A Story of Emotions and Life Lessons
This drama has done something for me. It has proven (to me) a bit of a formula for what a show needs to have to be a 10/10 FOR ME.-Multiple storylines
-People that are written like REAL people - (not perfect people, not idealized people, but nitty gritty, do the wrong thing, say yes when they mean no, REAL people)
-Romance that is present throughout but is not the major focus
-Love "tri"angles that are dirty and messy and emotional are a plus
-This show is long.
-This show takes a LOT of detours NOT focusing on the "Main" plot, most of it consists of side plots
-This show's ML is VERY VERY VERY rigid in his beliefs and this is often at the expense of his relationship with the FL.
-FL does NOT explain herself to ANYONE until after the fact (and then only sometimes)
Ultimately, because the show focuses so much on the side stories, the main story does fall to the background with the thread popping up again every few episodes to move something forward an inch. What this means though is that if you DON'T like the side stories the show will fall flat.
Personally, I think the first was the weakest but with each subsequent one I slowly got more invested. I had tears in my eyes by the end.

Under-rated gem of love lessons between humans and mythical beasts
This drama is multi-dimensional in interestly t hought-provoking way. When watching this drama, I constantly ask ,WHY? Secondly this drama is made up of many short stories apart from the main lead love story which was very slowburn.Spoiler Alert.
The 1st love story is the mermaid. A parody of beauty and the beast. The beauty was the mermaid(deliberately chosen a beautiful actress) and the beast, a human.(deliberately, an ordinary looking actor) Is love accepting imperfection ? Warts and flaws? Is saying “Yes” means allowing others to ignore your rights? When to draw the line between acquiesce and being a door-mat?
The story of the bee ( concurrently, 2 princes ; 1 commited suicide) A bromance between a human and a bee, in human form. Much like teaching a robot ,human speech,emotions and feelings. Friendship is being able to communicate well with each other. Cherish loved ones by talking and listening more ..No issue is insurmountable, and sharing is caring. Sharing problems is caring for the other's viewpoint/insights.. See no family support ?See the friend constantly beside you.
Not all were love stories, the white tiger was about a mother's love. Is telling the truth that he was not yours, more hurtful and harmful than him finding out later? Anything is open with possibilities. Is there a line between being seen as a control freak or showing protective love?
The story of the rosefinch bird. (Concurrently, orphan and princess) Can one really let go of the past to begin anew?Is it better that he loves you more than you love him? Or is it vice versa? Is it being stagnant, if you put limitations on yourself? Is it worth getting even at the cost of losing your hope/wishes?
The main couple's love story. Why throughout the drama was there no kissing? Not in contract about no kissings: if you can see the whole picture. Why does the romance was so,so very slow burn and look tame?They have chemistry. ML was serious,sombre, upright and uptight.Orderly and organized Was an artist but deliberately dressed in tight bun at the head and belted at waist , not a picture of free flowing long hair and flowing gown usually associated with artistic type. Why?
FL was a lady dragon. Carefree ,wild with a devil-may-care attitude, .eccentric and non conformist,.Disorganized: and unsystematic: in lifestyle. They were the opposite attract type of romance. Their love story can be seen as both 1) ML was torn between a lover who was unconventional and a family/father/who was traditional. And ,2) a lady dragon and a "monk "nature/ soul.
This would explain why the whole drama has no sexual tension or passionate kissings and was so tame.The ending also reflected that and also has a touchof reality. How to make a human who has at most a century of lifespan with a dragon who has centuries?Reincarnation. every 500 hundred years to meet again. In Tibetan Buddhism, the next Dalai Lama is identified and recognized through signs of the previous Dalai Lama. .FL said she wouldn't recognise him and he would be different . ML told her he will come back with a lotus on his neck. All Dalai Lamas wouldn't have similar looking faces of the previous . Tao philosophy states that the body can disintegrate but energy/soul do not.
Was it coincidental ,this drama was aired in Dec.?Time when people made New Year resolutions ? I gave a lot of resolutions to comenter ,kieny.

I like this series so far. Each story have their own impact n values to me.. from the mermaid, tiger, bee, dragon n now rosefinch bird.. people do critic about the gci since this series is release bit late but for me it is still lovable fantasy n legendary story to watch n i do enjoy watching each episodes of it.I just cant help on how taotie is so blind to see chang qing’s heart towards her until almost half of the story n still so clueless on how he willing to sacrifice even his own life to safe her. Idk what can make someone that old 500years still can see that 😢 n even mistaken someone else as his former lover. I hope taotie can realise this soon.. n it will be happy ending for them plssss

should’ve aired a long time ago.
I think the main problem some may have is that this should have aired 4 or 5 years ago when it was originally completed. I remember waiting so,long for this I thought it was scrapped even after the trailers in 2023. this is my initial thought. This show now has to compete with others that has far superior cgi, sets, and costumes. it almost seems a but unfair at this point. As far as the story I’m hoping I can stay focused and not have to keep restarting the episodes. I will update once I watch everything.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
so many side stories they couldn’t fit the ending
You could tell the editing and proper sequence of stories was lacking. Some of the scenes should’ve been omitted while others, like the MAIN STORYLINE, should’ve had more scenes and flashbacks.There was too much to fit into 40 episodes and for the audience to remember all the sub-plots. The past was too briefly explained and I didn’t really feel what was the point in bringing the demons to this dimension. In fact, throughout the series they kept referencing how badly they wanted to return home, but why come in the first place?
I’m guessing the budget was heavily invested in the CGI rather than telling the story well. The acting was good, mostly.
