It's something....
Back then when they dared to try something different to varying degrees of success. It's not fair to compare this to The X-Files, they have nothing in common other than sharing a similar genre. Anyway, the drama was a mixed bag, some cases were better and more interesting than others. The main story that was progressing in the background wasn't well fleshed out to tie everything together and the ending was just okay. The performance of the cast was alright, nothing major but some scenes lacked the effort.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
If only....
I really appreciate its style but the plot was sacrificing way too much in favor of its supposed black comedy. Sure the drama had its high moments where the comedy really shined but the endless 12 episodes chase was exhausting and poorly executed. At least there's more to like about it, the drama had a good selection of soundtracks that amplified its stylistic moments. I wish this drama was a movie, it would have been a lot more fitting for what it had to offer. Was gonna be a flop....
A very strong contender for the worst medical drama. The equivalent of filming two patients' beds and calling it a "hospital". From the very beginning they did such a poor job in setting building that it's constantly sticking out in your face. To give a few examples: The hospital is completely dependent on a single skillful witch doctor that otherwise everyone would be dead without his witchcraft which eliminated any hierarchy in the hospital. The hospital had no rules, anyone can come and go as they please, anyone can get a patient into the operation room and perform a surgery and no one faces consequences to anything they do because writing such scenes would take more effort. The hospital management is non-existent, there's only one guy in charge (the bad guy Tae In Ho) with no one around him or beside him managing the hospital. Even worse, the actor is known for his side roles as a subordinate character so giving him a position in charge while lacking any intimidation and gravity to his character has ruined the role and killed the little tension the drama had. There are more examples to this lackluster hospital setting but these were the most obvious.However, if you managed to over glance the entire setting and just hyper focus on the main 2 leads then the drama is alright. The 2 main leads first encounter and the first episode had an abhorrent and despicable dynamic to watch on screen but, to my surprise, it got a lot better later on and turned out to be fun which was the only reason that saved the drama and made it watchable.

A sloppy mess for an interesting setting
It became quite apparent right off from episode 2 that this was a massive flop. The drama would have worked wonderfully and masterfully as a movie or at least as a 3-4 episodes short drama, otherwise, it's absolutely riddled with problems in its current condition and format. The unique setting and scenery weren't enough to help its case. It ingeniously transformed the art of storytelling into a chaotic, avant-garde mishmash of disjointed scenes that left me pondering the deep mysteries of life, such as whether the writers had ever heard of structured narrative or if they were just operating under the belief that plotlines are mere suggestions for lesser beings. Each plot twist, if one could even call them that, was a tantalizing leap into the abyss of narrative incoherence, leaving me on the edge of my seat not in anticipation, but in a desperate attempt to maintain my balance amidst the swirling vortex of plot holes and character motivations more elusive than a unicorn at a camouflage convention. I can't thank the creators enough for their valiant efforts to reduce character development to a cryptic crossword puzzle that nobody asked for, but we apparently all deserved, according to them. I wish to see better attempts going for a similar setting and theme from more competent creators. It's hard to recommend this drama unless you're a diehard fan of some of the cast members. Jun Ji Hyun disappearing for ~5 years then coming back with this project was nothing but a disappointment. Such a disappointment! It started off promising with an interesting premise but fell off shortly after. I hated how the story turned up to be by the end. The last 5 episodes of the drama were embarrassing, chaotic, and sloppy. They must've changed the writer! Anyway, seems like this is a common trend with OCN thrillers.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

It had a good concept and it started off actually decent but it derailed unbelievably hard and quick after episode 2. As If there was a switch flipped. It almost seemed as if the writer lost interest and handed over the wheel to an intern. The drama got seriously dumbed down to the nth degree and the cheese meter got turned to 11. The performance of the younger cast was weak, and the older cast seemed to take the easy way out, delivering lackluster performances for their relatively insignificant and undemanding roles. Cha Tae Hyun is usually good but somehow he's unable to show an expression other than him pouting all the time. The plot surrounding the villain was poorly developed and ended up being lame, as expected. The whole romance in the drama was nothing but childish. The portrayal of the police life was dull and uninteresting. The drama is a strong contender for the worst love triangle out there as well. Low effort bottom feeder
Just like any other drama where two brothers have an intense love triangle over a girl, except this one falls on the lower end of the spectrum. So you better off tune your expectations accordingly before going into it or just avoid it altogether.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Pain!
Amongst the worst, truly! Right from the end of the first episode, it was evident that its fate was sealed and the clock started ticking towards its inevitable demise. This is a complete package of pure manufactured junk, offering no redeeming qualities whatsoever. A waste of carbon emissions as well. At a certain point, it became impossible to pick itself up from the hole it dug. The storyline was utterly unappealing, lacking any semblance of creativity or intrigue. The script itself was shoddily constructed, replete with contradictions and nonsensical elements. Every single plotline ended up being underdeveloped. The characterization was equally inadequate, with every single character exhibiting pitiful and distasteful traits. The relationships portrayed in the drama were nothing more than childish and insipid, particularly the abhorrent love triangle/square/pentagon at the center of it all.I desperately need to to seek medical attention from a neurologist to check if I developed some kind of brain worms afterwards. I highly advice anyone reading this to stay away from the writer, Kim Ji Wan, he's built a reputation on fucking up royally so damn hard. His later projects after this one "That Sun in the Sky (2016) & The All-Round Wife (2021)" are a testament for that. My earlier points are repeated across the other projects as well.

The male lead reminds me of the male lead from Ugly Alert (2013), both competing in being the ultimate pacifist and masochist. Despite being introduced to a big cast with multiple stories and couples, the drama hard lock its focus on the main couples. However, the story ended early and the last 20-25 episodes were all dedicated to the side cast, going through them one by one in rotation. These episodes became the most bothersome since the drama didn't bother investing in the other couples early. They were always brushed off and now asking the viewers to care about them? Nonetheless, there were worse things to consider such as poor antagonists, weak conflicts and underwhelming climax. You can't compare it to Ugly Alert, that one is just infinitely better.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Had some potentials...
The amount of inconsistencies and plot holes was unbelievably grand. Rendering it exceedingly challenging and distracting to keep watching. Any semblance of suspense that the drama attempted to create was overshadowed by how easily predictable it was. However, Lee Yoo Ri pulling through as usual. It's a pretty light daily drama with multiple couples and low tension. Because of the low tension, there wasn't much happening, the progress was very slow in general, and it almost turned into a slice of life. There were plenty of small annoyances but there was one in particular that stood out the most and that's Bit Na's father. Her father, as we were introduced to him, a very virtuous man who doesn't stand wrong doings, yet, despite Bit Na being the "naughty" girl in the drama, we barely saw him on screen for his daughter and he almost never interfered in his daughter's affairs until it was too late to matter. Big missing opportunity to work on the father-daughter dynamic. Speaking of Bit Na, the actress Park Ha Na did a fantastic job in portraying her character, especially with that attitude. It had a decent start but...
Despite how messed up the trio Shin Ho was involved in, it would have been tolerable if the drama didn't favor them exclusively. The worst part about this drama is that it started good with a handful of diverse stories and lively cast but it quickly shifted towards Shin Ho's triangle while neglecting everyone's else, even the two leads in the poster became irrelevant later on.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Questionable adaptation
The drama lacked the Korean flavor in its adaptation from the original Japanese one. Usually when the source is Japanese, the adaptation will take the core idea and add its Korean spin but not in this one. This feels like it was fully produced by Japan but with Korean cast. From writing to dialogue, characters and editing, even the teaser at the very last scene. Speaking of the cast, this is Kim So Eun worst performance, I've seen from her other roles and she's usually better than this, I don't why she's like that here.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

The cast did their best. Good concept but meaningless and tasteless execution. The drama does nothing but stating the obvious "the water is wet". They tried to shove in a handful of backstories for various characters to make it more like a "drama" but that backfired, it came across as if the writer trying to force sympathy. Not a good work-place drama! On an unrelated note, what's up with the extreme skin smoothing filter? Checked both WEB and TV versions and it's the same thing. It's okay...
Too much time wasted on the love triangle/square while the terminal illness was brought to attention way too late. It's definitely one of the weaker tearjerkers. The earlier parts were funny and interesting but I couldn't bring myself to like the later parts, they were so dry and bland. The drama didn't do a good job in portraying that deep connection needed for any tearjerker drama. On the other hand, I was glad to see Kang Hye Jung in a 1st main lead. It's a rarity in her short career, usually it's either 2nd lead or support.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
