becoming a student of Taoism. His teacher is the highest ranking, almost god-like. His main objective is to topple the evil Emperor and help the king of the Western Region to become the new emperor. This is already written in the book, as fate and is suppose to happen (I guess eventually?), but he is to aid this. In the meanwhile, Nu Wa Goddess assigns three deities (9 tail fox, wild chicken, and flute) to go and distract the evil emperor to bring down his reign. They’re also to find the man carrying the Nu Wa stone (Jiang Zi Ya) and assist his task to make the western king emperor. Unfortunately, the 9 tail fox falls in love with the evil emperor, and also they mistakenly follow Jiang Zi Ya’s disciple brother as the person with the Nu Wa stone. Throughout the drama, the 4 lackies that went astray of their mission, fights with Jiang Zi Ya and his crew of fighters. Throughout the drama, Jiang Zi Ya is able to to gather a number of skilled fighters onto the Western Region, as well as getting married, and solving problems for many of the characters introduced into this drama.
The story was intriguing, but also cheesy. Some of the scenes were SUPER annoying. I liked the side arch of Na Zha and how he is born after his mom carries him for 3 years and 6 months, and how his dad is always wary of him and wants to make sure he does the right thing. Jiang Zi Ya’s wife is hilarious and the relationship with Na Zha is very cute. Ma Zhao De is hilarious as Jiang Zi Ya's crazy wife, she gets into so many antics, and at times you just wanna scream at her to grow the f- up, but she doesn't lol. I do enjoy the scenes with her sometimes, as she's the comic relief. It's touching to see Jiang Zi Ya's love blossom with her.
I believe this drama also incorporates many legends/stories in Chinese mythology/history. For example the story of Na Zha (being born after his mom's pregnancy lasts 3.6 years), or the story of the hunter and wolf demon (becoming best friends after one rescues the other).
The costumes are really cheesy and flashy. I'm not sure if this was a early Mainland drama or a HK drama, but they're flashy! The cinemetography is nothing like the new dramas, but the fight scenes were on point.
Overall, I wouldn’t want to watch this more than once.

.Story: Grace Chan is Wong Tai-Mui a HK Police Officer that helps save a tycoon from being kidnapped (several times), she's very "black/white" with her ideals. For example, all bad guys are bad guys, regardless of what they're doing. You'll see her change her views as she goes back 200 years into the Qing Dynasty. When she goes back into the past, she gets into all kinds of antics, including trying to pair up her great great grandparents (because the weren't going to come do it on their own). She also joins the pirates and helps them fight against the Qing Dynasty, and then gets the pirates to try join the Qing government. Huge plot twists in this drama.
Acting: I thought acting was good, it wasn't the BEST I've ever seen but thought it was good because it fits the story. I really like Grace Chan playing Wong Tai Mui, I think it's funny they play off the fact that she looks foreigner, so many times they referred to her as the Western Girl and even asks if she's part white and if her mom loved a white man.
Tony Hung is hilarious as Cheung Po-Tsai. I liked him from the get-go and it's great seeing his character develop. I especially thought he was funny when he got transported into the modern realm.
Ruco Chan does a great job as Prince Man Ho with his serious role. He ends up being quite loving, and likeable. He has a great face for playing a prince, or even if they re-do old wuxia classics. I found him to be quite handsome in historical costume.
There's a few cameo's in here at the end when they bring in the Qing dynasty characters, as modern folks. They don't play the same characters, just happen to pop up at the end (perhaps their descendants).
Raymond Wong who was suppose to originally play Cheung Po-Tsai pops up at the end, and we even see Evergreen Mak pop up in here at the end too. I believe he played a character with the same name in another drama.
Overall, great drama with cute ending.
Note: There are things that bug me about this drama, like the how fast Wong Tai-Mui's character switches love interests. I just wasn't sure who she would pick, and am still perplexed with how fast people move on in this drama. But perhaps because Wong Tai-Mui had a rough relationship at the start, and she's a strong independent woman she don't need no man she moved on fast? If you've seen this drama and would like to chat, feel free to message or comment. :)

Mystery of the Twin Swords

Basically the back story is that, Good and Evil has always been battling. The representative of the good side (heaven) was Ah Yat's father. His nemesis, the devil king, jealous that he can't possibly win a fight, impregnant Ah Yat's mom with his own demon seed, and plots that when the boys grow older they'll have the most epic show-down because the Good son will probably hesitate to kill his own brother. The devil king and Ah Yat's father have a showdown, which the Devil King gets locked away in a cave, and Ah Yat's father and mother pass away.
Years later the boys grow up along side their adoptive mother, and their sister Kieu Kieu (**I watched in Vietnamese, so I don't know the Chinese). The three are quite comical, and often get into trouble and fights with each other. The three pretty much tear apart the little village, beneath the mountain, with their antics. Throughout the drama, they'll be introduced into several characters Thanh Thanh (Ah Yat's girlfriend), Yen Phien Thien (Their awesome martial arts friend), and many more characters. Thanh Thanh is a pretty violent/bossy girl towards Ah Yat, but he still tries to pursue her. Yen Phien Thien is a hit-man and the two brothers ask him to teach them martial arts, the three get into a lot of trouble in casinos (by scamming people). Throughout the funny stuff, there are several arcs where they all face the devil king's minion.
This drama is from the 90's so the CGI sucks on today's TV. It's also quite goofy. But it's a great drama and really showcase all the actors. Roger Kwok and Dicky Cheung were REALLY handsome when they were young. If you get a chance to watch this drama, it's pretty good.

Besides the long drawn out drama, I really enjoyed the set of this movie (all the backdrop stuff) and the costumes. I believe I read online that the costume maker for Lord of the Rings worked on here, so there are very familiar hair pieces and ears.
It's a great fantasy drama, but as mentioned too long.

I felt all the emotions in this drama!
Wow, I hardly watch modern dramas (maybe I should start). This one was so cute, aggravating, exciting, sad and romantic. I felt all the emotions while watching this drama. I was up at 3am binge-watching this (even though I worked the following day LOL). I'm a fan of Dilireba & Deng Lun, and seen their later work, and will add this drama to the list of LOVES! - I scanned the comments under this drama, and found a lot of people DIDN'T like this drama, not sure why. I found myself skipping different parts around episode 43-45, but the rest of it. I liked it. I even liked that they had thrown in anime influences, as well as ancient/costume drama influences (in the dreams).Story/Plot: I loved the plot that Qi Qi who is a silly/naive/crazy girl who was heartbroken, then starts obsessing over her "idol" Bo Hai. Qi Qi ends up signing up to be a participant in a sleep study, and her bracelet malfunctions allowing her to enter Bo Hai's dreams - where she shows off her imaginative side. Due to her obsession, she gives up her hard work of being a vet to pursue a career as a florist just to get closer to him. She is very personable and imaginative, compared to Bo Hai who is an introvert and awkward. Qi Qi has been trying to gain entrance as a florist to "Flower Plus" for three years, and has failed each time due to Bo Hai's friend Xin Yan (who has a crush on him). She ends up being hired as a salesperson, in which she shows off her skills and ends up being Bo Hai's assistant. The two somehow make it work because they slowly fall in (and out) of love with each other. This drama's "love story" was one of the best I've seen in a while. Qi Qi starts off as crazy fan girl, then backs off, but then slowly you see Bo Hai letting down his guard. Once the two begin "dating" it's SO CUTE. Every time they kissed in this drama, I couldn't help but cheese for Qi Qi! Of course, this drama also displayed a lot of heartbreak as well. Bo Hai had abandonment issues, and his enemy (Qi Qi's bestie Mo Nan) used this weakness to plot against him. Qi Qi ends being used as the sword that breaks Bo Hai and causes him to relive his trauma 3. The two eventually find each other again, and rekindle their love. It's so sweet. **MAJOR SPOILER ALERT ** I nearly died/cried at the end when I thought Bo Hai died.
Acting: I loved it. I thought Dilireba and Deng Lun pair-up was fantastic. Their kiss scenes were not as bland as other c-drama kiss scenes I've seen. I mean, I wish she gave this much effort with Vengo in Eternal Love 2! I love all of our supporting actors in here, even the minor support cast. Bo Hai's besties are a hoot, and I'm glad they end up falling for each other. Qi Qi's bestie Baoni and Mo Nan, I wish it mentioned if they got together or not. Qi Qi's parents are also so funny and a great comedic relief. Her mom is constantly gossiping with the neighbors, and always trying to find Qi Qi a rich man. I love that they were also so welcoming to Mo Nan even after he was exposed as doing so many shiesty things.
Overall, I'd watch this again. I really liked the scenes between Dilireba and Deng Lun, especially after they fall for each other. It was so romantic and lovey-dovey. I want to see more dramas with them together!

I enjoyed this drama. I think the characters are well developed, even all the side characters. The relationship of Bai Zi Hua and Hua Gian Gu reminds me of Yang Guo & Xiao Long Nu. Everyone misunderstands them, and condemns them, and in the end they cannot admit they love each other. I was BAWLING my eyes out, crying in the last two episodes. But it was refreshing to see the ending here. The other characters in this drama are complex. A lot of them ended up in misery, due to their own doing and obsessions. I can name several characters that caused their own downfall. Another refreshing aspect is that this drama doesn’t have ONE main antagonist. I was trying to predict the ultimate bad guy in the end, but was surprised about how it went about & how in the end the “bad” sect turned good!
Overall, it's a pretty good drama. I cried, I laughed, and binged watch this. I felt Zanilia and Wallace didn't have too much chemistry/romance because their characters were probably not allowed to. Even in the end, I didn't feel "it." But still an enjoyable ending.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but at the end does it sound like Sha Qian Mo would come back, maybe a season 2?
