Story: Richly-eventful.If there is an aspect here that is really outstanding, it's the story. The story was crafted in such a way that the audience will feel in somewhat roller-coaster ride while watching this show. There are a lot of unexpected twist and turns, I was captivated by the show's concepts of survival, betrayal, success, failure, devotion, love, patience, friendship, family and political hierarchy. A lot of events really shocked me but those kept me interested throughout. As I saw every episode, I want to go on, not to see what will happen or how it will end but because I want to answer a lot of questions on my mind. Conflicts within conflicts- that was the story was made in my opinion. Maybe complicated for some but that's what a really substantial story is about; that is for me. Plot-wise, this is an eye-opener, for most of the events did occur in the korean history. The romance was so great--it has the feeling of "love against all odds". A love story wherein the guy fell in love with the girl and the girl loved him too but the family doesn't approve-- I tell you, it's not only that. The ending was as I said earlier, really surprising, but it's happy okay? So watch it! :))
Acting/ Cast: Park Shi Hoo has always been my favorite but his performance here was amazing. This was the first drama I've seen him in historicals and he looked so dashing--as a member of royal clan or as a revolutionist survivor, he looked good! His portrayal as a main cast was done at its best, a lot of emotions had to be used, he showed them all splendidly. This was first drama that I've seen Moon Chae Won, and I can say that she's in great chemistry with the main guy. Her acting skills were also good,no complaints she's the main girl lead as her role portrayal had the same level as PSH. Don't belittle the supporting cast because a lot of my emotions were highly used to them, mostly was hate, there are a lot of antagonists here. I was mostly sad for PSH and MCW. Omo! Again, this is a happy ending,okie okie? hehe:)
Music: Powerful. Watch the first episode and you'll know. The story and the music- a perfect match, it's so good.
Rewatch value: Most of the time I don't rewatch but maybe sometime I'll try to do so.. :)
Overall: A great show which will leave you a really strong impression, if you haven't watched, you can try this one now. :)

STORY------ 10/10 I find this story very interesting, I like the fact that the writer actually adapted most of the scenes from the original Japanese manga (MARS by Furumi Soryo, 1996, if you haven't read it yet I recommend that too you'll be amazed at the resemblance) back to the story line one of the scenes that I was pointing it were the opening where Qi Lo and Ling met and a lot more I won't be a spoiler. It's unpredictable in some way, I kind of didn't know how the story will unfold and what is background of each character until it was revealed in the series itself. The topics touched in this series is a very complicated mix, highly dramatic from family problems to even as grave as rape and suicide. Although it still had some of the usual cliches, I'm giving it a 10.
ACTING/CAST ------10/10
This is a turnaround from how I first saw Barbie and Vic (Meteor Garden) she still had the same hair though, I like the timid side of Barbie and the more arrogant yet lost soul Vic was in this drama. I think he also gained weight here, which is better. The other supporting roles were great.
MUSIC -----10/10
I love the soundtrack,very well placed songs, if it's a cute lovey dovey scene you'll feel the lightness of the scene from the song. If it's those scary psycho turnarounds, It's scary alright. Just listen to it and the intro Very STRONG SONG.
REWATCH VALUE ------ 10/10
I'm giving this a high rewatch value, you just get pulled by the drama. The love for the characters and that Ducati man it's just nice to watch over again, even the struggles that they have it gets you back to see it again.
OVERALL ------ 10/10
Overall it's a 10! although it's a bit old considering it was aired 2004, it's still a great all in all. Something highly recommended.

I had read several claims about this show and I feel like it was a little overplayed. I didn't quite get everything I expected out of this series but nonetheless I was satisfied with the thought-provoking episodes and heartwarming moments. I found the humor in this to be particularly funny and I found myself laughing out loud several times.
I wouldn't say I was addicted to this series, as I tossed back and forth between this and 2 others at the same time. Though I would be more than willing to revisit this series once more. A great story and great cast just felt short-lived in my opinion. Hoping the second series can quench my desire for more; and so far it has.

I felt goosebumps all over several times and I was even inspired a few times. This show is great for someone looking for an innocent love story, the "get together and break up then back together" story line most of these dramas portray was either not found or felt by me in this drama. I felt the actress really played her role well, it was elegant. That was, until I hit episode 10, I literally got so frustrated I just turned it off and walked away. A spur of the moment decision made me decide to finish episode 10 and move onto the final episode, 11. I am glad I did, the last episode was not a let down. I was lifted and thrilled as I watched the last episode, as corny as it may have been, the way they ended it was just so ironic I loved it. I really am glad I finished it.

Although some may say this drama was too emotional I believe that its a good thing, these kids went from fighting over nothing to fighting for their dream. I feel that this movie struck every chord that I expected and even hit some key points that I didnt expect. The tone of the movie switches well and I have to admit that I seriously stayed up at night telling myself "only one more episode." This drama is in my top 10.

This series had one of my top 3 favorite actors in it and he played his role well. I was in sync with every emotion this drama tried to convey. I regret not watching it earlier in fact, this series is a favorite. The cast was PERFECT; each playing their part to the full potential, though I had my doubts all the characters really developed and you got to see each character grow up in a sense thanks to the actors.
I found the ending to be a tug-of-war as far as my stance on it. I really liked most aspects of the ending, just a couple things I wish would have gotten tied off.
Over all very impressed, like I said I wish I had broken down and watched this series earlier. I had been watching a couple others on and off but from episode 1-9 I kept going, I didn't break for another series. Give this one a shot, even if you thought it wasn't your type I was in the same boat and really think you will be just as glad you decided to give this one a watch as I was.

Akiyama, and his "enemies" all were very appealing but once again sitting through Kanzaki Nao's failures that made the "sure win plan" fail was painful. With Akiyama's quick and creative responses the pain was only short lived. A top 5 for sure.

I found this drama to actually be very good, it had suprises and kept you on your toes. I really would have liked to have seen more baseball action, even if it stretched out the series, but overall I was very pleased with this drama.
I watched this between Call of Duty and hanging out with friends, it was a nice filler for time and made you get that warm feeling in your stomach.

I was very pleased with the outcome as I hadn't really read up much on reviews for this series and just took a gamble with the summary. The action was very well played out and the slow scenes didn't make you want to gouge out your eyes. It was easy transitions that kept you interested in what was going to happen next.
Though the whole falcon flying through to the zone was unappealing and probably the most boring part of the series but it added its own signature touch that others may feel unique and creative. This drama made one feel the unbearable emotions that the characters themselves felt, the actors did an excellent job in this one and hit home with the audience in a top-notch performance.
When I revisit this series, and I definitely will in the near future, I look forward to coming back to this review and revising it as I see fit. Overall I found this drama to be in my top 10 and with one of the best action dramas I have seen yet

I'm a big fan of this kind of drama cause i know in the end it will have a happy ending.. it makes me escape to the reality for a while and it makes me feel that love is always around. :)

It takes a few episodes for you to start finding the plot but once it kicks off it's a great drama.
I've gone from fangirling and going "awww" to wanting to stab the characters with a fork to a facepalm to laughter and then to anticipation in the course of one episode.
I've caught up on all the episodes that are currently available and I am always in anticipation for the next one.
This is definitely a drama I have and will continue to recommend.
You just have to get past the first few episodes.

I thought the actors where good, there was some awkward acting but it was understandable. I really liked the sound track and it wasn't too dramatic like most dramas so i guess it was good.

-Kiyoshi Kurosawa's films have always had a wonderfully surreal and eerie pitch to them, and the same goes for this TV mini-series. If you didn't know, there'd be no way to tell this was a TV show rather than a film.
-The cast is excellent, no exceptions.
-The premise and format of Shokuzai is highly intriguing: Five grade-school girls are good friends. One is abducted and murdered. Each subsequent episode reveals how this event screwed up all of their lives in completely different ways.
-The plot-line is highly suspenseful and unpredictable. One never knows what exactly is happening with each individual storyline or the overarching plot until near the end of each episode.
Negative thoughts:
-The show goes a bit too far into twisted and disturbing territory towards the end. I do immensely enjoy tragic and disturbing stories, and Shokuzai succeeded in this aspect for most of its duration, but by the end of the show it feels like the show starts becoming as twisted and disturbing as possible merely for the sake of it.
-Nearly every male character is either deranged or evil.
Overall thoughts:
I've always been more partial to Korean dramas, but Shokuzai has launched me into the Japanese drama scene, particularly WOWOW's mini-series'. Great show, and I hope to find more like it.
