Forgettable cutness and fluff
Well, this was ....watchable? A cute school romance, nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately!Maya is considered ugly in her school and when she confesses to her crush she is violently rejected. When the school heartthrob sees her unhappy, he offers to help her get over her crush by pretending to be in love with him. And it works better than they could have imagined!
First: Maya is not ugly. The actress is very pretty and I checked the manga as well, she is not ugly there either. So I guess my western eye cannot understand the japanese notions of beauty. Maya is rejected because she is considered ugly by a boy who is actually ugly: both inside and outside.
Second: it took me some time to understand the point of playing the unrequited love game with the school top popular boy. It was his a bit sneaky way to get her to know him better because he had already noticed her before and wanted to get closer to her. I found this very weird but then again teens are not known to have smart ideas when hormones are raging!
Third: it is a shame that japanese mangas do not do cross overs. Sometimes in the last third there was another possibility of romance was hinted but unfortunately it rested on the bromance level. That would have been a surprising twist giving this film an edge. But, well, maybe next time? In my dreams...
The film has no depth either of characters or the plot. As usual when based on a manga, these teens have no parents present. The school is not too harsh an environment and Maya seems to be coping well with repeated humiliations (as in she does not really care or she cares for about 5 seconds!). Some people complained about the lack of expressiveness in ML but I did not mind his unmoving, stony face: he was supposed to be high above others, a king on his throne, unreachable and difficult to get close to and understand.
This film is a cute and forgettable piece of fluff, a perfect Sunday watch!

Me gustó mucho
HistoriaLa trama me parece genial.
Musica
No recuerdo ningún tema especial.

Peak indie toku
A genuinely staggering piece of independent tokusatsu filmmaking, Ork is a truly touching look into loss and self-destruction combining the aesthetics of Kamen Rider and the stylings of Shinji Higuchi. If I hadn't known that this was shot entirely on an iPhone I would have genuinely mistaken it for something we often see produced by professionals. It's absolutely beautiful in its imagery, gorgeously crafted, deeply emotional, evocative stunningly choreographed and elaborately staged, not letting any of its limitations hold it back. Wonderfully acted and backed by an incredible score, Ork really has opened my eyes to the wider scope of indie tokusatsu filmmaking. I can see these guys going far, I hope they make another one.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
It Delivers Light-Hearted, Unpretentious Storytelling and Palpable Chemistry Between BarDa
Why You Should Watch It Now1. It showcases the undeniable & sizzling ✨ chemistry between Barbie and David that joyously ? transcends from TV to the big screen. Even the seniors in the cinema where I watched it can't help but giggle whenever they have confrontation scenes. ?
2. It's a romantic ? comedy that serves on point yet very tense?and butterflies-in-the-stomach inducing conversations between the main leads - you would wish you were there in the scene with them. ?? The yacht scene is my favorite. I wish Adam and Mila would stay in that yacht until they produce 12 kids together. ? ?
But, seriously, that yacht-long conversation scene can make your heart tremble and your knees weak. ? David has really mastered the subtle acting art. Every nuance, expression, gesture, and vocal delivery of someone who's falling in love - HE BLOODY NAILED IT.
3. Barbie Forteza wears so many beautiful dresses ? in this movie. She officially ended ? her teen-girl persona era while she struts around wearing all those chic and fashionable outfits.
4. Some scenes are filmed in South Korea. ? They added a more romantic ambiance ✨ to the whole story.
5. No villains, no side stories, the whole movie is all about how love finds Adam and Mila. ?
6. No poverty porn! Yes! It depicts the Philippines positively, showing affluent places and decent working and dwelling spaces for the female lead. I hate it when Filipino movies keep on showcasing poverty porn.
My only complaint is that it's TOO short despite being a 2-HOUR-PLUS LONG movie. I wanted more. It's BITIN! It's not enough for me ? ?

The story writing has to be better than this
A standard disaster survival formulaic that bears a lot of similarities to their own Korean counterpart, everything feels too familiar and predictable, done with just a different set of creatures and characters. The setting is surely not a problem, to execute this brilliantly it requires top quality writing, but the emotions just don't hit so well in here, not to mention about the plot holes that are hard not to notice, action sequence is acceptable though it looks too much of a setup on purpose. As one of the two final films of the late actor Lee Sunkyun, his performance is respectable and it will be remembered in the legacy of his works.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Contrary to my expectations, it’s not that bad. First the actions, I appreciate it. They use continous shot a lot. This is really hard to take. And for non continous shot, the action and reaction is well filmed, so the actions really flow, so to speak.
The weapon they use also varies, and the way they use gun is also quite exhilarating to watch. Ma dong seok is truly made for action. If you see the movie, his character can be said to be very efficient. Compared to jiwan who use lot of bullets, namsan makes sure he shot the head.
The plot, as people says it’s not revolutionary, but it’s not bad. There are too many end-of-world movie these days that it’s hard to create something unique. But it’s true that I wasn’t able to be emotionally invested in the plot. No supposedly sad scene was able to make me cry. Well it’s normal, I don’t think the character even cried. I would’ve love if they put more effort in crafting emotional scenes.
The comedy is okay too. It didn’t make me laugh uncontrollably, but it did make me chuckle. I especially like the stepmother joke lol
I’ll add something about the gore. I don’t like gore and this movie didn’t bother me in that aspect. Even if the scene is considered gore, it moved fast. Since it doesn’t focus on the gore itself, it’s not sickening.
Another disadvantage this movie had, there’s almost no tension, where you’re scared the main cast gonna die or something bad gonna happen to them, since ma dong seok character nam san is too invincible. He doesn’t really face meaningful obstacle that can threaten him. This is common problem a lot of action movies face.
When physical obstacles can’t be added since the character is set to be invincible, they should’ve added emotional obstacles.
They should just kill someone in the main cast. That emotional explosion would be good. I would have cried if ji wan died.
It doesn’t feel that rewatchable so I want to put 7.5 rating… but I don’t wanna lower rating of lee junyoung work so I’ll put 8 ?

Recommend watching the original
I know these tend to be pretty short but at 1 minute 24 seconds, this has to set some kind of record for being the shortest. I think checking out/skimming the synopsis of either the original or any of the various adaptations would be very helpful in providing a context for this. Aiye is gorgeous as the demon and I think considering the runtime, their chemistry was good. I would definitely watch a longer show with this specific pairing. I will say that this felt a little more erotic than usual though that's a very VERY low bar.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

a beautiful but heart wrenching story
This was a beautiful movie. Tho the story was predictable but there's a part of me hoping that they will get better and live together. But here I am crying like an idiot ??This had me crying at 3 am. I'm so sad because they didn't even get the chance to confess their feelings to each other in person AAHH they deserve so much better !! The fact that she pretended not to know about him being sick ? The letter she posted just for him and the 3 gerberas !! PLS THAT SCENE TOOK ME OUT. They're literally meant for each other because wdym even the dates of their deaths are the same ?! The fact that she called his name for the last time but he was not there ?? PLEASE MY HEART IS ACHING FOR THE BOTH OF THEM. Well, I hope that they can watch the fireworks together, draw & paint each other, and marry each other in another life :) Ayuka was the witness to their pure love for each other <3
For those who are reading this: Don't lose hope. Life may be hard but it won't always be cruel. Even if you might think that ending everything is the only option, there is still hope. There are people who genuinely care about you. You're not alone ! I'm rooting for your happy life that is full of love <33

Him & Her & Him....teens going overboard!
Unexpectedly good! I kept reading how the series is bad, limit child abuse so I never watched it but this film came highly recommended. And they were right! It is a fluffy little school romcom where the plot thrives on misunderstandings and the qui-pro-quo's! Basically it is a love triangle: Boy 1 likes a Girl but he thinks she likes Boy 2 who thinks Boy 1 likes him because he spends a lot of time trying to get to know him. In the process Boy 1 really falls for Boy 2 in a surprising ending!
The actors are so cute and considering their young age, they act rather well, with an excelling comic timing solid chemistry. Which is, of course accompanied by usual, annoying sound effects and a cliché screeching trans teacher. When are they going to portray trans characters as ordinary people and not as drama queens in these series?
There are many hilarious scenes (going to emergency room after swallowing a piece of paper) but the best is the Boy 2's mother who speaks and moves slowly as if she had just smokes some illicit stuff and therefore has a very fertile imagination!
The drama seems to be a rip-off of Kieta Hatsukoi (which I never really liked!) rife with similar kid of misunderstandings and a drama club antics which are funny but surprisingly not over the top like in the japanese drama!
If you a looking for a light and fluffy short BL that is easy on the brain and very easy on eyes, this is a nice choice! It is well produced and filmed, the narration is quirky and it puts the watchers in the right mood!

Dramat!

Its fun
Thsi was a cute concept for a plot and i liked the actors. Im slowly catching up on bls from Japan and I really liek all the ones I have seen so far. Apparently this one did well enough to wgy a remake already but I prefer watching originals becasue im usually disappointed in remakes they rarely have the same spark the original series or movie has. I think this is a good series and if your looking for a bl with a good plot not just more bls with bad plots relying on NC to get veiws you will probably like this.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Thank God they made a remake
Mn, I don't like it.Of course I like the plot,- but I don't like Kohei's character here.
He's acting like a Gadis Manja menggerutu; idk how to say that in English, mn..... a spoiled girl who always grumbles??!? (he's doing it with his eyes, + he also has a judgmental gaze).
He reminds me of Ji Hyun from Eight Sense
I'm so glad they made a remake because~
If this was the only adaptation of 'Hidamari ga Kikoeru,' I might never have thought to read the manga bcoz i think, this...... is..... bad.!
The series version, which is still airing now, is so good; they made it exactly like the manga.
We can also see how Kohei develops his feelings for Taichi. We don't get that in this film, and it's not because of the limited duration.
Here, Kohei looks like he was born- ummn Gay?
There is no state where he considers his feelings for Taichi, whether it is love, like pure friendship, or romantic love-love.?!
In Here, he seems like a man who has never received attention and love in his life, then immediately falls in love with the first person who gives him that attention.
Ah, And you're delusional if you think they have chemistry here.
Go to check Delusion by One OK Rock.

Of loves between men and forbidden romances in the Forbidden City
'A Frozen Flower' (Ssang-hwa-jeom) is a historical drama set in the 14th century, in a time of war for power and palace intrigues in which the need to produce an heir forces Gong Min, the king of Goryeo , to make a decision that will have dramatic and unexpected consequences on himself and everyone around him.Faced with the discovery of a plot to assassinate him and seize the throne, the king must secure an heir, but here the conflict arises: the monarch has no pleasure in women and loves Hong Lim, his faithful general, the only person he accepts in his litter.
Given the circumstances, she decides that her lover takes his place in the queen's bed and fertilizes her, all under the greatest secrecy and discretion. And there the next problem arises: Hong Lim falls in love with No Guk, the queen, a role played by Song Ji Hyo ('The Witch's Diner'), despite being reluctant at first because he has never slept with a woman, but no. can disobey the king.
The grand historical setting and political plots are clearly overshadowed by the central story.
We are faced with a story of a king in love with his chief of the imperial guard, who has been instilled since childhood that one must please the king in every way. For that reason, he is shocked when he receives the king's order.
Neither the queen nor Hong Lim have a choice. They are puppets of royal power, so they obey without any other alternative. As in a kind of sacrifice, the queen has to have sex with a stranger. But here is precisely the key to the story: if she has never had sex, he doesn't know what it's like to have sex with someone of the opposite gender to his.
After the initial impact, both discover an unknown, unexplored sensual side. What at first is a repugnant obligation soon becomes a discovery of the senses that leaves the three completely perplexed.
A passionate and irresistible desire will push the queen and Hong Lim to face great risks, endangering both their loyalty to the king and their own lives in a story that grows in tension with each scene. And the king will not sit idly by and will explode in anger and seek revenge, because there is nothing that hurts a lover more than having what he considers his own taken from him, and even more so if you are the one in power.
Hong Lim is caught between his desire for the queen and his loyalty to the king. A simple misstep could be considered treason. And they both run this danger.
In my opinion, the female character is the one who bears the brunt, since in the end she loses the two men in her life who, although they never loved her, only used her. His only consolation, besides having loved, is the son he fathered.
Ranked 44th among the best South Korean films of all time, according to the FA rankings, the viewer will be struck by the explicit and realistic sexual scenes, whether between Jo In Sung in his role as Hong Lim, whom we remember for his tender and sweet image in the series 'Shoot for the Stars', with Joo Jin Mo ('Empress Ki'), an actor who plays the king, or between his lover and the queen. And in 2008, at the time of filming, all the romantic scenes in South Korean series and films had the characteristics of being very modest and subtle, more of suggesting than showing. Even today they are not free from this peculiarity, much less if it involves sex between men.
The topic of homosexuality and the love relationship between a king and a member of his imperial guard is not something new or unreal. Historical documents prove it. What is interesting about the film is the decisions that the lovers make and how these lead them to a tragic destiny. This is how the film explores other themes, such as the importance of decisions, the weight of carrying their consequences and regret (or not).
With three nominations for the Blue Dragon Film Awards (South Korea) in 2009, the director does an excellent job of obtaining facial and body expressions from the actors between the feminine and the masculine with total naturalness. The face of Jo In Sung will remain in cinema history as the king scorned and wounded in his self-love for the person he loves madly.
Based on a film text by the director himself, the South Korean filmmaker Yoo Ha, known for his work in films such as 'Gangnam 1970', 'Once Upon a Time in High School' and 'A Dirty Carnival', among others, the feature film recreates a love triangle between the king, his subject and lover, and the queen, or more precisely, a forbidden romance in the Forbidden City.
The film will soon make the viewer understand the complex situation that involves the three protagonists, and how it escapes the hands of the young couple involved, since, when she also falls in love with the head of the imperial guard, they will begin to have dates clandestinely behind the king's back, who, upon learning of the events, must intervene drastically, venting his fury like any jilted lover.
The king, in the end, lets himself be carried away by his obsessive love. Frustrated, more than by his inability to procreate a child, by having to share the body and heart of his lover, making him the villain, since Hong Lim will blame him for everything that happened.
In addition to the solid performances, the impeccable script and the magnificent direction, we must highlight the love story, the plot tension, the dazzling display of costumes, makeup, hair, very consistent with the time, and a full-blown art direction, in addition to a photograph, in the hands of Choi Hyun-gi, clear, luminous, even in closed and dark spaces, such as the lovers' darkened bedrooms, and perfect camera framing, all in order to embellish this historical fiction.
Kim Jun-seok's exquisite music, including diegetic music, that is, that performed by the protagonists themselves or the rest of the cast in public and private royal festivities and celebrations, introduces the viewer to that oriental world in which there is no shortage of combat with swords and other bladed weapons and martial arts fights.
'A Frozen Flower' is, in short, a film whose main theme is simply love.

A thoughtful and memorable movie
I’ve watched Overman movie for a while ago but I still remember it, most of scenes. The story is simple but thoughtful and the acting of the actors (Kim Jung Hyun) and actresses are great. The rhythm is not slow, it’s detailed. Though the female director seems making it for young people but actually “would we be able to be overman (the best version of ourselves) ?” I wonder. Sometimes I wanna to have courage like Choi Do Hyun and his friend, keep moving forward.
