My Roommate is a Detective is set in early 20th century Shanghai where the British and the local mob families rule the city. The story centers around a crime solving trio and similar to The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty, the central character is a genius detective who is sought after for his excellent observation, analytical and deduction skills. The central character loves food and money and prefers an easy going life (but is inevitably dragged into a bunch of cases). The bromance in the two dramas is amazing!
Both shows portray friendship between three seemingly very different people, together they solve cases and uncover some very big, ugly truths. Tang Fan is very similar to Lu Yao as being the brain of the trio and also a foodie, and also very good at making his best friend paying for stuff. The bromances in both shows are also very sweet ??
Period drama, a string of mysterious cases, solved by a slightly eccentric genius ML, with the help of another ML who is in the force, good bromance.
Another ancient investigative team led by two male detectives and a eunuch. The eunuch is a grey character very much like one of the two leads.
Both are wuxia drama.
Both dramas have 3 MLs who trust each other and has amazing teamwork that helps them to solve cases together.
Bromance at its best in both drama.
conspiracy theories that finally ends with a war.

- Both of these are detective cdramas
-Both have very smart male leads
-Bits of bromance in both of these
-Solving cases is focused a little bit more in The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty tho

both are ancient detective shows. to do with investigations on murder and other such cases. both have one smart, cunning character very good at solving cases and another character that is more soldier than detective. he/she protects/ saves the smart yet cunning detective on more than one occasion.
Both are based on the China dynasty period.
The difference is that, TSOMD is mainly a detective show where they solve case by case but eventually saving the emperor from rebellion. It focuses more on the thing that happen around the royal Palace.
As for nirvana in fire, they focus more on the things that happen in the royal Palace, and the main character is trying to help the Prince becoming the next emperor. You'll see the details about how the emperor works, their concubines and the way the Princes are trying to get their hand on the throne.
Both are equally nice, tho the goal is different.

Both dramas have a historical setting where mysteries and political intrigue flourish.
TSOMD has 3 main protagonists - an imperial guard, a minister and a detective while Luoyang also has 3 protagonists - an imperial guard, a minister and a mortician.
And most importantly in both dramas the protagonists love food!?
