Pretty good but should've been shorter
True Beauty is a pretty good show if you're looking for a nice rom-com to fill you with warmth, not if you're looking for a great criticism of society, so keep that in mind if you want to watch it.This drama really made me all fuzzy inside and it's pretty engaging for the most part, if you're looking for something easy to binge-watch. The focus is obviously the romance, although I appreciated the writers included a nice message about beauty and self-acceptance. I really enjoyed that in the end Ju Gyeong decided to stop wearing make up all the time and became more comfortable with herself, I mean to be honest she wasn't even ugly to begin with but ok. I also liked the portrayal of women here, like how the FL likes rock music and horror comics and that didn't stop her from also being girly and taking a interest in make up, or how her older sister wasn't super "feminine" in a traditional way and how she took the initiative in her relationship.
The acting is solid overall. The FL is ok for the most part, but her helplesness, her exaggerated kindness and her being dense all the time get old fast. For the male leads, I didn't have I huge preference of one over the other. To be honest I shipped Ju Gyeong with Suho because they're cute together but also cause it's pretty obvious from the start they're gonna end up together. I mean, Suho is the first one to see her without make up on and doesn't judge her for that, not to mention how they met as kids. I think they have good chemistry together, although I gotta say my sympathy for Seo Jun grew a lot towards the end.
One thing that I also loved about this drama is that they actually made Suho and Seo Jun friends again. It's really annoying how some dramas tend to end the friendship between two guys because they crush on the same girl. Suho reconnecting with his father was also nice, they could've gone much depper into that plotline, though.
But now I guess I should adress the things I didn't like. I hate how they butchered Soo Jin's character. I loved her in the beginning, but they simply decided to make her into the crazy bitch ou of nowhere. And her "redemption" in the end? We don't even see it happening, she just comes back and apologises and that's it. Also why did everyone act that her relationship with her father wasn't that serious? Like wtf???
One of my main gripes with True Beauty is that it simply runs out of a plot a bit after the halfway mark. My interest started to drop a little and the characters started to irritate me cause the writers made them self-sabotage a lot just to create conflict and keep the story going even though there was nothing else to tell.
That aside, True Beauty is a pretty nice and lighthearted show to watch and if that's what you are into, then I definitely recommend it!

The comedy in between is something which shouldn't be ignored at all! I just couldn't stop laughing during some scenes.
Nevertheless, this drama still remains a must-watch to me as the plot, the acting, the cast, and obviously, the songs are all fabulous. I congratulate the team for such a success. They definitely won the viewers' hearts!!

Amazing But Painful
Personally, I truly love this show. The casting is just amazing the actors are too. The storyline is truly entertaining and as the story progresses you only get more hooked. I loved the show because of the comedy and the fun vibe to it. There are many fun moments in the show that will make you laugh. The storyline of the main characters and the history behind the 2 male leads is also interesting. But the reason this is painful is because of the second lead syndrome. I can safely say that most watchers are a victim of this. But if you ship the female lead with the male lead then this is the perfect show for you. One of those that made me smile, alot
This is reminded me of a 1940's screwball comedy, and really you have to forget it's supposed to be a high school rom com.Some of the comedy scene's, the one in the lift rivals Rachael and Samantha, are memorable. The rewatch value is mainly for those scenes.
Yes you have 20-30 somethings playing teenagers, and the sad backstory, The leads are all good actors, so its polished.
I never believe in love triangles, so the fact there was one is just a plot device and you have to go with it.
Who ever did the set dressing for the book shop and the family home deserves an award, I could smell the rooms, they looked lived in, so they were not acting in something that looked like a set.
Just submit to the genre and have some fun.

oh sh*t, MY EYES
I went into this drama not having seen the webtoon. I like webtoons I just hadn't read this one yet. I will say from the pictures that they picked actors and actresses that looked exactly like their 2D counterparts. I thought this particular drama was quirky, funny, sad, happy, romantic, and etc. It showed unrequited love, family, suicide, scandals, etc. This drama even showcased the POWER OF MAKEUP! The side characters were great! My favorite parts were the ones involving the main characters siblings lives. Her brother was hilarious and I related to her older sisters struggle of being such an alpha wanting a cute lil beta like the one she married. It's hard being a not so feminine tomboy trying to find a mate out here lol. I enjoyed this drama and I recommend it to anyone needing a laugh and an all around good drama to watch.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Typical kdrama
This drama felt like a typical kdrama, like boys over flowers, a rich guy who is quiet, harsh ,girls follow him and scream when they see him and he is the top of the class, falls in love with a girl who is considered ugly. Like we have seen such male leads in many dramas starting from playful kiss, boys over flowers. Nothing really interesting to make you bingewatch it. I only finished because it was weekly episodes.The best part of this drama are the second leads and the supporting actors , they had more story development than the leads .

Honestly speaking, this is crap!Absolutely extremely over-rated! This has such good rating and was recommended by so many youtubers and reviewers!
First and foremost, Cha Eun Woo cannot act. Its like he attends the "Lee Min Ho school of acting". No matter how pretty his costar is he kisses like a dead fish. I cant believe he has the leading role in so many shows. His character was the typical teen J-drama male lead. He was just like her bullies. He found out her secret so began bullying her and blackmailing her. He was that typical asshole who uses the girl he likes as a slave and it makes no sense why she would fall for him. That was sick and toxic to watch him treat her so badly for trying to fit in with people and follow the standard of beauty. He kept being his terrible self even after they began dating. He is controlling, obsessive, possessive and chauvinist. Her identity comes from dating him, f*cking hell was that.
I pitied her so much at first. Even her mother treats her so badly and now this d*ck who has natural beauty is bullying her as well. But later on she became that typical pathetic girl who goes and apologizes to the guy when he was clearly wrong. how dare he say her to quit her job and command her to stop hanging out with her friend. This drama made me feel like I had travelled back in time when would have to ask forgiveness from their husbands for disobeying them.
Seriously, I cant believe this show is by the same makers as Extraordinary You. Now that's a good show. HARU, that's how a male lead of a teen drama should be.
The second female lead was so cool at first but then became that typical bitch. WTF seriously WTF!!! Why are second female lead always a two-dimensional character in teen dramas?!
I thought we had evolved from this kind of toxic masculinity where the guys fight over a girl without asking her what she wants. I guess this is where the second lead redeems himself because when both guys are fighting on the field the main guy says the second lead to give but second lead says her opinion is what matters. Despite being the school bad boy the second lead never bullies her or blackmails her. Although he approached her for the wrong reasons but he still stands up for her, supports her and treats her well. So he is your typical second lead, whose job is to give you second lead syndrome, that's all. This was the worst 2020-2021 show I have seen so far.
I am so disappointed to see this as a successful show as its like a show K-drama from the 2000s or something. Cha Eun Woo's character in "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" is so much better despite his bad acting.

The best
This is my favorite life drama of 21 that I've watched so far. In True Beauty, you have all possible emotions. You laugh, you cry, you are angry, you are angry, you are happy, you are apprehensive, you are shocked. Everything.I love Jukyung's overcoming story with her looks and the standard of beauty imposed by society. I love that Suho loved Jukyung because she is who she is and not what she looks like. This couple's story is completely perfect. Only those who watched know that their story was fate.
The grapefruit couple, more hilarious impossible.
Hee Gyung, an empowered woman who does what she wants and not what they say.
If Yeon, Suho and Seojun: a perfect friendship, of pure companionship that unfortunately ended in tragedy. But it was amazing to see what this friendship with Se Yeon was like before the fatality happened.
Everything was perfect. Only point to be desired was that I thought they could have shown an out-of-date Seojun with a girlfriend with reciprocal feelings.

I don't know why it took me so long to watch this drama but here I am :) I would say it's typical and predictable high school kdrama about a girl who tries to cover her real face under make up. The most handsome and popular guy (ML) in the school falls in love with her even though he knows her secret. Of course, there's love triangle or should I say square? FL's best friend has been in love with ML for ages and then there's ML's ex best friend who is in love with FL.All in all I loved watching this drama and it was very sweet. There were lots of funny moments and their chemistry is really good too.
I think it was completely unnecessary for Han Seo Joon to be in love with FL too. It made me feel really bad for him. He always put her first, even when ML returned from the States he told FL he was going back just so she wouldn't regret it and both of them could make up.
I also didn't like how Kang Soo Jin turned out, with releasing that video and revealing FL's secret.
I just think there were way too many things going on towards the end while the beginning was way slower. That's why last two episodes feel a bit rushed to me.
But all in all I enjoyed watching it and I would say it's a perfect drama to take your mind off things or if you are watching it after something deeper and more complicated.

this was honestly one of the best kdramas ive ever watched. its was hella funny, i laughed soo hard lmfaoo. but the topic abt looks and bullying was really meaningful and i really appreciated that alot. i swear, this is the most funniest kdrama ever so u need to watch. i also really liked seojun, even tho he liked ju bal, he still helped an supported her with suho sometimes. i really hope he can find love and happiness in life<33 honestly at first i didnt know who i wanted ju bal to end up w bc they were both good options. then i leaned more towards suho's side, but didnt rlly care if she ended up w seojun as long as she doesnt end up w baseball guy BC I HATE THAT BITCH SMM. i also really liked that it was wayyyyyy better than the webtoon, the webtoon was sooo boring in my opinion. also the bromace between the mls were so funny, but their friendship was also rlly wholesome, especially with se yeon. i also really liked taehoon, he was sooo funny and his relationship with his gf was so cute!! ju bal's brother was so funny, and his relationship w go woon was cute too. i also really enjoyed the emotional scenes, like abt bullying and suicide it really touched me and i even cried. ep 13 was def my fav!! ju bal was so badass slayyyy im so happy that she can she her face and date suho comfortably now<3 i also loved how her classmates cheered her on. i was rlly dissapointed w soojin, she was so badass at first and i loved her, but she just became horrible. but then i changed my mind bc she is definitely forgived of her mistakes and became a better person after getting away from her toxic dad. and no wonder i found him familiar, he played fl's father in hometown chachacha!! now time for my opinion on the ending. at first, i didnt like it, very cliche, suho moving to the states and leaving ju bal for awhile then coming back, but the end was rlly good and im so glad ju bal's sister and that dude got married and ju bal told that stupid chen girl off. i also thought selena was mean at first, but she is a pretty good person, just a little cold. i also feel so bad for seojun, he was a rlly great person and still supported ju bal and suho despite him still liking her. i think he shouldnt have tried to get with her when suho was gone, because she obviously wasnt over him but atleast he tried amd i appreciate his efforts. i hope he can find love and they can still remain great friends!!<3 the ost was also rlly amazing, i loved se yeon's song. though i wish ju bal's brother and go woon's relationship had more screen time. the only thing i disliked was ju bal falling like 728276262772 times bc it was so cliche and the 2nd hand embarrassment. this drama mad me so mad sometimes, but good that its hella funny or else it wouldve gotten a lower rating. the emotional scenes were really great though, bc i usually skip those but i watched thru the whole damn thing and sobbed. well i didnt like the romantic emotional scenes they were kinda boring lol. im really glad it was adapted into a kdrama and i highly recco to watch!!
