Super Fun At The Beginning But Unnecessary Long And Draggy At The End

If is not for "decent" early episodes, I might give it less than 7.0 rating.
Yeah, it should have less episodes, less couples, and less repetitive storylines especially Bohn jealousy. Unnecessary camp drama at the end too (at this time, my only thought was "my god, just end the series already!"). Mek/Boss story just simply boring, no chemistry - Like hello, King's sister was far more interesting than this couple despite she just a typical fujoshi kind of character. Her present just stole the scene completely!

All in all,
Yes to early Bohn/Duen is good, no to later
Mek/Boss boring
Ram/King are the only couple worth watching
Frong/Thara exists for what purpose again?

Watch for Ram and King

I'll be honest I was ready to drop this series halfway because most of the couples were not very interesting or entertaining, however the side couple of Ram and King made all the difference. I ended up skipping everything except their parts. And I got to say, I'm glad I did because that couple ended up being so cute and interesting that it was worth getting to see their scenes all the way through to the end. If they ever decide to make a season 2 I hope they star as the main couple! Especially with how it ended.

I could not get enough of all the leads in this drama. Polar opposite meeting, bickering and coming together. I am looking forward to seeing Bohn/Duens relationship. But I need Ram/King to get their crap together. They broke my heart at the end. Looking forward to viewing My Engineer season 2.
This drama is a must watch…it’s light hearted, funny and you feel for Bohn and his mistakes. You feel for Ram and his quietness…but comes at you with his manly strength (don’t mess with people he cares about).

In one word... Yuck!

There are 4 couples in this series, something like My Secret Love. But that's exactly where the similarities end. While My Secret Love was not exactly groundbreaking or fantastic, at least it had some sweet redeeming moments. But this drama is seriously flawed and absurd. I will split my review into story review (will contain spoilers), character analysis into 4 parts, for each of the couples, then music and miscellaneous.

STORY: Nothing new, falling rapidly into degenerative state. There is no plot at all after the first 4 episodes or so. It was decent to begin with. A senior gives a punishment to a junior. Bring a flower for me everyday, and in the process, let's fall in love. So all good. Starts of with a bang. And then fall flat. Because once the confession happens, it's same old, same old. I don't think I even write about anything, because each of the tropes are so done to death. I like the fact that the lead couple spoke about the whole forever problem of who is the 'top' and who is the 'bottom', but other than that, there is seriously nothing that is effective in this story!
#BossDuen: I can understand you are jealous that the person you like is talking to others, at least till the relationship is official. But once you are together, a little bit of faith is not too much to ask for, right? Boss is constantly jealous of Duen talking to anyone. I mean, what's with the level of jealousy? It's seriously so off-putting. And what's with the serious lack of physicality? I get that they are young. But they are college boys, for God's sake! And teenagers to boot! Can there be some PDA? Duen is so horrified by the thought of a physical touch that it is almost funny. He hates the notion of being touched. Was it the role that demanded it? Or was the actor seriously shy? Or was his family against it? They were the lead couple, for heaven's sake!! Okay, while I agree that a relationship doesn't need kissing or NCs, yes, but 0 affection, 0 softness, 0 PDA? Even Gemini and Fourth had more as Heart and LiMing in Moonlight Chicken. And I hate the fact that Duen keeps apologising all the time!! On top of that, if you are such a prude, do you really expect your boyfriend to just sit around and wait for you to grow up? And this, 'You allowed someone to kiss you, you don''t deserve me' trope is just annoying now. Please get rid of it. And their one sad encounter is the result of anger... Not happy at all.
#BossMek: No words. Mek has been in love with Boss forever. He just thinks that it's better to not say anything because, that way at least he will not lose his best friend. He sees Boss flirting with every girl possible and even getting into a relationship. But he continues to love him, even helping him to get his dream girl. But when Boss fails spectacularly and wallows in self-pity in front of Mek, things take a totally different turn, when Mek confesses, giving us the only kiss in the series. But at least their relationship is sweet, maybe because they have been friends for so long that the comfort level between them is amazing! Just one thing that was very jarring? Mek's voiceover or dubbing! What the hell was that? They ruined a halfway decent couple with that shit!
#TharaFrong: Not gonna lie. They bored me to death. Thara is weird AF. Final year medical student, picks up trash when stressed, keeps a lizard as a pet and rides a bicycle with a helmet on. Frong is always in this tsundere mode, kind of weird and totally cold. You can say he is worried about his mom, but still it got boring fast. Plus the couple started late in the day, so their chemistry didn't really live up to my expectations. I was hoping for something a little more mature, but alas, I was disappointed as hell!
#KingRam: Now that's what we call a couple. Ram is a complete introvert, hardly talks, except when he is with people closest to him. But slowly and steadily King pulls him out of his shell. Not that Ram starts talking nineteen to a dozen or something, but he does try to open up his heart to his senior. The amazing part is how well they understand each other. Even without him saying a word, King absolutely understands Ram, making it easy for him to open up to him and tell him his troubles. Though they never officially a couple, they are probably the closest and the easiest on the eye. And the sweetest. In the later half, I pretty much started to fast-forward just to watch them and their story unfold.

If you have not already watched it before, please don't. It's a humble request. Not worth it at all! 14 episodes of a series that could have been wrapped up in 8, waste of 6 episodes and our time!

4 rushed love stories mashed in to 1 series

This series does not have a coherent story at all and there is nothing anyone can say to convince me otherwise. Thank goodness I went into this with such low expectations that I was safe from disappointment. Why Oh Why would you try to cram 4 different love stories in to any series when you are well aware you wont be able to do justice to any one of them

Lets begin with the our main couple – Bohn and Duen
Bohn is a Senior Engineering student who is known to be ruthless towards his juniors. He meets Duen, a junior Medical student and due to an incident punishes Duen by asking him to buy a flower daily for 30 days. In the course of these 30 days Bohn and Duen fall in love with each other. I say “fall in love with each other” but what you see is far from it. Bohn has such an insecurity complex that if he even sees Duen talking to another guy, he rages and drags Duen out of there just to later end up apologising for his behaviour. In one scene after raging, he asks Duen to come home with him and I feared that he will tie him up in his house so that he doesn’t talk to anyone else. Duen on the other hand always acts as if Bohn is a friend. Doesn’t confess his love and always tries to push Bohn away whenever he tries to get close to him. This isn’t a love story. It’s a story about an insecure guy who keeps teasing his friend. On a side note, I have seen drunk people act, I have seen people acting drunk but what Duen did in episode 2 after a few drinks was nothing close to anything I have ever seen.

Mek and Boss
Boss teasingly always addresses Mek as his husband and himself as Mek’s wife. Unbeknownst to him though Mek has secretly been in love with him the whole time. Boss rather hits on every girl he lays his eyes on and finally finds a girlfriend thanks to Mek’s help. However, when he is forced to keep his distance from his budding idol girlfriend, he realises his feelings for Mek and they start a relationship. The only complaint I have with this love story is that it wasn’t explained well at all. There was a time where Boss tells Mek that he always interested in him. All this while actively pursuing relationship with other girls. It feels like he settled for Mek instead of being in love

Ram and King
This is the only love story that was managed well. Ram is a junior engineering student who keeps to himself and doesn’t talk to people who aren’t his family or friends. King, a senior engineering student finds Ram intriguing and tries to get close to him so that they can talk. Ram starts caring for King and this makes him fall in love with Ram. Ram on the other hand also starts developing feelings for King. I liked the character of Ram, someone who is stoic and not friendly but also a deeply caring individual. Good care is taken to show their love growing organically throughout the series reaching a significant point in the last episode.

Frong and Dr. Thara
There isn’t much of a love story here as till the final episode we just see Frong starting to develop feelings for Dr. Thara but there certainly is potential in this storyline as Dr. Thara is shown as someone who is innocent and simple whereas Frong is passionate showcased when he falls for Duen but warns Bohn to treat him well.

Although Season 2 was announced, it has been sometime and I don’t believe it will be picked up and that is just fine. The series ends on a god note where all the relations are highlighted and rest can be left to our imagination.

Give this one a try only for the characters of Ram and King and may be Frong and Dr. Thara. Rest all are just meh!

The BL with a good foundation

Alright, first time writing a review, I just try to be systematic and, though counterintuitive, objective on the matter. Fellow audience who wish to read this might want to bear in mind that all reviews inevitably contain subjective matter, and don't feel offended (if you are really offended).

Story / Plot: The plot contains little new insight or new idea. The plot is, however, fairly original. It is just the background that sounds like a cliché. There are students from the faculty of medicine and faculty of engineering, just as you would expect. One thing that I really appreciate is the equality for the different pairs. We all know there are main pairs, and of course the non-main pairs. The arrangement of the background of the show has made it possible that the screen can switch between different pairs without illogical transition (say, campsite and then someone’s home). With that being said, the progression of different pairs was smooth and well-executed. Even though conflicts happened (more often so, in the penultimate episode), the resolutions were also logical and plausible, proving that the screen time arrangement was really good. Let’s not miss the couples, though:

Bohn and Duen: I am not going to lie that these are the most eye-catching couple, for me at least (but that’s the issue of the cast). The start of the two is interesting, in a sheepish way, and would probably leave the more demanding audience unimpressed. It is worthwhile to note the point when Bohn started to like Duen and the point when Duen started to like Bohn. These two, however, were subjected to communication problems. As many people have pointed out, Bohn is too sensitive or too insecure, and this is shown by his action of suspecting Duen in multiple episodes. Duen, on the other hand, is pure (obviously) and fairly oblivious. Some also pointed out that Duen is not prepared for a relationship, as shown by his reluctance to a kiss from Bohn. All in all, we are sure, at least, that both are not the best prepared to get into a relationship. No one is perfect though, and in general I think the resolution of the two did sufficiently address these issues. Also, the issue of consent is depicted here, as Bohn did not kiss Duen when he does not want to, and this is a good thing to advocate.

Ram and King: The two are not the most eye-catching couple to me. However, I do have to admit that their characters (and the development) are really intriguing. Ram was eye-catching. The character of King was quite intriguing, and the planning team did not only give King the typical character of “protagonist’s friend”. Instead King has a phobia for dogs, and also a BL-infatuated sister (some said she was toxic, I prefer to think that she is comical enough to turn her actions as satirical rather than serious). Whereas the conflict between Bohn and Duen in the latter part of the show might be regarded as superficial, the conflict between Ram and King seems to be fundamental - that is, they have to sort out their feelings for each other. The relationship between them was not clarified even at the end of the show, and it seems likely that we will see them in Season 2.

Mek and Boss: The two attracted my attention in the latter part of the show. It is evident after only some episodes that we know Mek has a feeling for Boss, and Mek was often hurtful given that Boss always flirt girls. Later in the show, we know that Boss has a girlfriend (Fon), which certainly doesn’t look like a good thing in a BL show. Boss does have a recurring theme, and that is the fact that he was always being ignored. Whether this was meant to be comical or serious, it does give the feeling to many that there’s always the one friend who is being the clown of the group, yet receives little in reverse on his/her side. Mek confessed after Boss was being told off by Fon’s manager, which is in fact surprising. Even though the plot device of “the crush also crushes on me” was spotted, in general the scene is able to draw audience into it. The proclamation of Boss in the final episode was also nicely done, fulfilling at least the basic requirement of reconciling the two to a happy ending. (Notwithstanding the rejection, Fon accepted and there was no pleading or begging from any side, and I have to say this is very refreshing.)

Thara and Frong: Even though they grow from conflict, the interaction was smooth and well-articulated with the environment. Frong was originally interested in Duen, but decided to back off after knowing that Bohn is also courting Duen. We all know that two characters competing are bookishly dramatic, but removing so earns the show the reception of refreshing (OK, at least to me). And if some are trying to pick on the consent issue or other stuff, let’s not forget that appropriately backing off when the target has clearly expressed the lack of interest is a very healthy act and, really should be endorsed. Overall, the two achieved a lot with the screen time allocated to them, and this is all we could expect.

Cast: All the actors were great! Cooper (Bohn) is a versatile actor, and in this case he did portray the role of a playboy-turned-into-pure-boy adequately. (I have to confess that his constant eyebrow-raising in the show was charming, if not he himself, but that is too biased and is probably another story.) Poy (Duen) is really suitable for the role of Duen, especially when he really could show the pure (and oblivious) face of Duen. Perth (Ram) was charming, eye-catching, and mystic. There was nothing unnatural with him not speaking anything and just be silent (and yes, that is a compliment). Talay (King) has amazing visuals, and really can depict the chill image. Ryan (Mek) has a charming eye which implies melancholy itself, and this is greatly beneficial to constructing Mek’s character as the melancholic boy who has a crush on his best friend. (The dubbing was really off, but things are done and so we could only let it be that way.) Inntouch (Boss) was chill, and so was his character. He did a great job in displaying a variety of emotion, including flirtatious and determined (as in his proclamation). MD (Thara) and Shane (Frong) both have a sweet smile, and this contributed significantly to their relationship in the show. Notably, Nam (Ting Ting) has made a great attempt in being comical and, more importantly, as a loyal supporter for the BL couples around her.

Music: Great music was offered, despite their rare appearance. I am most attracted towards จะเป็นไรไหม (Would You Mind) by Merry Dancers and Goh M. The song was in the show a few time only, as it is not the main theme of the series. The feeling conferred to me by the song was that there was a certain degree of lovely environment, but there was some uncertainty. Combining the subjective feeling and the objective lyrics, it is safe to say that the rap (?) part of the song is why the song is more than just a lovey-dovey song. The opening theme คนที่ฉันรอ (The Person I Wait For) by MOD3G and Joelong is great if you want a tune with lovey-dovey and an elevated mood. The closing theme รักไม่มีกฎเกณฑ์ (Love Has No Rules) by Ton Thanasit is, then, more elaborated on the feeling of melancholy and, quite certainly, is not only lovey-dovey. In general the music was great and well-matched with the plot of the show.

The show has no surprising plot or very creative character design, yet all the basics of a BL drama are done well in this show.

okayish - sometimes cute but easily forgettable

This is not a bad drama, but it has absolutely nothing particularly interesting either.
Like many other Thai (BL) dramas, the main couple gets boring after a few episodes and only the side ships were there to keep my motivation to go through the last episodes.

Bohn/Duen really didn't hit. There was little to no chemistry between the actors and with such an empty relationship background, I can't really blame them. At first, you can feel a bit of an 'enemy to lover' vibe that never fully works, be it as enemy or lovers. There's a little rivalry at the beginning that jumps to them having feelings for each other with absolutely no transition and background to make me get into this ship. Let's not talk about the neverending scenes of Bohn being jealous, not trusting his partner and acting like a brat followed by all the fights and pseudo-make-up scenes *add a dramatic eye-roll* followed by some ridiculous drama for Duen. Overall, it felt more like a childish play of possessivity and jealousy I really have no appreciation for.
Thankfully, I kinda liked the other two side ships.

For BossMek, Boss is kinda cringy at times with how desperate he looks with girls and Mek's one-sided feelings are a bit overplayed, but kinda relatable. Overall, the dynamic between both is not exceptional but okay. What really put me off though is the terrible dubbing for Mek. I really struggled to keep up with the low quality of it and I hope they improve that if they plan to hire more foreign actors.

RamKing are essentially the ones I kept watching for. It starts off distant and simple, so I wasn't expecting much, but they grew on me. They have a silent understanding of each other's boundaries and are still playful in a non-overacting way, which made it very easy to watch. If only for them, if you have a lot of free time and look for a BL with a simple plot, it might be worth a watch - without expectations and probably a bunch of scenes to skip.

The side couples are worth it...

This show...
Duen and Bohn are the most annoying couple ever.
They argue constantly and Bohn never learns from his mistakes, his jealousy is out of hand and annoying.

The side couples are so good though, Ram and King have this amazing chemistry and their relationship goes beyond the norms.
And Boss and Mek are so funny and the best friend dynamic they have is amazing.

The show can be frustrating and hard to watch but I think it's worth it.
I don't think Duen and Bohn should be together if I'm honest. Neither of them learns from their mistakes and would just hurt each other in the future.

Despite all the bad things I've said about my engineer I cannot wait for the second season

Underwhelming series in overall aspects

Is there really a Season 2? I am not satisfied to the ending actually because it ended abruptly. Expect the next season or not, this series has proven itself a wasted potential. I think I have watched enough dramas having multi-couples. Among all of them, this series failed to bring out a decent couple.

Four main couples as leads:
1. Bohn-Duen
Both actors have different appeals that make it the only reason for their chemistry to be good. Their character's personality is annoying. The development to their relationship is initially cute; but when their relationship became official, the plots turned messy. I couldn't care less to their romance but the comedy between them is okay.
2. King-Ram
Their chemistry is the most likeable. The girl trio and King's sister who are the epic BL shippers made their chemistry fluffy and cute. The only problem I have is that Ram's silent behavior is inconsistent.
3. Boss-Mek
Their relationship development is pretty good and also funny, but there is no sign of chemistry at all. Too much airtime is wasted. Also to mention, I find it weird that whenever Mek speaks, his voice sounds like he's dubbing himself. That turned my interest off.
4. Thara-Frong (I'm curious since they are just support roles)
They should've been given more airtime than Boss-Mek. Upon checking the unoffical Season 2 details, it looks like they are the main leads. If they really are, their plots in this series are a very nice introductory attempt.

The casts did an underwhelming acting. Some acted like a beginner. I can't feel the emotions they are trying to project. Added with frequent cringey sound effects, they look like a total dumb.

Too much skipping. Plain. No emotional value.

RamKing carried!

It's a cute little show and I enjoyed watching it so i'll take it for what it is. My biggest issues with the drama was 1. Too many couples. I don't mind multiple romances in shows however this show had 1 too many of them and it ended up feeling cramped and just not flushed out. 2. They are a group of friends but we almost never see them interact with each other?, just in the beginning and the end. I literally forgot that they know each other because the stories doesn't intertwine at all. You can pretty much just chose a couple and only watch their scenes and you'll still understand. Furthermore, the acting is just ok and the actual story is pretty bland, it's more of a slice-of-life kinda drama. Also the intro is super long for some reason, small detail but I digress. That being said, Ram and King carried the show for me. They had the best chemistry and the most natural progression through out the show. I really hope they end up making a second season just because I want so see them again. Overall it's a very simple show and if you're in the mood for something very lighthearted this might be for you.

As a binge watcher, when I first discovered My Engineer, I told myself to wait until it was finished. Then I figured watching a couple episodes wouldn't hurt. Then I found myself excitedly waiting for a new episode each week. It has it charms about it, and I'm so hyped for season 2. Also, all the couples got pretty much equal screen time which is unusual for BL's, and that made my heart really happy.

The acting in here is really good, and most of the characters are likable. The ending is satisfying while leaving plenty of room for character development, which I feel like season 2 is going to be jam packed with.

My little ship of RamxKing is my favorite and those two are really good actors. Their storyline was interesting and had substance, and their chemistry was great. Perth and Talay are wonderful in their roles, especially since Perth's character doesn't talk much, and he has to convey his emotions with his expressions. I'm definitely biased for this ship and they could probably do no wrong in my eyes, but I thought both of them did a wonderful job.

Bohn and Duen are that one couple that's going to annoy everyone. Most dramas have them. The drama is super dramatic (Surprise surprise) and the lack of skinship and actually acting like a couple makes it a little difficult to connect or like the couple. But they do struggle with real misunderstandings that new couples deal with so there's that. The fact that both of them are dealing with a real relationship for the first time made it easier to give them passes on certain things.

Mek and Boss are sweet, and a cute couple, but won't carry on into season two due to Mek's actor being fired. They are fun to watch though and super sweet.

Thara and Frong are the sweet weird ones, and I'm super ready to see them in the next season. Thara is such a strange nugget, but his character is lovable and caring. Frong deserves his happy ending after how he dealt with giving Duen up. I live for this series development and general lack and malicious revenge characters. There is one, but he has two very short scenes. Everybody's acting is on point, and I loved all the side characters to bits. It's such a light and wonderful series. This one is going to be a hit or miss for a lot of people, but definitely give it a try! It was a fun roller-coaster of emotions.

Rant? Yeah, I think so too.

Click more if u wanna see a very long talk

OKAY honest opinion? BohnDuen? Not the best, I didn't really like them like I did in the beginning, I've rewatched this show MANY times and still can't get past episode one (which is actually just an episode filling in the main characters). The first time watching the show it was great and amazing, but after episode 5? Turn off.

My reason for this is that.. well, BohnDuen literally basically got together on episode 5! Okay? Sure, I guess... but then, there are 14 episodes in the show. So like, where's the rest of the 9 episodes going? Mmm, I dunno~ maybe probably filler episodes because THEY REPEATED THE SAME PATTERN OVER AND OVER?

I mean sure, they're great and stuff, no hate to the actors here because it's not in their choice with the script, but BohnDuen did the SAME THING every episode from then on (more or less). Bohn would be jealous, Duen would just apologize and all good? Like, where is this communication coming from? Like dang, do you not have any trust to your bf?

- Ram King (aka the loves of my life) -

RamKing? AMAZING. Okay? Don't argue with me here. I wished they had more screen time because I end up skipping 90% of the show because of BohnDuen. But their plot is something else, unlike the main couple, they actually do stuff, they actually do different things and have different plots.

King, a loud person interested in plants and weird things, stumble upon a quiet guy who likes dogs. King = loud like a dog and Ram = quiet like a plant, unique and weird like plants. King is so interested in plants that it covers his walls in his condo, he loves plants so by habit, he looks into Ram more than anyone else because he's similar to a plant in some metaphorical way.

Already, they look like a great match because of their interests and likes. This plot is LITERALLY telling us they're a perfect fit.

So, well, Ram finds out about his dad being with his best friend, ran away with his 3 dogs, meets King on the way who takes him in. (Which is great, they can spend time helping each other with studies ;)~).

- Mek Boss -

Sorry, that voice over, though? Yeah, not working out, that voice don't fit Ryan at ALL, but aside from that horrible voice over (that I didn't realize until my second rewatch), they are such an amazing duo.

Mek is in love with his best friend who is oblivious, he has this not so creepy closet stashed with all of his best friend's pictures because that's what bros do and have. Poor Mek is being dragged around by Boss (because Boss is so in love with women and is chasing after anyone he talks to), being pulled to teach him how to play the fricken GUITAR to impress this girl or whatever and Mek is just suffering through it all.

Boss pulls Mek like EVERYWHERE with him and these adventures because well his mute husband isn't gonna go anywhere without him dragging him anyway. But they got together in the end and all turns out good when Boss actually likes Mek back.

- Thara Frong -

Needed more scenes and that SLOW BURN. Though they didn't have the best chemistry, they also had pretty good development, from Frong hating Thara into finally giving into him to - oh gosh - get FRIEND ZONED! But to be honest, they're pretty good still. Even if they didn't have the best chemistry in the beginning, they managed to become friends.

So, well, Frong didn't really like Thara, Frong works at a flower shop, good for his business major or whatever it was and Thara is a doctor. Their first meet wasn't that good, but brush it aside because we literally find out Frong's mom is suffering from illness and Thara is actually helping his mom out (yeah.. kinda awkward)

He apologizes for his behavior towards the beginning of their meet, (luckily, he doesn't over apologize like BohnDuen over there) and they make up for it.

We still have season 2, so I'm not too worried about their chemistry, it'll become better (hopefully) and hopefully Thara will finally stop friend zoning this poor dude and get together.

So, what did we learn? We learned here that the side couples came out better than the main couple and that BohnDuen needs to step up their game next season or I'm actually going to cry a river, they need to divide the scenes correctly next time so that if BohnDuen DOES mess up again we'll at least get 25% of the other couples.

Though, since they're the main characters just give them a little bit more percentages for screen time because well after all they're still the main couple and that RamKing, MekBoss, and TharaFrong should still kind of have even screen time (especially TharaFrong.. their slow burn)

(Anyway, MekBoss might not even return because Triage Ent. decides to be that way. BRING BACK RYAN, UGH!)
