Haechi (2019)

Quiet and gentle, Min Jae Yi is everything a good daughter of a prominent family should be. Engaged to the son of the Second State Councillor, Jae Yi knows that the only way to bring herself and her family honor is to accept her fate, which she does with grace and charm. Devoting herself to learning everything she needs to know to become a good wife and mother, Jae Yi dutifully prepares for the future. Sadly, destiny has other plans for her future. Four days before her wedding, Jae Yi’s family is murdered. With no one else to blame for the unexpected tragedy, Jae Yi soon finds herself the object of baseless and horrifying accusations. Blamed for the death of her family, Jae Yi might not have had much of a future at all, if fate hadn’t decided to intervene. Bringing the lonely crown prince, Lee Hwan into her life at just the right moment, Jae Yi is saved from a dismal fate, but her salvation comes at a price. Plagued by a mysterious curse, Lee Hwan agrees to help Jae Yi, but only if she agrees to help him break his curse in return. Unable to refuse such an offer, Jae Yi agrees to the prince’s terms, setting them both on an unexpected path toward love. But what chance does their love have of surviving when one of them is a former murder suspect and the other is a cursed prince?

Main character is King Yeonho, son of the same King Sukjong ( played by Yoo Ah in ), & then proceeds as how his sons become the next kings & the rest of the story.

Even though, they are fairly different (one is a cdrama, wuxia with fantastical elements and Haechi is a sageuk), the male lead has a "similar" treatment. Many times he is misjudged but has really good intentions. Maybe if you liked The untamed, Give a try to this one, because you will meet many characters and every one will remain in your heart. Also bromance.

Both are historical dramas with strong female leads. You end up loving the main characters as well as the side characters and feel invested in their stories. The pacing in both is fast and you are hooked. Also, SO MUCH BROMANCE.

Although Haechi is a bit darker, both dramas involve the fight for the throne, they have strong female leads, comedy, romance, and a great story that keeps you clicking the next episode.

Haechi is about how twisted the political condition in Joseon Dynasty. On the other side, Six Flying Dragons consist of 50 episodes, from the journey how Goryeo Dynasty become Joseon till all the civil war that happen. Both are heavy historical political drama and have good actors.

Both shows involve half brothers fighting on opposite sides. Both showcase a strong female lead. In both, the Male Lead start without a goal, but an incident causes them to grow and become more responsible. The Male Leads also become a leader to their respective teams.

This is the parent story of this drama. Watching Dong Yi first will make you understand the plot of Haechi a little better. Haechi was still good on its own though and the plot was definitely different from Dong Yi.

Haechi is also about one of the greatest King in history like The Great King Sejong. However, the later is a very detailed and sometimes boring recount of Sejongs childhood to when he became King as well as his accomplishments. I liked it because it was a truthful recount. Haechi is about Yeongjo childhood to when he became King, it doesn't delve into much detail on what he accomplished and thus this drama was more dramatic and entertaining.

Haechi and Under the Queen's Umbrella are both Korean historical dramas whose plot revolves around the fight for succession among the king's sons and an overlooked prince's unlikely climb to the position of crown prince.

That said, in Haechi the person who eventually becomes the crown prince is the protagonist of the drama, whereas in Under the Queen's Umbrella the main character is actually his mother. For that reason, the dramas emphasise different aspects of the selection process. Also, in Haechi the crown prince arc is only one part of the story, which follows the protagonist into his reign as king, whereas in UQU I think the crown prince selection will take up the majority of the narrative.

That said, if you like the intrigues and plotting in either drama, you may enjoy that aspect of the other.

In Both Dramas:

---Male lead is a kind, highly intelligent and calculating prince who has learned to hide his true personality behind a carefree facade since the true "ruler" of the country is only corrupt officials
---Male lead tries to support the innocent younger 4th brother of the family and help him success the throne, instead of the evil 2nd brother.
---Male and Female lead join forces and try to uncover corrupted officials and expose the crimes of the 2nd (evil) brother. Second brother does anything in order to steal the throne, including numerous murders.
---Both dramas have a lot of action scenes combined with interesting palace politics ( I never got bored not even for a second) and romance.
---Both dramas have a good amount of Romance . Female leads are smart , kind and fight for justice and to protect their loved ones.
---The side characters have interesting back story and are all well written. This adds a lot to the "world building".
---Male lead despite being a Prince, he never cares about obtaining the throne. He only wants to protect the younger Prince from the evil older Prince whom desperately tries to win the throne.

Differences:
Well... Haechi is K-drama not Chinese and is dark but not as dark and sad as Rise of the phoenixes was. Rise of the phoenixes was very very tragic.
Haechi has a lot of sad moments but there are also many times that the main leads will manage to succeed! Rise of the phoenixes also was more focused on politics. Haechi has more action scenes and more romance (without to forget the politics aspect).

Both dramas are serious and focus on how important it is in life to be kind and fight for justice. Good against Evil. Love against all forces. Those are the morale of the story.

Both of these dramas are historical dramas that involve succession to the throne. Haechi and The Red Sleeve are based on family members. Both dramas have strong and smart female leads. The male leads are dunning as well.
