i hate this kdrama with the entire fibre of my being. you will never understand how much i HATE this drama why did i even watch it?? it wasted so much of my time MIND YOU i watched this kdrama during COVID when i had NOTHING BETTER TO DO!!!! i shouldve literally done nothing instead of watching this trash show. why was it so revolved around the female lead being so obsessed with her idol that she STORES THE WATER BOTTLE HER IDOL THREW IN THE CROWD (and coincidentally caught) IN A GLASS CONTAINER LIKE ITS A PIECE OF ART???? girl. thats so scary. her outfits did eat though. anyway. THIS SHOW as its written is literally about her private life of being a weird fangirl obsessed FREAK over a boy band!!!!! did i mention that the love triangle was so unnecessary and stupid.....? anyway. i watched this in covid and let me tell you i have such a hard time remembering the details of this drama other than the fact that it was so horrendous and trash and ass and all of the above. i wont even attempt to rewatch and to change my mind. it took me FOREVER to complete this kdrama because of how dumb it was. the male lead was fine though. dont waste your time with this trash show. dont. dont even think about it. watch vincenzo. or the devil judge. gangnam beauty is better than this.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Her character is just unbelievable. First of all I found it quite hilarious that, she had the time to both manage her job as a good professional in a highly competitive field and the fan site. I suppose in her perfect world all of the group events are after her day job and ideally White Ocean only had one schedule overseas(for the entire duration of the drama), like com' on that is absurd. Also I have personally been to a lot of k-pop concerts in Asia and let me tell you some of the fan sites are not nice sweet ladies(girls) who will pat you on the back and give you cookies. Personally I think this character is way off from the real deal.Apart from the fan moments(which were the reason I started the drama in the first place) the story is just lame. Really if I wanted to see two man fighting over a girl, I would have gone outside to a crowded bar or something and the chances weren't even equal. The I have it all rich, guy and the one that she always considered her brother. *Where is my chair? I want to hit myself with it*
I managed to watch it up until 4th episode and after that, I went through the episodes skipping them just to see if anything interesting will happen. I gave up at episode 10.

It starts really good and funny, I was a delight that the argument of sasaeng was treated in more a funny way that usually known. But after the funny sasaeng episode ends, and the couple is made, fade into nothing.
It starts to follow the classic full of clichè dramas, where a few accidents happen and the story is elongated till the 16 episodes just because they had to finish it...

I don't think the writer have ever met an artist in real life or even know a single thing about art and painting.The ML needs only 1 sec to judge a painting? Lol! Even Picasso wouldn't dare!
I loved Park Min Young in "When the weather is fine". She was pretty good in "What's wrong with Secretary Kim" but here the overacting was pretty bad. Not as bad as the FL in Vincenzo and Business Proposal though. Didn't care about the ML or the story. I liked the brother of the FL.
The only thing this drama accurately depicted was how stupid and embarrassing "fangirling" really is! I guess Korean people/writers are expert in that department.

I dont like the vibe and the vfx
I found out about this drama from several forums on the internet saying that this drama was good. When I started watching this drama I had high expectations. from the beginning of the episode I enjoyed it but in the middle it felt boring and this drama felt like an old drama even though in 2019, the vfx felt very old school and too much, the story I thought was a bit forced and a bit cringy. After watching Hotel Del Luna and Touch Your Heart, this drama didn't match my expectations or maybe the drama I watched before was at a different level than this drama.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Is This The Best 2019 Rom-Com K-Drama?
Many fans would definitely see Her Private Life as the best rom-com for 2019 despite the year being just halfway through. I have to admit that it would be a romantic drama that is hard to beat because of the pairing of Kim Jae Wook and Park Min Young. Basically, you won’t be giving high marks for the plot but you will be swept along by the explosive chemistry between the two leads. Watch the behind-the-scenes (BTS) clips and you will understand why you will miss Her Private Life when it concludes. In fact, some fans find the BTS to be even more romantic than the scenes in the drama itself!Thanks to the nature of the story, it allows the two characters to express their feelings in a very sweet and tender way. So, together with the off-the-roof chemistry of Kim and Park, the drama will fulfill viewers’ expectations of a very loving couple for a romantic comedy. In this aspect, Her Private Life beats What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim – the tenderness and supportive nature of the two lovers just overwhelms you in the former.
While Ryan and Deok Mi as a couple is very adorable to watch, Her Private Life is also refreshing for its handling of a romantic drama. There are no unnecessary big arguments, jealousies, tantrums or break-ups that are so common in such shows. Instead, it moves along based on how to be an understanding, supportive, and communicative partner. Contrast that to rom-coms such as Put Your Head On My Shoulder and you will see the difference in maturity in the relationship. Park and Kim nailed their roles very well to portray such a matured couple in the drama.
Where It Disappoints (With Spoilers)
The plot pertaining to Ryan’s past is nothing original. In fact, the link to a childhood problem gets kind of old. The last 2 to 3 episodes that suddenly brought up Deok Mi’s brother and her subsequent memory loss are unnecessary to me. I guess they have to throw it in to explain why she did not know that Ryan is the kid from her childhood. Anyway, the background story to their past just isn’t that realistic because Ryan was 7 at that time – old enough to give others clues about his mother and where he lives.
Furthermore, Deok Mi’s private life as a diehard fan of Shi An remains a secret. Shi An was never told who was the owner of Shi An Is My Life fanpage. In fact, he was sad when the page was put on hold as Deok Mi started to get more involved with Ryan and subsequently had to move to New York for a year for work. Thus, the fangirling topic kind of dropped off halfway too when it is supposed to be the theme of the drama. I don’t know why they couldn’t put in a scene to reveal the secret to Shi An because that would be interesting to watch. After all, Deok Mi is his brother’s girlfriend and future sister-in-law.
I also feel that Eun Gi’s sudden romantic interest in Deok Mi is kind of awkward. He has been like a family member since they were brought up together. I guess it is a way to give some competition to Ryan and competing for a girl is almost always part of the plot in a romantic drama.
My Verdict
Yes, Her Private Life is worth watching to me. But don’t put high hopes on the plot. Watch it for the romance and kisses. The chemistry between the two leads will make your heart flutter with sweetness all around. The kisses are not so much about sex or a lead-up to a bed scene but they are more about love, passion, and tenderness of the moment. So, it is easy to get emotionally invested as you watched their romance unfolds.
A word of warning though. I find the first few episodes to be a little cheesy. The fangirling thingy leads to much daydreaming that is over the top. Sit through all that and you will find that it gets better from around episode 4 onwards. The kissing starts from the end of episode 6 and begins to heat up in episode 8 onwards. Also, you can swoon over Ryan Gold as the perfect boyfriend. Happy watching!

Great chemistry not so good plot
Plot: Cliché plot of vague childhood memories and unnecessary family drama at the end. However, the lines/messages along with it were meaningful. Forgiveness and gratefulness came hand in hand. Also, healthy fangirling is about having your own goals/ambitions while creating time for your own personal happiness. Your life shouldn’t revolve around your favorite idol/s only. They should be an inspiration not an obsession.Acting: Good acting but not spectacular. I think Eun-gi’s character wasn’t convincing. Either a miscast or poor acting. The rest of the actors were okay but not memorable.
Music: Catchy songs & cute sound effects.
Rewatch value: One’s smiles & kissing scenes of main leads. They have one of those electrifying chemistry on screen. The sexual tension between them was just hot.
Overall: However, good chemistry between the leads wasn’t enough to save this drama but at least, it was less boring. Would have been better without the last two episodes. Misunderstanding and miscommunication are my pet peeves especially if not executed well, that’s why I struggled with the first few episodes. I would give this at least a ‘5’ for effort and a maximum of 6 for the main lead’s passionate relationship.
I do agree that when you fill your room with the things you love, your life will become happier. Surround yourself that makes you smile and it will make your day and night easier and brighter.
Simple lesson with a sprinkle of art and hopefully, audience would learn to take a step back, savor what’s in front of them, and think differently with a positive attitude. Life is art and how you see art is how you see your life.

Show's a healthy relationship but a laking storytelling
I loved the beginning. Especially the way Sung Deok-mi's job as a curator was presented. The characters and the way how the main leads came closer were also well written. But at some point the storyline lost its charm and all the casual plots were told about the coincidence finding a lost child and how the main leads realized they knew each other since childhood. It's nothing new and it's predicable. Because of this, the series was not emotionally touching. I stopped watching it at episode 12 and needed to motivate me to finish it. Nevertheless, I loved the way how healthy their relationship was and how kind they treated each other. It is a good counterbalance towards the toxic way of romance some series are presenting.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Missing a spark
I don't know guys but I wasn't feeling the chemistry between the two MLs. And the side characters were boring as well. They didn't really add much to the story. I started fast-forwarding their scenes. I found them annoying and a waste of time. Lots of pointless conversations.Also found alot of moments cringe worthy esp in the beginning. It gets a little better after episode 5.
Being an artist, it was nice being represented as well as seeing the behind the scenes as a curator.
They focus on the different types of art and I enjoyed hearing about the different perspectives to each . Also different artists trials and tribulations. For many we are our own worst critics
Not really binge worthy for me.
Fyi I love these actors in other shows. This show just didn't do them justice.
